Called home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Friday August 17, 2018 in Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 20. Tat lived her life to the fullest. She was a graduate of Guthrie Public School, Eastview High School, and was attending Heritage College and Seminary in Cambridge, Ontario with aspirations of travelling the world and joining her parents as a Missionary in Peru, all to help others and further God’s Kingdom. Tat leaves behind the love of her life, her fiancé Matt Collins; parents Scott and Tracy Blackburn, brothers Caleb and Jaxon; best friend Brianna Bahlmann and her parents Brian and Sherry; and her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends. Tat will be forever loved by Matt’s parents Garry and Bonnie Collins; and his siblings Cindy Collins, Lana Morrow (Hugh), Joshua Collins (Lindsey), Abigail MacGregor (Brennan) and Shayne Collins (Carla). ALLAN: Elizabeth Christine of Barrie

Elizabeth Christine Allan

On Thursday July 19, 2018, Elizabeth passed away in her 77th year after a brief illness.  She was the beloved wife of David for 44 years and daughter of Duncan and Margaret Bennet as well as sister of Margaret Jean.  She is survived by many nephews and nieces.  She was born in 1941 in Scotland and immigrated to Canada in her early twenties with three of her girlfriends and settled in Toronto.

Liz worked many years in the Toronto Life Insurance industry. She subsequently worked in Barrie as a Manager with Prudential Life and then London Life. Rather than retiring completely she then enjoyed several more years working with H&R Block.

Elizabeth will remembered fondly by all of her neighbours, work colleagues and curling friends as well as her golfing buddies at the Barrie CC and Bear Creek GC.  She really loved her golf and curling and lived a full life, making an impression on everyone who knew her.

A memorial service will be held at Adams Funeral Home, 445 St. Vincent Street, Barrie on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 11 o`clock a.m. with visitation starting at 10 a.m.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre would be appreciated.

SMITH, S. Ronald “Ron”

On Tuesday, May 22nd 2018 in his 81st year, Ron passed away peacefully in his sleep. He had been tucked into his favourite chair by his loving and caring wife of 63 years.

Ron will be fondly remembered by his beloved wife Ruth (nee Smith). Ron is also survived by his treasured mother Ethel Smith of Creemore, father (the late Stuart Smith) and his loving sister Helen Oliver; sister in law Evelyn (Sissy) Edwards (the late Bev). Predeceased by his in-laws Russell and Evelyn Smith. Loving father of Helen (Rick) Jermey of Severn, Linda Wellwood (Lyle MacArthur) of St. George, and Jeffrey (Michelle) Smith of Barrie. Proud grandfather of Michael (Lila) Jermey, Nicole Wellwood, Cory Stuart (Sarah) Jermey, Christopher, Kailey, and Kaiden David Stuart Smith. Loving Great-Grandfather of Logan, Evan & Tyson; Sydney; Sadie and Morgan. He will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews; long standing close family friends Robert Anderson (Uncle Bobbi), Bill Philpott, Roy and Millie Keller, Norma and Ed Sayles and the late Bob and Dee Kemp of New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Proudly, for 39 years, Ron was a Sales Agent for the Prudential Insurance Company of America. Following his retirement from Prudential he continued to work for an additional 6 years as a “retired agent” for London Life. Brother Ron Smith was a Master Mason within the Kempenfeldt Lodge #673. He was also a Member of the Barrie Valley Scottish Rite 32nd Degree. In November 2017, he was the Reunion Honoree at the 40th Anniversary of the Barrie Consistory (Charter Member).  Ron was also a member of the Rameses Shrine (Toronto) and Sheba Shrine Club (Barrie); New Smyrna Beach (Florida) Lodge #149, New Smyrna Beach Shrine Club and the New Smyrna Beach Scottish Rite Club.

Family and friends will be received at COLLIER STREET UNITED CHURCH (112 Collier Street, Barrie) on Saturday, June 2, 2018 for a Masonic Service beginning at 11 o’clock a.m. followed by the funeral service. A celebration of life will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the church hall. (nee Lawrence), 85, passed away in her sleep on April 10th, 2018 in Barrie, ON. Born in Hayes, Middlesex, England on July 18, 1932, to Francis George Lawrence and Florence Carter, she immigrated to Canada with her husband in 1957. She is survived by the love of her life, Robert (Bobby) Coles, and her adored seven sons and daughters in-law: Graham (Csilla), Gary (Anne), Russell (Jennie), Bruce (Lisa), Ian (Amanda), Terry (Karen), and Jeff (Jennie). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Sarah, Ryan, Mollie, Taylor, Sam, Amber, Bronte, Dani, Zack, Denver, Brody, Kyle, McKinley, Devon, Jake, and Kalan, as well as her great grandchildren: Jasmine, Raine, Oliver, Theodore, Malik, Kyleigh, Bodhi, Mateo, Hadley, Declan, and Xavier. Passed away peacefully at Hospice Simcoe on Sunday, March 25th, 2018. Tim McFadden at the age of 46 best friend and loving husband of Jennifer (nee Sullivan). Passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side. After an extremely courageous battle with cancer Pat passed away at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. Pat Amatage loving wife of Sid. Devoted mother of Chris (Jennifer) Armatage, Mark (Michelle) Armatage, Patrick (Tracy) Armatage and Katie (Mohit) Rajhans. Cherished sister of David (Linda) Quennell. Extraordinary Nana of Natalie, Jayne, Emma, Ben, Walker, Ty, Finn, Maya, Rowan, Navin, Maggie, Annie and Thomas. Pat will be remembered by her brothers Ted, Peter and Terry Quennell as well as her sister Nancy Lee. Dear sister in-law of Doug and Diane Armatage. Pat will be missed by her wonderful circle of friends. WATSON: William (Bill) Formerly of Winnipeg, Ajax and Barrie

Passed away peacefully at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre on Sunday February 25th, 2018. Bill Watson in his 96th year, beloved husband of the late Sheila (nee Burke) Watson. Cherished father of Mary Jean Watson (Herman Robinson), Scott Watson and the late Peter Watson. Much loved grandfather of Rheanna (Michael) Evans and great grandfather of Kayla Watson (Samuel O’Mahoney), Brittany (Shawn) Kononuk and Jacob Evans. Bill is also survived by his brothers Bob (Lucille) Watson, Bruce (the late Florence) Watson and Blake (Jane) Watson. Bill will be fondly remembered by his brother in-law Michael (the late Gloria) Burke and many nieces and nephews. Bill was born in Winnipeg Manitoba on July 25, 1922 and obtained his B.Sc. Eng. Electrical Engineering at the University of Manitoba in 1945. Bill’s career took him to Montreal where he married Sheila and established their family and later returned to Winnipeg retiring to Ajax Ontario. At that time Bill obtained a Master’s of Theology from Regis College at the U of T. Subsequent to Sheila’s death Bill lived in Toronto and then moved to Barrie to be close to family. Bill’s family appreciates the heath care provided to their father in his later years. Bill also valued the spiritual community who deeply shared his faith. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 65 Amelia Street, Barrie, Ontario on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 10 o’clock. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall. It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Alex Michael Nastasiuk on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Woods Park Care Centre, Barrie. Bel

 

oved husband of Peggy who predeceased him (2011) after 51 years of marriage. Cherished father of John (Tracey), Anne (Kelvin) Hamilton, Paul (Sue), Joey (Jane) and Theresa. Loving Poppa of Christopher, Nicholas, Alexandra, Samantha, Madison, Zachary, Sara, Matthew and Anika.

 

Alex is predeceased by his sisters Leda Stefanko, Nina Daley, Vera LeBlanc, Mary Nastasiuk and brothers Peter, Nick and Billy Nastasiuk. Alex was born on August 4, 1928 in Timmins, Ontario. After graduating from Timmins High and Vocational School in 1947, encouraged by his teacher Miss. Wilson, he left Timmins to attend St. Michael’s College, University of Toronto. He received his BA in 1952 and his MA in Philosophy in 1954. After completing his studies at University of Toronto he enrolled in St. Augustine’s Seminary. He left the seminary realizing that his vocation was teaching and continued his education completing his BEd. and MEd. at the University of Toronto. This was the beginning of a long teaching career that spanned nearly 40 years. Early in his teaching career at Mattawa High School he met a fellow teacher and future wife, Peggy. They married in 1959 initially finding a home in Aurora, then moving on to Barrie in 1967 where they stayed and raised their family. Throughout his life Alex was an avid gardener winning many horticultural awards and applying his gardening skills to his parish, St John Vianney. He played competitive baseball in Timmins during summers as a young man, then later participated in orienteering meets in Ontario. These were just a few of Alex’s many interests. Alex was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all. Friends
