McNicholBAt Listowel Memorial Hospital on Monday, December 16, 2013, Mr. Robert Clarence McNichol of Listowel, in his 72nd year.  Much loved partner of Debbie Powell of Listowel.  Father of David and Pam McNichol of Round Lake, and Donald and Cathy McNichol of Emsdale.  Grandfather of Vince, Kathryn, Riley, Ayla, Hayden, and Elliot.  Brother of Helen and Don Valin of Kitchener, and Sharon Noble and Bob Cullen of Gowanstown.  Bob was loved and will be remembered by Debbie’s mother Theresa Cassel of Elmira, and by Debbie’s children, grandchildren, brothers and sister.

Predeceased by his son Dennis McNichol and by his parents Cecil and Blanche (Elliott) McNichol.

Visitation will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Friday, December 20th at 11:00 a.m.

Spring interment in Donegal Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Salvation Army would be appreciated.

Son-in-law of Rita Da Silva of Listowel, and brother-in-law of Connie Evangelho-Bray and Dave Bray of Listowel, Manuel and Maria Da Silva of Arthur, Rosa and Antonio Pires of Terceira, Azores, Gabriella and John Ventura of Listowel, John Da Silva of Listowel, and Lucy and Dave Diniz of Windham Centre.

Predeceased by his parents Mateus and Maria (Machado) Evangelho, sister Ilda Rocha, brother Jose Evangelho, father-in-law Manuel Da Silva, and brother-in-law Antonio Da Silva.

Visitation will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., with parish prayers at 1:30 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Listowel, on Monday, November 11th at 10:30 a.m.

Interment in  Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.

Grandfather of Meghan, Stephanie, Mitchell, Emma, Alexis, Josh, Heidi, Mary Frances, Madison, Jensen, and Hunter.  Great-grandfather of Jacob.  Brother of Bernadette Collins of St. Catharines.

Predeceased by his daughter Marianne Coneybeare, his sister Loretta Endersby, and brothers Jack Newman and Joe Newman.

Visitation will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. with parish prayers at 6:30 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Listowel, on Saturday, November 9th at 11:00 a.m.

Great-grandmother of Jaxton, Jarron, Foster, Lila, Evan, Callie, and Mason.

Sister of Emmerson Marquardt, Orlie Hoffman, and Myrtle Willett.  Remembered also by her nieces and nephews.

Frieda was predeceased by her son Steven Gruhl, brothers Wilfred and Edsel, and by her sister Hilda Stanton.

Susan worked at the McDonald’s restaurant in Listowel for 10 years where she loved her time working with and serving the people of her community.

 

A private family service will be held at Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Friday, September 6th.  Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.

Daughter of Mary (Miller) and the late Boyne Sage.  Sister of Ethel Sage of R.R.1, Listowel, Wayne and Bonnie Sage of R.R.1, Bluevale, and Cathy Sage and Doug Caughill of Stratford.  Aunt of Daniel and Alex Sage of Kitchener, Rebecca Sage of Abottsford, B.C., Morgan Sage of R.R.1, Bluevale, Candice and Lee Lannin of R.R.1, Atwood, and Kayla and Michal Gomulkiewicz of Borden.

Great-aunt of Wyatt, Adyen, and Emytt.

Remembered also by her aunt Margaret Streeter of Listowel.

KnoblauchPeacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Monday, April 1, 2013, Mr. Daryl Joseph Knoblauch of Gowanstown, in his 66th year.  Daryl is survived by his loving wife Lorna (Browne) Knoblauch.  Brother of Wayne and Mary Lou Knoblauch of Stouffeville, and Richard and Glenda Knoblauch of Acton, and brother-in-law of Dianne Rellinger of Listowel.  He is also survived by Lorna’s mother, Grace Browne of Fordwich, and Lorna’s siblings Doug and Brenda Browne of Fordwich, Louise Strong of Listowel, Marie and Wayne White, and Jean and John Martin, all of Welland, Ted and Loretta Browne of Atwood, and Peter and Kim Browne of Tottenham, as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.  He will be sadly missed by his boys Colby and Skylar.

Predeceased by his parents Claude and Lavina Knoblauch, brother Bill, sister Marina, sister-in-law Diane Knoblauch, father-in-law Peter Browne, and brother-in-law Perry Strong.

Van Dorp: Henk (Hendrik) of Listowel

VanDorpPeacefully at his home in Listowel, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, in his 86th year.

Beloved husband of 54 years and dearest friend of Beatrice Van Dorp. Loved and sadly missed by his children Susan and Norm Bedard of Monkton, Debra and Peter Herron of Newtonville, Hank and Crystal Van Dorp of Auburn. Loving Grandpa and Poppa to Isaac, Risa and Benjamin Bedard, Amy, Jake and Kari Herron and Bailey Van Dorp.

Survived by brother Dirk van Dorp and sister Nel van Eeden Petersman in Holland and sisters-in-law Angelina Orrey, Marg Minto, Silvia Fornataro and Sue Fornataro in Canada, as well as many nieces and nephews in both countries.

Henk was predeceased by his parents Willem and Petronella (van der Eijk) and by one sister and ten brothers.

Henk immigrated to Canada in 1953 and became a proud Canadian citizen in 1969. He pursued his passion for agriculture and was a well-respected dairy farmer in the Bowmanville area.

For many years Henk was an active member of the Bowmanville Men’s Canadian Club, the Bowmanville Lions Club and later the Atwood Lions Club.

Following retirement, Henk and Beatrice relocated to Listowel where they hosted Dorterra Bed & Breakfast for ten years. Henk greatly enjoyed his Coffee Club mornings and fun times spent with Trinity “train” friends.

Visitation will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.

The funeral service will be held at Trinity United Church, Listowel, on Saturday at 11:00 am with Rev. Steven Cox officiating.
