 BROCK, JOHN DOUGLAS- Age 70, passed away at Bluewater Health on January 17, 2017. Survived by his wife Lynda Brock, his daughter Connie Brock (Bob MacLeod) and son Jeff Brock. Grandkids Eric, Deidre Brock, Celia and Sabrina Brock. John leaves behind his siblings Betty Anne Hardy, Lynda (Jim) Bond and Dave Brock. John is predeceased by his parents Ruth and Wilfred Brock, son Robert Brock and Sister Marilyn (Goulding) Miller.

In keeping with John’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be a family Celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date.

GRAHAM, BRIAN – On Monday, January 16, 2017, Brian Allen Graham, age 64 of Sarnia passed away. He is survived by his daughter Vanessa Graham, his sisters Donna Graham, Sandra Graham, Lillian Cole, Eleanor Steiner and brother David Graham. Many nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his parents Donald and Joyce Graham and nephews Rodney Cote and Stan Cole. Brian was a performer and entertainer and loved to make people laugh. Funeral Services will be held at the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 N. Victoria St., Sarnia) on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. Peacefully at Bluewater Health on Wednesday January 11, 2017 JANET MARIE COLLINS age 58 of Sarnia.  Special friend of Willie Machendagoos and loving mother of Roger, Wesley, Tanya-Lynn, Timothy, Lewis Collins (Christina), Roselie Machendagoos (Tom) and little Will Machendagoos.  Cherished grandmother of Peyton Collins.  Dear sister of Stuart Collins (Diana), Carol Smale,  Barbara Horan, Tom Collins (Judy O’shaughnessy),  Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.  Predeceased by her parents Orville and Marie Collins, a sister Marlene Morgan, brothers Harold Collins and Ken Collins.  Funeral services will be held from the Salvation Army Citadel (970 Confederation St., Sarnia) on Saturday January 14th at 2:00 p.m. with cremation to follow.  Visitation will be held at the Salvation Army Citadel on Saturday from 12:00 noon until time of service.  Sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to the Salvation Army.  Arrangements entrusted to the D. HUGHES, WENDAWenda (Wendy) Lee Walker Hughes passed away peacefully after a lengthy cancer battle under the compassionate care of Dr. Maddison and St. Joseph’s Hospice in Sarnia, Ontario. Wendy is survived by children Tom; Vancouver, Ryan (Michele Fliss); Sarnia, and Natasha (John Germain); Toronto. Wendy was born August 15, 1940 in Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia to the late Joseph and Mary (MacLean) Walker. Wendy leaves behind siblings John (Carmaine); Halifax, Catherine Roberts (Richard); Pittsfield, Mass., Maureen MacDonald (Ross deceased 2006); Sydney, Marion Beaton (John) Mabou, Everett (Mona); Sydney, Charles (Wendy); Calgary, Gordon (Marsha); Calgary, Joanne Chase (Steve); Halifax and sister in law Angela (Alec) MacDonald; Sarnia, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Wendy is predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Thomas Hughes (2007). In the spring of 2010, Wendy was diagnosed with an aggressive type of breast cancer. Her determination led her to surpass all odds and overcome many setbacks over the course of her battle. Much of that will and strength came from her affection for her grandchildren, Sydney, Cameron, Morgan, Leo, Harper, Thomas, and Preston. Wendy would not have been capable of enduring many parts of her journey if it had not been for her Angel Warriors holding her up every step of the way. She was given the gifts of dignity and respect during her illness by her coach, leader, confidante, and powerhouse, Amy Hughes, as well as the unwavering support from her lifelong friends, Fran, Marg, Elaine, Donna, and Edith. Sarnia’s CCAC and the VON teams cared for Wendy regularly and their visits often made her day. The entire Bluewater Health staff in Oncology, Emergency, ICU, and Palliative all gave Wendy exemplary care, particularly Dr. Dosteler, Dr. Yoshida, and her G.P. Dr. Borek. Beloved wife of the late William (Bill) MacDonald (1969). Survived and missed by children David, Ian (Diana), Heather and Shelley. Predeceased by children Brad (1995), Bruce (2001) (Carol) and Cynthia (1961). Cherished by her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. SMITH BETTY JUNE – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of BETTY JUNE LESLIE (CANTON) SMITH at Bluewater Health in Sarnia on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at the age of 87, wife of the late James Franklin Smith (1985). Dear mother of Bill Smith of Sarnia, Sharon (the late Morley) Maw of Sarnia and Honorary son Alan Kozentis. Much loved grandmother to Jodi (Mike) Hart and Darryl (Amy) Maw. She was Ninni to Jameson and Mitchell Hart and Broklyn Maw. She will be missed by her Friend Darci Demeester and by her loyal companion Sadie, who never left her side. 

She was predeceased by her mother Nellie Canton and brother Robert Leslie. Betty was a longtime Manager at the Odeon Theatre in Sarnia and will be remembered for her gentle nature, sense of humor and contagious laugh.

In keeping with Betty’s wishes, Cremation has taken place and a private Family service was held.

 Memorial donations in memory of Betty may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or Bluewater Health Foundation.

LINDA PEVEC; 1953 – 2016 – Peacefully surrounded by her family at Bluewater Health Palliative Care Unit on Saturday, December 31, 2016, Linda passed away peacefully at the age of 63. She was the beloved wife of Michael for 43 years and proud mother of Michael (Crystal) and Peter (Antonella). She was the grandmother of Robert, Luka, Ashton and Seth. She was predeceased by her parents Victor and Margery Schmitt of Kitchener. Linda worked for 30 years as a PSW and loved gardening, her cats, driving her Mustang and Jazz music. WALLER, BETTY VIOLA (STEERS) – December 22, 1921-December 28, 2016, born in Toronto, ON and passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Bluewater Health at the age of 95. She was predeceased by her husband Christopher (Duke) Waller (December 31, 1997).  In their 56 years of marriage, they had a beautiful life together. She was the loving and caring mother of Marlene Ross (Dave) and proud grandmother of Heather Anderson (Mike), Leanne Farough (Tate) and Wendy Restivo (Peter) and GG of Cole and Brock Anderson, Reagan and Reese Farough, and Noah and Avery Restivo.  Loved mother-in-law to Dave Ross.  Betty was a faithful member of St. Paul’s United Church.  Survived by nieces Debbie Schulte (Clark) and Donna Steers of Arizona, brothers and sisters-in-law Vi Henderson, Doris Tremain, John and Joan Waller, Doug Waller as well as many nieces and nephews in Sarnia.   She was predeceased by her parents Aleitha (Ough) and Frederick Steers, brother and sister-in-law Fred (Ted) and Fran Steers and nephew Todd Steers of Arizona, brothers and sisters-in-law Jean and Roy Reynolds, Helen and Ron Hamel, Bob Henderson, Irvin Tremain, and Donna Waller all of Sarnia. A sincere and heartfelt “thank you” to the nurses and doctors on the 4th and 5th floors of Bluewater Health.  Many thanks to nurses, PSW’s and staff at Twin Lakes Retirement Home where Betty enjoyed 3 years there. Honouring Betty’s wishes, a private service will be held at the D.J. ISOM, ARLENE – Peacefully at Afton Park Place Nursing Home on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, Arlene Mary Isom (nee Fairservice), age 92 of Sarnia passed away. She is survived by her son John Philbin and his wife Wanda of Point Edward and Cheryl Fraser of London. She is also survived by special friends Susan Brown of Sarnia, John Isom of Sacremento, CA, and Kay Hurak (Ron) of Sarnia. She was predeceased by husbands Jack Isom (2014), Grant Guthrie (1985) and Bert Philbin (1984). She was also predeceased by her parents John and Blanche Fairservice and great-grandson Jacob Cousins (2010). She was the cherished grandmother of Ian Fraser, London, Michael Fraser (Kathy), 150 Mile House, BC, Amy Cousins (Kevin), Pickering and Carrie Lanz (John) of Northwood, OH. and seven great-grandchildren, Garrett, Timothy and Emma Fraser, Madison and Aidan Fraser, Sara and Daniel Cousins. Arlene was one of the first employees at both St. Clair Processing (Polymer) 1945 and Simpson-Sears (1954). She retired from the Sarnia Credit Bureau in 1980. Arlene was very dedicated volunteer with the VON and the Kidney Foundation. She enjoyed a very active membership in the Rebekah Lodge and Red Hats. Arlene was a longtime member of St. Luke’s United Church in Sarnia. Funeral services will be held at the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 N. Victoria St., Sarnia) on Friday, December 30th, 2016 at 2:00 pm. with Rev. Melanie Kirk officiating. Cremation will follow and interment will be held at a later date at Lakeview Cemetery. FOLAN, Grace of Sarnia

FOLAN, GRACE – It is with profound sadness that we announce the loss of our amazing Grace.  Grace Folan (Pyette) was born January 25, 1943 in Sarnia.  She spent many years of her life in Point Edward with her parents Charles and Elsie Pyette (Jambleton) and her beloved siblings Tammy, Sally, Marylou, Jeanette, Teddy, Kathie and Joella.  Grace left school at an early age to join the workforce and was a familiar face to the patrons of many local businesses including: The Cromwell Grill, The Bunsen Burner, The Olympic Flame, Tabs (on roller skates), Macs (Finch and Wellington) and Giant Tiger.  Grace was previously married to Paul Savage of Wallaceburg and together they had a daughter Sally Anne Wilson (Aaron) and a son Charles Nigel Savage (Brooke Smith).  Grace was a supportive and honest Mom.  She spent many hours cheering Charlie on as he participated in multiple sports and shared her love of crime shows, movies and award shows with Sally.  Grace was blessed to be “Granny” to Tate Dobbing, Morgan and Maxwell Wilson and Charlie and Cooper Kyte.  She completely devoted her life to them and will be remembered for trips to the junk store, homemade french fries, sleepovers and lots of treats.  In 1999 Grace married Mark Folan after dating for several years.  She was a stepmother to Anthony (Donna), Gary (Susan) and Martine Vanderheide (Tim) as well as granny to 14 more grandchildren.  They spent 25 years together taking care of each other and making their home and gardens a beautiful retreat.  Grace is predeceased by her parents, brothers Tommy and Teddy, her sister Jeanette and brothers in law Les Newman, Pete Morreau, Rick Mills and Bill Nickels.  She is survived by her sisters in law Evey and Rochelle Pyette and brothers in law Mark Nickels and John Romlewski, numerous nieces and nephews who always competed to be her favourite.  Grace was always ready to share a drink of Baileys and a dance at family events.  Grace leaves behind multiple friends and neighbours and past co-workers that have been an incredible support to her and her family during her illness.  We wish to thank Dr. Maddison and various agencies for supporting Grace in her goal of a peaceful death. Special thank you to her sister Joella who accompanied Grace and her daughter to all of her appointments. Private cremation arrangements are being held.  In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to St. Joseph’s Hospice.   Arrangements are entrusted to the D. HACKETT, AUDREY, Margaret, Catherine  – At Fiddick’s Nursing Home, Petrolia, Ontario on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, Audrey Margaret Catherine  ( Doan)  Hackett, passed away in her 95th. year. She was the wife of the late Garner Edward Hackett (1987). Dear mother of Owen Hackett and his wife Irene of Coquitlam, B.C. Loving grandmother of Jefferson “Jeff” Hackett and his wife Babe of Kamloops, B.C. Also survived by her sister  Doreen Charlton of Petrolia, Ontario and nephews; Rodney & Pam Charlton and Bruce & Marie Charlton both of Petrolia, Ontario and John Doan of London, Ontario. Predeceased by her parents Harmon and Ella Doan. Audrey lived on Lakeshore Road near Blackwell for many years and worked for Keelan’s Service Limited as a Service Department Manager. She was a previous member of Canon Davis Memorial Anglican Church as well as a founding member of St. David’s Anglican Church where she began and taught Sunday School beginning in 1956. PATRICIA ROWENA (SARGENT) POSTIL, March 6, 1937-December 17, 2016.  It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of  Pat.  Wife for 60 years to Wilfred.  Loving mother to Murray (Barb) Postil, Greg (Brenda) Postil, Julie Postil, Patty (Steve) Stasyna and Chrissy (Shane) Bellmore.  Cherished grandmother to Marcus, Lindsay, Brett, Karah, Sophie, Erik, Josh and Aaron.  Sister to Norm, Vicki, Frank and Donna.  Predeceased by her parents Arthur and Violet, a sister Connie and brother Bruce.  Mom’s two favourite places were home in the Point and her home away from home Siesta Key.  She loved having people around, the more the merrier, unless she had a tee time.  A special thanks to Dr. Dostaler and the staff at Bluewater Oncology, the home palliative care team and Dr. Maddison and the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice.   Cremation has taken place and a gathering of family and friends will be held at the D. She was the dear wife of William “Bill” Angove and loving mother of Bill (Cheryl), Bob (Sheilla) and Bryan (Jill), Grandma of Brad, Steven, Davis, Brant, Blake and Hadley. She is survived by sisters Helen Ballantyne, Nelle (Jim) and her brother Dr. Joe Emon (Joan). Many nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by her sister Rose Emon. Emily was the proprietor of Emily’s Ladies Wear on Mitton St for over 45 years and was a longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She and her husband Bill enjoyed traveling, often with family and friends. Friends may visit with the family at the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 N. He was the loving husband of Shirley (Vandenberghe) Chypyha of Sarnia and dear step- father of Christopher McMichael (Christina), Chad McMichael (Robin) and Kelly Chypyha. Several grandchildren also survive. Del served with the Canadian Military and retired after many years as a teacher with the Lambton/Kent County School Board. He was an active and longtime member of the Sarnia Golf & Curling Club. At Del’s request private family services will be held. gibson-webGIBSON, SHIRLEY – As the result of an automobile accident on Saturday, November 19, 2016 it is with sadness the family announces the death of Shirley Anne (Strangway) Gibson, age 79 of Sarnia. She was the daughter of the late Peter and Margaret Ann (Gibb) Strangway and is survived by her sons Douglas of Sarnia and David of Cardston, AB., her grandchildren Julie Inderbitzin (Roman) of Williamsburg, Kyle Maness (Lacy) of Corunna, Katie Gibson of Grand Prairie, AB. and Blake Gibson of Sarnia, several great-grandchildren: Vienna, Lucas, Olivia Inderbitzin and Roslyn Maness. She was also survived by brothers Donald Strangway of Corunna, Ronald Strangway (Bonnie) of Oil Springs. She was a lifelong friend of Donna and Kelly Thompson and a loving aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Richard (July 31st, 2015), sisters Jaqueline (Ike) Hill and Mary Margaret Wilkinson (Duncan). Shirley graduated in 1957 from the Sarnia General Hospital School of Nursing and retired from there as a Registered Nurse after 42 years of service. She was a long time member of Laurel Lea/ St. Matthews Presbyterian Church. Shirley cherished her time with family and friends, visiting, traveling, organizing family events and spending time with them. She enjoyed morning aquatics, Tuesday dominos with the ladies, Thursday night dinner and cards at the Point Edward Service Club and nursing alumni events. Cremation will take place and interment will be held at Lakeview Cemetery. Friends are welcomed to visit with the family at the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 N. HORLEY, MILDRED – At Bluewater Health on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, Mildred Helen (Stuchberry) Horley, age 93 of Sarnia passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was the beloved wife of the late Alistair (Al) Horley and mother of James Horley (Janet Clarke) and Susan Horley. Mildred was a longstanding member of Dunlop United Church and a very active community volunteer for many years.  Funeral services will be held at the D. J. He was the step-father Brian Dean and Chuck Brooks, grandfather of Crystal, Theresa, Charlie, William, Anna and Andrew, great-grandfather of Kymber and Scarlette. He is also survived by his mother Frances Hanna, his sisters Cindy Ackroyd and Darilyn McKeegan, a niece Amanda Ackroyd and nephews Jeremy and Francis McKeegan and family friend Stephanie Sheffield. He was predeceased by his father Francis in 2009. Born in Wallaceburg, Terry had lived in the United States for 13 years before moving to Sarnia. Memorial services will be held at the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 N. Victoria St., Sarnia) on Thursday, November 17th, 2016 at 1:30 pm. with Rev. Melanie Kirk of St. Luke’s United Church officiating. Drapotoy: JOHN PETER OF SARNIA

dropotaywebDRAPOTOY, JOHN PETER-  After a lengthy illness at Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario, on November 12, 2016 JOHN DRAPOTOY passed away at the age of  72.   

He is survived by his loving wife Diane (Sawchuk) Drapotoy of Sarnia and mother- in- law Olga Kazina Sawchuk Luby of Beausejour, Manitoba.  John was a loving father to his son Jason John Drapotoy (Christina), and granddaughter Jenna Drapotoy, grandson Jacob Drapotoy. Dear dad to his daughter Dayna Lee (Drapotoy) Salisbury (Rick), and grandson Shane Salisbury and grandson Curtis Salisbury. Survived by his only brother William Drapotoy (Sharon) of White Fox, Saskatchewan and sister- in-law Myrtle Sawchuk Novakoski  (Rudy) of Tyndall, Manitoba, sister- in- law Pauline Sawchuk Thorarinson (Arnie) of Tyndall, Manitoba, and many nieces and nephews, cousins and good friends. John is predeceased by his parents Peter and Mary Drapotoy of Beausejour, Manitoba, and father-in-law John Sawchuk and step father-in-law Bill Luby.

                                                            John was born, raised, and married in Beausejour, Manitoba.

He moved to Ontario in 1972 to work for the Operators union in Toronto. After an early retirement, he owned and operated a small topsoil business in Sarnia for about 10 years. His final years were filled with family activities and his beloved dog “Skippy”. Also, fun times line dancing with our good friends and playing cards at the Strangway center.

Cremation has taken place and at this time there will be no memorial Service but a “Celebration of Life” will be announced at a much later date.

In John’s memory, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation which would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Peacefully at Trillium Villa Nursing Home on Friday, November 11, 2016, HELEN  MARIE PETTIT of Sarnia,  passed away in her 94th. year. Predeceased by her beloved husband Bert Clifford Pettit in 1968. Dear mother to son Jack Pettit (Pat) of Sarnia  and daughter Brenda Sparks and her husband Tim of Corunna. Loving grandmother of Nicola Wiens (Kyle), Tim Sparks (Melissa), Dan Sparks (Jan) and great grandchildren Justin and Corey Wiens, Ty and Jackson, Nicholas and Emma Sparks. Private family committal services have  taken place at Resurrection Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Trillium Villa Nursing Home and Dr. John O’Mahony for the great care that mom received.
