It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mom and Grandmother, Sonya “Tony” Genevieve Miller (née Wilford) on Monday, August 13, 2018 in her 80th year.  Sonya lived in Wallacetown for many years and recently at Babcock Community Care Centre in Wardsville.  Sonya was the beloved daughter of the late James Wilford and Dora (née Lockey).  Predeceased by her husband, William “Bill” Miller and her brother, Edward “Ted” Wilford.  Survived and deeply missed by her son, James “Jim” (Sherry) Miller; daughter, Lorna Miller (DJ Graham); and grandson, Nathan Miller (Eva Willson).  Sonya will also be missed by many friends and relatives.  Honoring Sonya’s wishes, there will be no funeral home visitation or service.  A Graveside Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2018 in Grove Cemetery, 343606 Ebenezer Road, South-West Oxford Township, Ontario.  The family would like to sincerely thank all the staff at Babcock Community Care for the friendship, kindness and amazing care given to Mom.   Mom had a great sense of humor, she loved art, baking, gardening, horses, music, wildlife and her many pets.  Arrangements entrusted to DENNING’S OF RODNEY (519-785-0810).  Donations to the charity or foundation of your choice can be made in Sonya’s memory.  Condolences online at www.westelginfuneralhome.com

At Bluewater Health, Sarnia, on Monday, August 13th, 2018, Gerald Robert “Gerry” Coyle passed away in his 88th year. Beloved husband of Joy (nee Bond) for over 67 years. Cherished father of the late Debbie Smith, Denise Cadotte, Donna Chapman-Hillier, and Dean Coyle. Gerry will be fondly remembered by his 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is survived by his brother Jim Coyle, and sister Jane Coyle. Gerry will also be missed by his extended family and friends. Although gone from here, Gerry is now present with the Lord. After a short and unexpected battle, Steve passed away at University Hospital less than 2 weeks  after his 55th birthday.  Steve was predeceased by his father Ed and leaves behind his mother Vera, stepmother Barb, stepfather Eric, sisters Chris Passmore and Becky Mulder, brothers Garey Murray and Doug Clark, in laws Lee Passmore, Steve Mulder, Sowsan Murray, Shelley Clark, many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and two children and their families.  Visitation will take place at DENNING’S OF FOREST, 9 James Street South, Forest, on Saturday, August 18, 2018, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm.  A Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 pm.  Interment to follow at a later date.  Casual dress, please.  In lieu of flowers,  donations can be made in memory of Steve to the Neurology Department of University Hospital in London.  Online condolences may be left at www.forestfuneralhome.com

Kenneth “Ward” Smith Sr. in his 70th year, passed away peacefully at Bluewater Health Services in Sarnia, surrounded by his loving family.   Beloved partner of Pamela George. Survived by his children Tim (Shannon), Ian (Kathy), Alexis (Jay), Lacy (Scott), Ward (Melissa), Jason (Lisa), Erica (Jeremy), Amber (Ryan), Aaron (Ashley), and several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. CUNNINGHAM: Margaret E. of London formerly of Strathroy

Margaret “Marnie” Eileen Cunningham passed away peacefully at Earl’s Court Village, London on Friday, August 10, 2018 in her 101st year.  She was the beloved wife of the late Carl Robert Cunningham (1995) for 52 great years and the daughter of the late John Kelly (1990) and Lottie Kelly (1975). She was the sister of Dorothy Haag (1999).  She was predeceased by her son-in-law James Masterson (1982).  She is survived by her children, Leslie Masterson of Toronto, John and Barbara Cunningham of St. George and Susan and Peter Parisi of Niagara Falls.  She was grandmother to James Masterson (Heather), Kelly Masterson (Neal Rae), and Michael Masterson, Stacey Cunningham, Lucas Cunningham (Kimberly) and Christopher Parisi and Jonathon Parisi.   She was great grandmother to Sarah and Lauren Masterson.  Marnie was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and moved to Hamilton and then to London where she attended South Collegiate and Westervelt College before working at London Life.   Upon her marriage to Carl, they settled in Brandon, Manitoba while Carl served as a Flight Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Air Force.  At the end of the war, they settled in London before moving to Strathroy in 1948.  Marnie was an ardent golfer and curler.  She loved a good game of bridge, and played in one bridge club for over 50 years.  At the age of 93 she was introduced to the game of euchre and avidly played that every day while living at Seasons Strathroy.  Marnie was also involved in the IODE and the Hospital Auxiliary, serving as president of both.  Friends will be received on Thursday, August 16th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY 519-245-1023 where a funeral service will be held on Friday, August 17th at 11:00 am.  Interment to follow in Strathroy Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Peacefully and pain free on Friday August 10, 2018 in her 97th year. Beloved wife of Gordon who passed in 1987.  Predeceased by her sister Marjorie and husband Wilfred Sinclair of Mississauga. Mother of two sons, Daniel of Strathroy and his partner Louise Best; Paul of Stittsville, Ontario and his wife, Jo Ann. Much loved by 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. Born on a farm in Adelaide Township in 1921 Anna graduated as a Registered Nurse from Strathroy General Hospital and nursed for nearly 40 years, in more than a dozen communities as her husband moved up the ranks in the Canadian Army. Anna loved to dance, was outgoing with a quick wit that could bring a smile even in her later years. She moved back to Strathroy for her retirement. Following her wishes there will be no funeral and cremation arrangements handled by DENNING’S OF STRATHROY 519-245-1023. Interment at a later date. It is with heavy hearts the family of Isabella McTaggart announces her sudden passing on August 2nd, 2018 at the age of 73. Beloved wife of Jerry McTaggart of 38 special years. Loving mother of Stephan Babineck and Kelly Babineck (Erica Knight). Cherished Gran of Chloee, Myla and Zackary. Survived by her siblings Andrew Smith, Margaret Sloan, Martha Frew, Robert Smith, John Smith, Moira McCall, Herbert Smith. Predeceased by her brother Jim Smith and Anna Selix. Isabella will be sadly missed and remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Cremation has taken place. The inurnment will take place at Memory Gardens, (2723 Victoria Street North, Breslau) on Saturday, August 11th, 2018 at 11:30a.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Peacefully passed away with her family by her side at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at the age of 87 years.  Beloved sister of Lewis (late Elda) McGregor, Beverly (late Marvin) McGregor, Dougal (Margaret) McGregor, Pat (late John) Jay, and Jean (Joseph) Hishon.  Loved aunt of Clare McGregor, Connie (Dave) Palmer, Lesley (Debra) McGregor, Bryan McGregor, Scott (Lisa) McGregor, Dean (Trudy) McGregor, Jen McGregor, Leigh McGregor, John Jay (Carol Kingshott), Liz Fanset (Scott McNeil), Joe Hishon, and Mike (Lisa) Hishon.   Visitation will take place at DENNING’S OF FOREST, 9 James Street South, Forest, on Friday, August 3, 2018, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm & 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm.  A Funeral Service will take place at DENNING’S OF FOREST on Saturday morning, August 4, 2018, at 11:00 am.  Interment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery.  For those who wish, in memoriam donations to the Forest Curling Club or to St. James Presbyterian Church would be appreciated by the family.  Online condolences may be left at www.forestfuneralhome.com

Donna Jeanne Lodge, of Valleyview Home, St. Thomas, passed away on July 30, 2018. She is survived by her husband, George St. Clair Lodge. Donna Jeanne will be missed by her three daughters, Brenda (the late Roy) Sawyer, Beverley (Pat) Luscombe, Carolanne (Lee) Baguely, and their families. She will also be remembered by Clair’s two daughters, Donna (Gord) Farquhar, Lynda (Ken Black), and their families. She was predeceased by her son the late William Smith.
In keeping with her wishes cremation has taken place, and there will be no Visitation or Funeral Service. Interment will be held at a later date in Elmdale Cemetery, St. Thomas. Peacefully on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, Gerald Francis Dymond of Kerwood passed away.  Loving husband of Doreen Dymond (nee Nethercott) for 61 years.  Dear father of Ron (Kim) Dymond, Sherri (Del) Dodge, Lynda (Jeff) Matthews and Darryl (Anne) Dymond.  Special Pa to Wesley, Amy, Danny, Krysta (Brian), Michael (Lindsay), Jeremy (Lauren), Abby (Brad), Emily, Jenna, Katie and Luke.  Great grandpa of Cohen, Hayden, Lawson, Kayla and Arlie.  Brother of Jim (Mary Lou) Dymond and Elaine (Al) Burnard-Corbett. POLLOCK: William George of Chatham

William George Pollock 1943-2018

With sadness we announce the death of George on Sunday, July 29th, 2018 at the age of 74. Survived by his wife of 56 years Jean. Very proud father of David Pollock – Hurrell, Dan and his wife Beth, and Jean and her husband Richard Gregory. George will be remembered by his grandchildren Sean (Jill), Michael (Demi), Michelle (Marc), Perry (Erin), Cory, Candice, and Steph; as well as by five great grandchildren. Brother of Rosalie and her husband Hugh Terry; predeceased by his sister Judy and brother Ron. Son of the late William and Rosalie Pollock. He will be missed by his long time friends Marion and Gary, and his Aunt Betty Janssens.

George was very involved with the Boy Scouts from childhood. He appreciated the friendship of both the boys and fellow Scout Leaders. George and Bud Arnold helped to start the first Chatham Ventures Group. George was also a trainer of the Chatham Maroons for many years, and enjoyed being involved with the team. He also was a proud coach of both Lacrosse and Hockey Teams in Chatham.

George worked for M.S.S.C. (Ontario Steel) beginning in 1963, retiring in 1998.

George played golf for 30 years at what is now the Links of Kent. He enjoyed the comradery and friendship of his fellow players. During his illness he appreciated the concern of George and his staff.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of George’s Life will be held at The Links of Kent Golf Club, 120 Indian Creek Road West, Chatham, on Sunday, August 5th 2018 from 1 to 4pm. Donations in George’s memory may be made to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to DENNING’S OF CHATHAM (519-352-2390).
