TESSIER, ViolaIn loving memory of Viola Tessier who passed away on August 09, 2014 at Health Sciences North. She was born on February 22, 1914 in Copper Cliff and remained a lifelong resident of Sudbury. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, parents Georges and Lea Martin (Larose), husband Lorenzo and her daughter Laura. She is survived by her sons Denis (Noella), Larry (Janina), Robert and Ronald (Sharon) and her daughters Annette Kimball and Diane (Robert) Campbell. Sadly missed by her grandchildren Richard, Raymond, Lorraine, Aline, Annette, Kathy, Michele, Renee, Brian, Janet, Marc, Lynn, Blaine, Kimberly and Cheryl. She was also very fond of her 25 great grandchildren and 15 great, great grandchildren. Viola recently celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by family and friends. She travelled extensively and had a special fondness for fishing in Ontario, Newfoundland and Florida. Her passion for pastry cooking, especially “Memeres’ Fudge” will be enjoyed for generations to come. But above all she will be remembered for that big smile and hug that made us all feel so very special. Mom, you will be sadly missed and forever loved. Ronald was one of the 5 men that built the frame for the Big Nickel, one of the founders of Chelmsford Minor Hockey Association and instrumental in the building of the Chelmsford Arena. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter. ALFARANO, AntonioThe family announces with great sorrow his passing in Sudbury on Saturday, August 2nd, 2014 at the age of 93 years.  Husband of the late Evelyn (née Waiwood) Alfarano (predeceased in 2011).  Son of the late Francesco and of the late Emilia (née Venti) Alfarano. Predeceased by his brother Nicola Alfarano (Palma Ienco of Italy) and by his sister Maria Alfarano (late Giuseppe Leuzzi). Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews Antonio, Francesco, Angelina, Nicolina, Maria, Antonella, late Francesco, Cosimina, Emilia, Ilario and by many great nieces, great nephews, extended family and friends. Antonio battled in World War II for 5 years and later on received an award for his outstanding service. At a young age, he immigrated to France; there he studied Civil Engineering and lived for 5 years. Afterwards, he relocated to Canada working as a Civil Engineer for over 30 years at Falconbridge. He was a hard working man who enjoyed spending time on his farm with his wife, nieces, great nieces and great nephews. As per Antonio’s request, there will be no visitation.  Interment at Maplecrest Cemetery, Dowling on Saturday August 9th, 2014 at 2 p.m. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, Chelmsford.

Dear brother of Arsène (Marielle), Cécile Ruff (Richard), Jean-Noël (Maryanne), Claudette (Bob Moir), and Raymond (Denise).  Loving grandfather of Zakary, Brendan, Tiffany and Janelle.  He will be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews.  He was Treasurer of the town of Chelmsford for 27 years and was also a chairman with the C.N.I.B.  Tony loved fishing and hunting.  As expressions of sympathy, donations (by cheque only) to the C.N.I.B. would be appreciated.  Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Cooperative Funeral Home.  No visitation as per his request.  Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford.

Son of the late Josepha and of the late Alma Beauvais. Loving father of Gilles Perriard (Jess) and Lisa Brown (Jason) both of Sudbury, Lynn Loranger (Marc) of Barrie. Predeceased by his daughter Tina Beauvais. Step-father of Eric Vachon (Anne) of Ottawa, Lisa Vachon of Sudbury and Tyler Vachon (friend Christine) of Chelmsford. Dear brother of Gisèle, Lorraine, Pierrette and Denis. Predeceased by his brothers Marcel and Rhéal. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Trevor, Adam, Katelin, Jade, Nica, Ben, Mathieu, Philippe, MacKenzie, Hailey, Reilly and Isabelle. Lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. GAGNON, JoyceIt is with great sorrow that we announce Joyce’s passing in Sudbury on Thursday, July 31st, 2014 at the age of 83 years. Daughter of the late Leslie and Gladys (née Thurber) Guy. She was a dedicated, loving wife and mother and will forever be missed by her husband Roger and six children: Daniel (Brenda), Suzanne Dubien (Ginot), Marc-Roch, Pierre (Susan), Catherine, Caroline Bean (David), also by eight grandchildren and one great-grandson. Also in mourning are Joyce’s brothers Hubert (Marie), Sidney (Mary), Jeoffrey and two sisters, Mildred Gardiner (Harry), and Doreen. Joyce will be missed by her surviving in-laws: Fr. Roch, Simon (Priscille), Jean-Pierre (Pat), Rémi (Suzanne), Colette Léveillée, Lucille Forrest, and Huguette Bedwell (Lance). She was born in Inverness QC; in her teens she moved with her family to Kitchener ON. She graduated as RN at the KW Hospital in 1953. She practiced her nursing in Southern ON; then came to Copper Cliff Hospital and married Roger in 1956. Joyce worked at Sudbury General Hospital for most of her career as a dedicated nurse, specializing in psychiatric care. She will be remembered by many for making a difference in lives of those suffering from mental illness. Joyce enjoyed many outdoor activities with Roger: skiing, golfing, walking, as well as spending time at the cottage with the family. Family and friends were very important to Joyce, and she ensured she attended all extended family gatherings and special events. Heartfelt thanks to the dedicated and caring staff at Pioneer Manor. The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd on Sunday, August 3rd, 2014 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will celebrated on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Paroisse L’Annonciation, Sudbury. As expressions of sympathy, donations (by cheque only) to the Hearth and Stroke Foundation or to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.

Dear sister of Betty Ingram (Marwood), Pat Burke (Susan) and twin sister Margaret Hutchinson (Ronald). Predeceased by her siblings: Larry Burke, Herb Burke, Valerie McDonald, Bonnie Parsons and Joe Burke. Precious grandmother to Kevin, Amanda, Tyler, Keegan, Logan, Krista, Brandon and Brady. Devoted grandmother of her 5 grandchildren, Afton Hicks (Paul), Brooklyn Hicks and Cole Hicks as well as Darryl Mick (Marie) and Dennis Mick. Jean loved dancing, spending time with her family and her great-grand doggy Gino. She will be greatly missed. A private family service was held at the Cooperative Funeral Home, Sudbury.
