MURPHY, JOHN – At Bluewater Health on Sunday, May 21, 2017, John William Murphy, age 84 of Sarnia peacefully passed away with his family by his side. He was the dear husband of Ellen (Brown) Murphy and loving father of Karen Murphy (Dave), Frank Murphy (Helen), Stuart Murphy (Cathie) and Janis Murphy (Wil). He is survived by 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and dear friends Lucienne Bunda, Marcella and Jim Bryce, Mary and Bill Barill, Joyce Mooney (late Bill) and coffee buddy Rollie Budgell. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his parents Hugh and Dorothy, sisters Norma, Helen, Erma and Edith and brothers Howard, Hugh, Pat and Roy and his childhood friend Bill Muir. John was born in Sarnia and retired after 35 years of service as a letter carrier with Canada Post. He was a 28 year member of the Bluewater Optimists Club. John loved his daily walks to Tim Hortons on Indian Road for coffee with Rollie. Friends may visit with the family at the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 N. Peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice Sarnia with family by her side on Monday, May 15, 2017, SHIRLEY MAXINE MURRAY, age 81, of Point Edward passed away. Beloved wife of the late William Edward Russell Murray (2009). Dear mother of daughters Cindy (John) Murray of Toronto, Heidi Murray of Point Edward and Yeon – Ja Fulcher of Red Deer, Alberta. Loving grandmother of Karly, Jeremy and Darby. Predeceased by her brother Kenneth Robinson and survived by her special nephew Dale Robinson. Born in Nipawan, Saskatchewan, but Point Edward was her home for over 75 years. The family wishes to thank the Palliative Care Team at St. Joseph’s Hospice for their care and compassion that was shown to our Mom. Cremation has taken place. Quackenbush, Beverly Ann of Sarnia

QUACKENBUSH, BEVERLY ANN – Peacefully at Bluewater Health Palliative Care on Thursday, May 11th, 2017 with her loving family beside her.  Bev was born on September 11, 1951 in Kalamazoo, Michigan and her family moved to Brantford in 1956 where she attended Central School, Victoria & BCI.  Bev moved to Sarnia in 1970 to go to Lambton College.  She worked at Bayview Chrysler Dodge as a receptionist for years, Agriculture Canada, then on to Community Social Services, ODSP, President of Local #123 Sarnia OPSEU for 14 years. Bev was an avid volunteer with many local charities. Bev was predeceased by the love of her life, her hubby Bill Sr.  Bev is survived by her sons Bill Jr. and his wife Kimmarie, Don and his wife Kim, and her daughter Jen and her husband Kevin, grandchildren Desiree, Ashley, Chelsey, Jordan, Hailey, Ariana, Aliya, Jaxon and Cashius and two great grandchildren Cohan and Jack.  Also survived by her sisters Diane, Carol and Wayne Fowlie, brother Gord, niece Tammy and her husband Steven and their children Felicia (Jordan) and Jeffrey, and nephew Shonn.   Predeceased by her parents Gordon  (1990) & Joanne (2005), sisters Kathy (1985) and Vickie (2007).  Funeral services will be held at the D. BRAMHAM, RONALD – At Bluewater Health on Thursday, May 11, 2017, Ronald Bramham, age 82 of Point Edward passed away peacefully with his family by his side. He was the husband of the late Margaret Ann (McCord) Bramham (2011) and the loving father of Gregory (Debbie), Richard (Brenda) and Julie Hillis (Patrick), dear grandfather of Shannon (Brian), Ron (Vjollca), Michael (Heather), Christopher (Christine), Joe, Jason, Trisha (Travis), Alan (Karlie), Michelle (Joel) and Shelley (Chris) , great-grandfather of Kaylan, Treston, Aiden, Adriana, Kesler, Haleigh, and more on the way. He was the brother of Colleen McKinlay (Russ), Bruce (Janet), Carol Prince (late Art Green) and Pearl Belton (Leonard). Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his parents Joy and Henry Bramham. Ron was a long time Point Edward resident, a member of Point Edward Presbyterian Church and was a retired master builder. Suddenly at Bluewater Health on Monday May 8th, 2017 MARILYN ELIZABETH McINTYRE of Sarnia passed.  Loving daughter of Maxine (Williamson) McIntyre.   Beloved sister of Catherine (cat) McIntyre- Thomason. Kid at heart, loved bragging about being a Aunty to Brett Mcintyre-Williams, Brittany Williams, Blair Williams, Brennan Williams, Alonzo Thomason, Amelia Cruz.  Also great Aunty to Lyzza , Demetrius and Shia.   Will be missed by friend and support worker Julie Moss.  Forever 40, Marilyn enjoyed life with music, travel and socializing with extended family of Christian Horizons.   We pray she is now traveling free of pain, smiling over us left behind. FOWLER, Pearl of Sarnia

FOWLER, PEARL  – Surrounded by her family on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Morwenna “Pearl” Fowler passed away in her 94th year after a month long battle to regain her health following a stroke. She was the loving mother to Mitch (Wendy) Fowler, cherished grandmother of Lissa (Dee) MacDonald, Krista (Stephen) Brush, Amy (Jeff) MacLean and very proud “Grandma Pearl” to her great grandchildren Charlsey Dekort, Mitchell Brush, Meghan, Matthew and Maddison MacDonald, Connor, Taylor and Carter MacLean. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and her furry, constant companion “Missy”. Predeceased by her husband Roy (2004) and son John (1968) parents William and Emma Westlake and her brothers Harry, Jack and Geordie Westlake. Pearl retired from Sarnia General Hospital after many years where she had worked in the lab and made many lifelong friends including special friend Cheryl. Following retirement Pearl and Roy spent many enjoyable winters in Florida. Pearl was the source of knowledge and support to her family and maintained her independence driving herself to her weekly lunches and card games. Pearl loved children, animals, visiting, card games, reading, music and a glass of merlot but her greatest love was for her family and many friends and we will miss her. A memorial service will be held at the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 Victoria Street, North, Sarnia) on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 12:00 pm with visitation one hour prior at 11:00 am. SIM, RONALD WALTER – At St. Joseph’s Hospice of Sarnia on Friday, May 5, 2017, Ronald Walter Sim, age 80, peacefully passed away with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Edna Hannah (Helps) Sim and dear step-father of David Jones (Brenda), Edward Jones (Maria) and Gayle Jones and Carol Weston (Robert), grandfather of Kristen, Meghan (Eric), Alicia (Adam), Shauna (Jay), Sawyer, Amanda and Brian. He was the great-grandfather of Ava and Allie, Reese, Jordan, Jake and Anna. He was predeceased by his parents Bill and Maizie, granddaughter Sydney, grandson Nick, sisters Dorthea (Jim) and Edythe (Byron), brothers Ben (Helen), Bob (Irene), Kevin (Donna), Barry (Margaret) and Ross. Ron was a former member of St. James the Apostle Anglican Church and upon its closing he and Edna became active members of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Point Edward. Ron retired from the Lambton County Board of Education after many years of service. Ron was a volunteer at Marshall Gowland Manor for over 20 years. Cummins, Rosemary of Sarnia

 

Rosemary Cummins born 1951 in Birkenhead, England passed away peacefully on Friday April 21 at Bluewater Health Hospital in Sarnia, Ontario after a courageous battle with cancer. 

Rosemary the daughter of Tom Curwen and the late Barbara Curwen was the adoring Mum to Deborah, Courtney, Sean and daughter-in-law Cora. 

Rosemary was the doting Nana to her grandchildren Kale and Nico and ‘fur mum’ to Charlotte and Sophie. 

She was the loving sister to Tom, Ada, Barbara (Betty) and Diane.  Aunt to 7 nieces and nephews and beloved friend to many. 

Rose was extremely generous, loving and caring and was a dedicated employee at Community Living Sarnia for over 20 years where she was devoted to helping others. 

Rosemary loved animals, traveling, The Beatles, autobiographies, watching movies and finding a bargain! She will always be remembered for her smile, contagious laugh , great sense of humour and also her strength and bravery right to the very end. 

Special thanks to Garry, Bonnie, Luanne, Jen, Glynis, Sarka and the amazing staff at Bluewater Health, Windsor Cancer Clinic and Paramed. 

Rosemary will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Peacefully at Bluewater Health on Thursday April 20, 2017 LENARD WELLINGTON LESTER age 77 of Sarnia.  Beloved husband of Patricia May (Huff) Lester.  Loving father of Connie Louks, Carmen Lamb and Patty Crawford.  Cherished grandfather of Courtney, Patrick, Katy, Justin, Trisha, Christopher, Madison, Kiera and great grandson Jayden.  Dear brother of Eva Robertson, Bruce Lester, Jean Stewart, Murray Lester and Joyce Philp.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his father Earl Douglas Lester (1971), mother Kathleen Margaritte Lester (2012), brothers Kenneth (1966) and Douglas (1991) and daughters Pamela Ann Murphy (2002) and Janet Diane Lester (1971).  Lenard retired from Canada post after  35 years of service, but more importantly he was a Santa Claus for many years.   Resting at the D. HORNBOSTEL, Lynn of Petrolia

At the age of 66, Donna “Lynn” Hornbostel passed away on Friday, April 14th, 2017 at Meadowview Villa in Petrolia, Ontario.  Born January 12, 1951, she is predeceased by her parents, Richard and Donna Hall of Sarnia, Ontario.

Lynn was a long-time resident of Sarnia and moved to Petrolia in 2009. She loved spending time with her friends and family. She enjoyed camping, listening to music and spending Sunday nights with friends at the Bridge Tavern in Point Edward.  Lynn loved to travel and take road trips to her favourite destinations such as Niagara Falls, Florida, Chicago and Branson.

Lynn is survived by her brothers Dennis Hall and Gerry Hall; son Derek (Kim) Hornbostel; two daughters Dawn (Don) Mitchell and Devon Hornbostel; and four grandchildren McLayne, Kwynlyn and Gueryn Mitchell, and Keegan Hornbostel.

A heartfelt thank you is extended to Dr. Daniel and the exceptional nurses and support staff at Meadowview Villa in Petrolia for their wonderful care.

She was predeceased by her parents Catherine Campbell and Horace Wyndham Rodda, her son Max (2016) and his wife Sandy (2015). Her mother’s ill health forced her to place Violet into an adoptive family until she reached her early teens. Her father, Mr. Rodda, a member of the State Staff of the Royal Household, helped her obtain a position at Buckingham Palace. She delighted in relating how she sat on the king’s throne when no one was looking. In 1949 she emigrated from England on the liner RMS Aquitania, shepherding her two boys to Canada where she met up with her husband who had arrived earlier. She was a fixture for years at the Village Variety store in Point Edward and was well-known and well-loved by the community. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Thursday, March 30th, between the hours of 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 N. Victoria St., Sarnia) on Friday, March 31st, 2017 at 1:00 pm. Cremation will follow and interment will be held later at Lakeview Cemetery. PERRY, John Alfred of Sarnia

PERRY, John Alfred – Peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at St. Joseph’s Hospice on March 20, 2017, JOHN ALFRED PERRY, age 86,  of Point Edward. He was predeceased by his loving wife Mae (2005), their son Johnny (1991), and his sister Dorothy Myers (2017). He was the beloved father of Tom and Bob and was also survived by his sister Margaret Winward and numerous nieces and nephews. He is the cherished grandfather of Jeff, Jaime, Andrea, Dayna and Johnny and great grandfather of Maisie. Cremation has taken place and at John’s request, there will be no funeral service or visitation. ROYAL, Marielle of Point Edward

ROYAL  MARIELLE – Marielle Royal, age 71 of Sarnia, peacefully passed away on Wednesday March 15, 2017 at the St. Joseph’s Hospice. She was born to the late Albert Gendron and Lilianne Gendron on June 5, 1945 and will be joining them along with her late best friend Larry Cunningham and late husband Tom Royal. Marielle was a dedicated member of the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club for many years where she made many lifelong friends. Marielle also spent most of her adult life as a member of the Blue Mountain Ski club and not only enjoyed but excelled in playing cards. Family and close friends were Marielle’s passion and delight. She will be missed by all. Marielle leaves behind her children Laurie, Alan and Heather Cunningham, grandchildren Lynn and Jennifer Brownlee and Mitchell and Spencer Cunningham, great grandchildren Jesse Brownlee, Kaydence Perkins, Kodee and Landon Brownlee. Marielle is also survived by many cherished lifelong friends. A private family service has taken place at Marielle’s wishes, with a memorial for friends to be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last illness. Donations may be made to the St. Joseph’s Hospice of Sarnia Lambton or to the Canadian Cancer Society. LONG, Ronald James of Sarnia

LONG, RONALD – At Bluewater Health on Tuesday, March, 7, 2017, Ronald James Long, age 59 of Sarnia passed away. He was the loving husband and companion of Mary MacColl, son of Selena Hurst and one of nine children. He was predeceased by his father James Long. Ron was a member of Boilermakers-Local #128 of Sarnia. Ron loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing and gardening. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #62 (286 Front St. N., Sarnia) on Saturday, March 11th, 2017 between the hours of 1:00 to 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to Bluewater Health Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family. The family wishes to thank Dr. Crombeen and all the wonderful nurses on the palliative care floor. Peacefully at Sumac Lodge in her 97th  year , Thelma Edith (nee McMullen) Saar, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2017. Predeceased by her husband Melvin Saar (1997). Will be missed by her son Harry Saar and grand-daughter Katlyn Saar. Also survived by her sister Muriel O’ Bright, brother Ronald (Lucy) McMullen and sister in-laws; Ellen Saar  and Audrey McMullen. As well as her nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.  Predeceased  by her parents LaDora and Lester McMullen of Woodstock,  brothers; Howard, Donnie, Hughie McMullen, sister Glenna McMillan as well as sister in – law’s; Jean and Wanda McMullan and brother in-law’s Bill O’Bright and Lloyd Saar . A funeral service will be held at the D.J. ROBB Funeral Home & CREMATION CENTRE (102 Victoria Street, North, Sarnia) on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation on Friday from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Lakeview Cemetery.             BAXTER- RANDY IAN, passed away at his residence on February 8, 2017 at the age of 55. Beloved brother to Valarie Baxter, Tom Baxter, Tammy DeCarolis (Lenny), Tim Baxter and Tina Baxter (Bill) also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his Life partner Fran Collier (2008), brother James Baxter (1988), mother Donna Baxter (2001), father Vern Baxter (2005) and sister Rose Baxter (2015). Randy worked in Environmental Services for 35 years at Bluewater Health and he was an avid sports fanatic. Cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service held at the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 N. Victoria St., Sarnia) on Monday February 27, 2017 at 8p.m. with visitation between the hours of 7:00p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Memorial donations in memory of Randy may be made to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation.

DAVIES: LOIS EMELINE (NEE HENDERSON) OF SARNIA

DAVIES- LOIS EMELINE, (nee Henderson) of Sarnia, surrounded by her family passed away at Marshall Gowland Manor on February 12, 2017 at the age of 79. Beloved mother to Jim Davies (Lorie Ann), Doug Davies, Sue McGeachy (Dave) and Rick Davies (Wendy).  

Grandma to Brianna, Mike, Joshua, Caleb, Charity, Joel, Jewel, Shawna and Leah.   

Predeceased by, her husband Norman Davies (2000) and her sister Beryl Steadman. Lois was a long time employee at Polysar, she did so much with SMAA involvement, spent her time knitting, crafting and she was an avid teddy bear collector. Lois spent time in the garden and travelling with family and friends. She will always be remembered for her enormous generosity and her kind and gentle nature. The family would like to express their huge appreciation to the staff at Marshall Gowland Manor for their compassion and loving care for Lois during her stay there.

A Funeral service will be held at the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 N. Victoria St., Sarnia) on February 17, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. William Steadman officiating. Visitation will take place on Thursday 16, 2017 between the hours of 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
