HUTTON: Marilyn Kathleen (Egelton/Quinney) of London, Ontario (formerly of Forest, Ontario)

Posted by on December 10, 2017

HUTTON, Marilyn Kathleen (Egelton/Quinney)

Died peacefully on Friday, December 8, 2017, at University Hospital, London, Ontario, in her 89th year.  Daughter of the late Aylmer E. and the late Alice Mary (Horton) Quinney.  Beloved wife of the late Duncan (Fred) Hutton (1999).  Survived by twin daughters Kathryn McConnell (Ronald) and Barbara Egelton, all of London.  Cherished grandma of Kristy Thompson (Jamie), Michael McConnell (Judy), Nicholas McConnell (2003) and Bradley Egelton.  Truly blessed and proud to have become a great-grandma to Lily and Nolan McConnell.  Loving only sister to Doris MacArthur (2015) (Bob) of London, brothers-in-law David (2017) (Peg) Hutton, late Dr. William (late Evelyn) Hutton, late James Hutton, and sisters-in-law late Mina (late Hugh) Kersey, late Mary (late Jack) Keith, and late Rona (late Wally) Bisbee.  Also survived by several nieces and nephews.  Always remembered by her very special friends Jack and Norma Aitken of London, Ontario, and their 3 children and families.  Marilyn was no stranger to a life of always working hard to provide the very best for her two girls, who she adored to the moon and back.  Her city life from London to a farm life in Forest started in 1965 when she married Fred.  She worked at the Royal Trust Bank in Forest for many years, made many friends while at her job, until her retirement.  Even with her busy life working, plus helping out on the farm, both her and Fred made time to enjoy their 4 grandchildren and take them on a few holidays.  Trips to Florida and Arizona were enjoyed as well, when snow was on the ground and Fred wasn’t busy with his farming.  She truly seemed to enjoy her ‘farm life’ until Fred passed away, at which time she would move to London to become closer to her girls and their families.  At Marilyn’s request, there will be no visitation, and flowers are gratefully declined.  As an expression of sympathy, please consider the charity of your choice.  Cremation has taken place.  There will be a private family celebration of life at a later date with interment at Beechwood Cemetery, Forest, Ontario.  Funeral arrangements entrusted to DENNING’S OF FOREST (519) 786-2401  Online condolences may be left at www.denning.ca

AITKEN: Brian, of Kettle & Stony Point, Ontario

Posted by on December 2, 2017

Brian Charles Aitken went home to be with his Lord on November 30,2017 after a valiant battle with cancer. His devotion to his family, his firm belief in God and the support of his Christian community upheld him in his struggles and ultimately gave him peace.  Brian was born to Charles(Chuck) and Marjorie Aitken, on December 18, 1961. He was born again in December 1980 through his belief in the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God.  His life was marked by his desire to follow in Christ’s footsteps as He said: “the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve”(Matthew 20:28). As a result, Brian spent his life serving others by coaching hockey and baseball, teaching Sunday school, leading various kids’ programs, being a foster parent, and supporting individuals with special needs. He strove to be Jesus’ hands and feet in this world.  He was blessed with a loving family. Brian married his best friend, Kim, on August 20, 1982. He was blessed with two amazing sons, Jacob and Zachary whom he regarded as God’s greatest gifts next to his salvation.  In his years of work, first for Christian Horizons and then Lambton County Developmental Services, Brian never considered it a job and would marvel that he was paid to spend time with these amazing people.  As a foster dad, Brian had the privilege of serving families who were going through hard times. His life was enriched as he shared Christ’s love with these precious children.

He will be greatly missed by his loved ones who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his Creator.  Brian is survived by his wife Kim;his sons, Jacob and Zachary; his daughters of the heart, Ila and Katrina; his mother Marjorie; his sisters Linda DiMarco and Sherry Aitken; his parents-in-law, Jack and Beryl Rome; his brothers-in-law, Dean DiMarco and Bob Wonderhem; his sister-in-law, Kari Lonergan; his nephews, Justin(Lisa), P.J., Dylan, and Derek; his nieces, Andrina, Jennifer(Mike), Amanda(Paul), Sarah, Jaymie Lee, Taylor, Trinity, Kaitlyn, Donnelle, and Caitlin; his great-nephews, Leo and Owen; his great-nieces, Emma, Katherine, and Erin.

A special thank you to Dr. Crombeen and the palliative care team(both staff and volunteers)at both Bluewater Health and St. Joseph’s Hospice. It was difficult for Brian to transition from being the caregiver to being the one receiving care but he was greatly blessed by your patience and kindness. Our family was also very spoiled by all the staff at both locations and you helped us through this difficult time with true compassion.

We will celebrate Brian’s life at Forest Baptist Church on Monday, December 11, 2017, at 3:00 pm, followed by a reception. Visitation will take place at the church from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm.  Pastor Mark Kennedy will officiate. It is Brian’s request that those attending dress casually (preferably jeans).  The family gratefully declines flowers, but donations of unwrapped new toys, books,or pyjamas will be gladly accepted and distributed to Christmas charities.  Online condolences may be left at www.denning.ca  Funeral arrangements entrusted to DENNING’S OF FOREST

AARTS: Joanna Adriana of Watford

Posted by on November 24, 2017

Aarts: Joanna Adriana (née Timmermans)

Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia on November 23rd, 2017, after a brief illness. She was 89.

Anna was born June 30th, 1928 in Gilze, The Netherlands. She married John B. Aarts in 1954 and immigrated to Canada shortly after.

Anna lived a very full and happy life, and leaves behind a rich legacy of family and friends. She was a wonderful mother to John (Kim) Aarts, Ken (Sherry) Aarts, John (Sam) DeGroot, Pete (Cindy) Aarts and Mary (Marty) Timmers. She was an amazing Oma to Steve (Julie) Aarts, Colin (Erinn) Aarts and Meagan (Renée) Aarts; Paul (Amy) Aarts, Craig (Jolene) Aarts and Danielle (Mike) Bryce; Mike DeGroot, Mark DeGroot, Lindsay (Ryan) Sutherland and Leanne (Matt) Duncan; Deborah (Gene) Aarts, Jeb (Adele) Aarts and Charlie (Ashley) Aarts; Rebecca (Charlie) Turner, Kevin Timmers and Maggie Timmers. She was also a proud great-Oma to 29 great-grandchildren, each to whom she loved getting to know: Cooper, Sam, Brennan and Adalene Aarts; Emry and Caitlynn Aarts; JayJay Aarts; Hailey, Lucas, Kyler and Rachel Aarts; Ryan and Sarah Aarts; Braxton and Quinn Bryce; Parker, Cailen and Tess Sutherland; Riley and Nolan Duncan; Jude and Hazel Shannon; Eric and Adam Aarts; Ben, Matthew and Olivia Aarts; and Cara and Emily Turner.

She is predeceased by her husband John (1986), daughter Nancy DeGroot (2000) and granddaughter Janet Timmers (1990), along with her brother Piet Timmermans, sister Adriana Vaarten, sister-in-law Ad Timmermans, sister and brother-in-law Riet and Jan Oomen, as well as brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Luc and Jan Van Rooesel, Rien and Anna Aarts and Ria and Jim VanHellemond.

Anna is fondly remembered by her brother and sister-in-law Adrian and Cindy Timmermans, brother Jan Timmermans, brother-in-law Harrie Vaarten, sister-in-law Betsy Timmermans and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Toon and Meintje Aarts, along with dozens of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Canada, The Netherlands and New Zealand.

If Anna was writing this herself, she would probably want to publish the birthdays, anniversaries and license plate numbers of everyone on the list, but we only have so much space. Rest assured she knew them all.

Friends will be received at DENNING’S OF WATFORD on Sunday, November 26th, 2017 from 2-6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady Help of Christians Parish on Monday, November 27th, 2017 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in Our Lady Help of Christians Roman Catholic Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia. Donations and condolences may be left online at www.denning.ca.
