ALFARANO, AntonioThe family announces with great sorrow his passing in Sudbury on Saturday, August 2nd, 2014 at the age of 93 years.  Husband of the late Evelyn (née Waiwood) Alfarano (predeceased in 2011).  Son of the late Francesco and of the late Emilia (née Venti) Alfarano. Predeceased by his brother Nicola Alfarano (Palma Ienco of Italy) and by his sister Maria Alfarano (late Giuseppe Leuzzi). Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews Antonio, Francesco, Angelina, Nicolina, Maria, Antonella, late Francesco, Cosimina, Emilia, Ilario and by many great nieces, great nephews, extended family and friends. Antonio battled in World War II for 5 years and later on received an award for his outstanding service. At a young age, he immigrated to France; there he studied Civil Engineering and lived for 5 years. Afterwards, he relocated to Canada working as a Civil Engineer for over 30 years at Falconbridge. He was a hard working man who enjoyed spending time on his farm with his wife, nieces, great nieces and great nephews. As per Antonio’s request, there will be no visitation.  Interment at Maplecrest Cemetery, Dowling on Saturday August 9th, 2014 at 2 p.m. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, Chelmsford.

Dear brother of Arsène (Marielle), Cécile Ruff (Richard), Jean-Noël (Maryanne), Claudette (Bob Moir), and Raymond (Denise).  Loving grandfather of Zakary, Brendan, Tiffany and Janelle.  He will be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews.  He was Treasurer of the town of Chelmsford for 27 years and was also a chairman with the C.N.I.B.  Tony loved fishing and hunting.  As expressions of sympathy, donations (by cheque only) to the C.N.I.B. would be appreciated.  Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Cooperative Funeral Home.  No visitation as per his request.  Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford.

GAGNON, JoyceIt is with great sorrow that we announce Joyce’s passing in Sudbury on Thursday, July 31st, 2014 at the age of 83 years. Daughter of the late Leslie and Gladys (née Thurber) Guy. She was a dedicated, loving wife and mother and will forever be missed by her husband Roger and six children: Daniel (Brenda), Suzanne Dubien (Ginot), Marc-Roch, Pierre (Susan), Catherine, Caroline Bean (David), also by eight grandchildren and one great-grandson. Also in mourning are Joyce’s brothers Hubert (Marie), Sidney (Mary), Jeoffrey and two sisters, Mildred Gardiner (Harry), and Doreen. Joyce will be missed by her surviving in-laws: Fr. Roch, Simon (Priscille), Jean-Pierre (Pat), Rémi (Suzanne), Colette Léveillée, Lucille Forrest, and Huguette Bedwell (Lance). She was born in Inverness QC; in her teens she moved with her family to Kitchener ON. She graduated as RN at the KW Hospital in 1953. She practiced her nursing in Southern ON; then came to Copper Cliff Hospital and married Roger in 1956. Joyce worked at Sudbury General Hospital for most of her career as a dedicated nurse, specializing in psychiatric care. She will be remembered by many for making a difference in lives of those suffering from mental illness. Joyce enjoyed many outdoor activities with Roger: skiing, golfing, walking, as well as spending time at the cottage with the family. Family and friends were very important to Joyce, and she ensured she attended all extended family gatherings and special events. Heartfelt thanks to the dedicated and caring staff at Pioneer Manor. The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd on Sunday, August 3rd, 2014 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will celebrated on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Paroisse L’Annonciation, Sudbury. He is survived by his devoted wife Jackie (Rodrigue) Belanger, his beloved daughter Lise St. Marseille (Joel) and his cherished grandchildren Lia and Jace of Sudbury. Loving son of Ernest and Therese (Paradis) Belanger of Sudbury. Also survived by his siblings Normand (Yvonne), Denise Lapalme (Philippe), Monique Mimeault (Yvon) and Aline Belanger (Yvan predeceased). Gates will also be missed by many nieces and nephews as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. Gates lived his life to the fullest and was happiest when spending quality time with family and friends at his Sunshine Island home (West Arm). The Friday horseshoe gang will always remember his laughter and fun loving nature. No task was ever too big or complicated for Gates who always managed to MacGyver a solution to any problem. It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear husband and father, Luc Bellemare, on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at 73 years. Beloved husband of Juliette (Shank) and loving father of Lucie, spouse Albert Gauthier, Nicole, spouse Todd Fielding and Angèle Bellemare. Adored pépére of René, Bianca, Jonathan and Julien. Son of the late Léandre and the late Valéda (Dagenais). Cherished brother of Gabriel Dagenais, wife Jean of Trenton, Lucille Bellemare (predeceased), Réjean Bellemare, wife Diane of North Bay, Réjeanne Lalonde (predeceased) spouse Marcel of Hanmer and Diane Pauzé of Garson. Son-in-law of the late Nelson and the late Cécile (Morin). Brother-in-law of Bob Shank (predeceased) and wife Jean of Hampton VA, Jeanine Shank (predeceased), Bernard Shank, wife Nancy of Val Caron, Fern Shank, wife Donna of Lethbridge, Alberta and Sister Suzanne Shank of Sudbury. Uncle Luc leaves many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Born in Laverlochère, Québec, he moved to the Sudbury area with his parents. He married Julie in 1965 and together they raised their three daughters in Val Caron. Luc loved his job as a class A maintenance mechanic/millright at INCO where he worked for over 30 yrs. He was a Valley East Volunteer Fire Fighter for 30 yrs and was on the loans board at the Val Caron Caisse Populaire. He loved hockey, hunting, fishing and camping. What he loved most however, were his four grandchildren of whose accomplishments he was quite proud. His sense of humour and silly jokes will be greatly missed. The Montreal Canadiens have lost a huge fan! The family would like to thank the amazing staff in the dialysis unit at Health Sciences North for their great care during these last 10 years. Son of the late Emilien and of Rolande (née Porlier) Prevost. Loving father of Lynne Belanger (Claude) and Julie Clement (Guy). He adored his grandchildren Hope, Kelly and TC. After a coALLARIE, Rogerurageous battle with cancer, it is with heavy hearts that his family announces his passing on Thursday, July 24th, 2014 at the age of 63. Beloved husband of 33 years to Colleen Allarie (nee Hennessy), loving father to Stacy Sathaseevan (Johnson) and Jason Allarie (Jessica) and step-father to Mona Martineau (Wayne), cherished “Pappa” to Grace and Avah Sathaseevan and step-grandpa to Britany Bibeau and Kayla Martineau, and best friend to Kiji who never left his side. Predeceased by his parents Gaston and Evelyn Allarie, his siblings Albert Allarie (late Gloria), Therese Matthieu (Marcel), Andre Allarie, and his dear nieces Suzie Martineau and Evy Friend. Survived by his siblings Annette Messier (late Albert), Lucien Allarie (Rosalie), Denis Allarie (Jeannine), Denise Melancon (late Gaston), Claudette Friend (late David), Pierre Allarie (Gloria), Gabrielle Rosenberger (late Terry), Carole Martineau (Lucien), his sisters in law Judy, Mary, Hazel and Darlene Hennessy as well as his many nieces and nephews. Roger was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus, council 8622. The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd, Sudbury on Thursday, July 31st, 2014 from 7 to 9 p.m. and 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday. SABOURIN, GuyC’est avec grande tristesse que la famille annonce son décès à Sudbury, le mercredi 23 juillet 2014 à l’âge de 75 ans.  Fils de feu Arthur et Aline (née Blanchette) Sabourin.  Époux bien-aimé de Claudette Sabourin (née Couture) d’Azilda pour 50 belles années.  Il laisse dans le deuil, ses chers enfants, Lynne Lundrigan (James) de Chelmsford et Marc Sabourin de Barrie. Grand-papa bien aimé de Amy (Joe Smith), Megan, Shane, Parker et arrière grand-papa de Jackson. Cher frère de Claire Arbour (Alger) de la Floride, Adrienne Racicot (Alphonse) de Sudbury et Gérald Sabourin (Joy) de St-Catharines.  Prédécédé par ses sœurs Muguette Bérubé-Robinson et Corinne Marois.  Son souvenir restera engravé dans la mémoire de ses nieces, ses neveux, ainsi que par d’innombrables amis.  Guy était un fier membre des Chevaliers de Colomb, Conseil 6258 Vallée Centre d’Azilda et 4ième degré Assemblé Msgr. Adolphe Proulx. Ti-Guy was employed by Falconbridge for 27 years including 20 years of mine rescue.  His ready smile and the gift of gab brought joy to all who crossed his path. He will be remembered by many for his dedication to the youth of the community. He was President of Rayside Balfour Little League, RBMHA hockey coach, Lancé Libre (Free Throw), Church youth groups, Rayside Winter Carnival, Boat Races. Ti-Guy was a very active member within his parish, Parroise Ste-Agnès and Club d’Age d’Or.  A huge fan of Neil Diamond as well as the New York Islanders. Guy was a strong believer in organ donation. Heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Maison Vale Hospice and Extendicare York. “There is a special place in Heaven for the patient, caring person whom children call ‘Coach’.”  The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 4691, R R 15, CHELMSFORD, Sunday July 27 from 2-5 and 7-9:30 p.m.  Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, July 28 2014, at 11 a.m. in Ste-Agnès Church, Azilda. In lieu of flowers, donation to Maison Vale Hospice in his honor would be greatly appreciated.

Beloved husband of Edna (née Gosselin) Hotte-Benoit of Sudbury. Son of the late Albert and of the late Sophie (née Brideau) Benoit. Loving father of Fernand (Suzanne), Marcel (Eleonore) and Claude. Sadly missed by his brother Alvin and his sister Marie-Alberte Maher (Allan). Predeceased by his sister Lina Frohmader and Donald (Rita). Dear half-brother of Lauréat LeBreton, Clermont LeBreton (Monique), Laurie LeBreton (Brigitte), Carmen Losier (Robert) and Jocelyne LeBreton. Wilfrid was a Volunteer for both the Regional Hospital and Canadian Cancer Society. His sense of humor will be missed dearly. Loving father of Suzanne Shelswell (Gerry), Denise Charbonneau (Frank Fabian) and Nicole Bérubé (Terry). Cherished grandfather of Angela, Ashley (Phil), Melissa and Steven.
