Metzloff, Harry – of Listowel, formerly of Belwood, passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Wednesday February 7, 2018 at the age of 92. Harry enjoyed spending time at Belwood Lake with his family and fixing lawn mowers.   He was a former bush pilot in Northern Ontario and worked for Forwell’s Sand and Gravel for over 25 years.

Loving father of Tim (Deanne) and Dave (Terry).  Grandpa of Robert, Darryl (Jennifer), Kevin (Melinda), Philip (Amanda), Alison, Heather and great-grandpa of Connor, Blake, Kyla, Desireh and Mikel.  Survived by step-sister-in-law Elizabeth Schaefer.

Predeceased by his parents Albert and Louise (Nickolas) Metzloff, son Richard, sister June Oestreich, brother-in-law Wayne Oestreich and step-brother Phil Schaefer.

Ambedian, Edward (Barky) – of Atwood, passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Wednesday February 7, 2018 at the age of 87. Edward enjoyed spending time with his family and at the horse racing track.  He was a retired employee of Campbell Soup Company after 30 years of service.

Loving father of Lynn, Marty (Jean), Kendal, and Leslie (Peter Kotanen).  Special grandpa of Desmond, Ricki, Krys, Simon and great-grandpa of Sienna.  Survived by his sisters Marguerite, Mary Meyers (Larry), Rosie Asadorian (Ernie), Virginia (Ray) and brothers Albert (Betty) and Dave.  Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Ohannes and Marion (Ashukian) Ambedian and his brother Mike.

Dickinson, Donna – of Kitchener, passed away peacefully at Lisaard House, Cambridge on Wednesday February 7, 2018 at the age of 68. Donna was a devoted sister, aunt and great auntie and loved spending time with her family.  She enjoyed music, playing cards and reading.

Survived by her sisters Ellen DeActis (Gary), Patricia Minielly (Jim) and brother Danny (Donna Ingraham).  Special aunt of Terry (Dawn), Linda (Aaron), Sue (Russ), Marie (Al), Sarah, Amanda (Mike) and William (Amanda).  Fondly remembered by her sister-in-law Kathy Dickinson, many great-nieces, great- nephews and cousins.

Predeceased by her parents Don and Fern (Huston) Dickinson and brother Doug.

Barbara Smith – of Lion’s Head, formerly of Atwood, passed away unexpectedly at her residence on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at the age of 65. Barb was a member of the Lion’s Head book club, enjoyed photography, volunteering at Golden Dawn Seniors Home and attending yoga classes.  She also enjoyed travelling and walking outdoors with her companion and guide Jemma who will truly miss her.  She was a fun-loving people person and was happiest when surrounded by family and friends.  She loved life and lived her life to the fullest.  Every sunset was enjoyed.

Beloved wife of Dave Smith whom she married in 1971.  Loving mother of Christa Beyer (Tim) and Steven Smith (Stephanie).  Special grandma of Sophie, Lily, Blake and Evan.  Cherished daughter of Marie (Debus) Schade.  Sister of Ken Schade and Brian Schade (Pauline).  Fondly remembered by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Mary Eckensviller (Ross), Elaine Foerster (Luke), Don Smith (Judy) and by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Predeceased by her father Norman Schade, parents-in-law Ossie and Edith Smith, sister-in-law Dorothy Schade and brother-in-law Tom Foerster.

NETHERCOTT, Eileen – of Kitchener, formerly of Listowel passed away peacefully at her residence in Highland Place on Sunday January 14, 2018 at the age of 86. Eileen was a member of Atwood United Church.  She enjoyed quilting, making crafts and reading, but loved the time spent with her family.

Loving mother of Twila (predeceased 2016) (Dan Allen) and Tim Smith (Rose).  Special grandma of Scott (Kelly), Connie (Paul), Greg, Becky (Will), Stacey (A.J). and great grandma of Sarah, Brooklyn, Kaitlyn, Phillip and Kirsten.  Fondly remembered by step-children Nancy Sinnamon (Wayne), Jim Nethercott (Christina), Jeff Nethercott (Marie Claude), step-grandchildren Tyler, Natasha (Chris), Ryan, Noah, Adam and Clara, brother-in-law Wallace McKee, sister-in-law Myrtle Nethercott, the residents and staff at Highland Place where Eileen resided for nearly two years, and many dear friends.

Jack was a member of the former Trowbridge United Church.  He attended the McDonald’s Coffee Club, enjoyed the mystery weekend travelers group, camping with Betty and the Gatorville crew, and spending time with his family.

Beloved husband of the late Betty (Hamilton) Dinsmore who predeceased him in 2015.  Loving father of Mike (Shelley), Brian (Terry) and Paul (Bonnie). Dorothy was a charter member and past president of the Atwood Lioness Club and a former member of the Donegal Women’s Institute.  She was an admirer of the Royal Family and was so proud to have met and shook the hand of Queen Elizabeth.  Dorothy enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting, crafting and spending time with her family.

Thompson, G. Rae – formerly of Atwood, passed away at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Wednesday November 1, 2017 at the age of 81. Rae was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion Listowel Branch 259.  In his younger years, he enjoyed playing goalie for his hockey teams, baseball and crokinole.

Father of Ross Thompson of Rosseau and grandfather of Ashly Thompson.  Brother of Pauline Price and partner Jene Krop of Victoria BC.  Fondly remembered by his special friend Joyce Raycraft of Atwood and her family, the extended Graul family and Ed Price.

Robert Darroch – of Atwood, passed away on Saturday October 28, 2017 at the age of 64.

Beloved son of Howard Darroch and the late Myrta (Buchanan) Darroch.  Dear brother of Dianne Lichti (Paul) and Michael Darroch (Theresa).  Special uncle of Chad (Heather), Christopher, Matthew (Sarah), Alexander, Melissa, Scott and great uncle of Bennett, Cora and Colton.  Fondly remembered by his aunts, uncles and cousins.

During his life, Bobby developed deep connections with his friends within the Atwood/Listowel community. He valued these friendships very much and enjoyed the kinship provided by them. They provided a “social family” for him that coexisted with his biological family roots. Being a creature of routine, Bobby would visit his comrades daily at Ralph’s Service Centre in Atwood and he was a proud member the Listowel Legion. It is certain that his banter and big laugh will be missed in many of the local meeting places where he was often found with a beer, a pool cue or a dart, happily engaged in a friendly, or sometimes very competitive game. Bobby enjoyed gadgets and technology. He was proud of his cars. He had a soft heart for his niece and nephews. He lived life freely and independently. He will be deeply missed by all who love him.

William (Bill) Naylor – of RR3 Monkton, passed away peacefully on Thursday October 19, 2017 at the age of 90, two days after his beloved wife Ruby passed away. Bill was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church Monkton where he served as Clerk of Session for over 20 years.  He enjoyed quilting for missions and charities, woodworking, playing cards with friends from Monkton, had a keen interest in forestry and was always trying new farming techniques.  Bill was also a former caretaker of North Logan Cemetery.

Loving father of Ernie (Leslie), Beth Sorensen (Tom), Ken (Angela) and Jerry.  Special grandpa of Josh, Daniel, Ben, Dana, Alexander and William.   Fondly remembered by sister-in-law Muriel Gottfried and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Ernest and Ella (Dewar) Naylor and twin brothers Roy and Waldron in infancy.

Kenneth Engel – formerly of Monkton, passed away peacefully at Knollcrest Lodge, Milverton on Friday October 20, 2017 at the age of 84. Ken was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Monkton.  He enjoyed hunting and playing cards with his Monkton friends.

She was born 87 years ago, a daughter of the late Percy and Elsie Annett.  She resided in Stratford and formerly farmed at RR2 Atwood, near Donegal with her beloved husband Jim who predeceased her in 2003.

Ruby Naylor – of RR3, Monkton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Tuesday October 17, 2017 at the age of 75. Ruby was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Monkton where she was the church organist for many years.  She enjoyed quilting for missions and charities where she developed many close friendships.  Ruby enjoyed her life on the farm, spending time walking, caring for her cats, but most of all cherished time spent with her family.

Beloved wife of William (Bill) Naylor whom she married in 1965.  Loving mother of Ernie (Leslie), Beth Sorensen (Tom), Ken (Angela) and Jerry. Special grandma of Josh, Daniel, Ben, Dana, Alexander and William.  Sister of Muriel Gottfried.  Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents Alex and Hilda (Krotz) Wolfe, her sister Gertrude and husband Robert Brisbin, brother Harold and brother-in-law Andrew Gottfried.

LEIS, Marie (Erb) 1921-2017 – died at Nithview Community on Monday October 16, 2017 of age related illness. Born in Wellesley Township to Joseph R. and Mary (Nafziger) Erb.  She was a life partner in dairy farming with her late husband Gordon (1982) in Perth County where they raised their family, Glennis (Mark Yantzi), James (Rosella Gerber), Murray (Marilyn Roes), Merlin (Angela Kindler), Paul (Charlene Martin) and Gloria (Dale Freeman).  She will be missed by grandchildren Michael Yantzi (Marsha Taylor), James Yantzi, Rebecca Minor (Patrick), Shannon Leis, Maria Leis, David Leis, Scott Leis (Nicole) Victoria Leis (Alex), Erin Freeman, Alexander Freeman (Racheal), Nickolas Freeman (Kristen) and great grandchildren Laine, Lexi, Liam, Gracelyn May, Noa and Amos.  Also surviving are brother-in-law and sister-in-law Omer and Erma Leis and many nieces and nephews.  She was the last surviving member of her family being predeceased by her sister Frieda (John G. Erb), and brothers Ervin (Erma, Mary Gingerich) and Joe (Mabel).  Also predeceased by in-laws Leroy and Vera Leis and Marion Bender Leis.

Marie had an amazing capacity to remember names and faces of those she met throughout her lifetime even in these later years with dementia. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, quilting and for some years worked as a Red Cross Homemaker.

A special thanks to the staff at Nithview Community for their care and compassion shown to our mother in these later years.

Marie was a lifelong member of Maple View Mennonite Church in Wellesley Township where a private family burial will take place in the adjoining cemetery.   Memorial visitation will be held at Maple View Mennonite Church, 5074 Deborah Glaister Line on Saturday October 28 from 2 to 5 p.m. where the memorial service will be held on Sunday October 29, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Brent Kipfer officiating.

Joe Dittmer – formerly of RR3 Listowel, passed away peacefully at Hillside Manor, Sebringville on Sunday October 8, 2017 at the age of 88.

Beloved husband of the late Shirley (Hird) Dittmer who predeceased him in 2003.  Father of Donald Dittmer and grandfather of Nancy Dittmer-Gulikers, Ken, Allan, Bill and Craig Dittmer.  Great grandfather of Aiden, Cole, Aubrey, Reid and Logan.  Brother of Laura Middleton, Vera McMillan, Lillian Siemon and Charles Dittmer.

Predeceased by his parents Frederick and Clara (Schwindt) Dittmer, sisters Bertha Weir, Frieda McAdams, Doris Dittmer and brothers Louis and William.

Broughton, William (Bill) – of Listowel, formerly of Atwood, passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Tuesday October 3, 2017 at the age of 94. Bill was a member of Atwood United Church and a former member of the Atwood Lions Club.  He was a true farmer but always found time for golfing, playing and coaching hockey, playing baseball and hunting.  Bill enjoyed playing cards at the Men’s Club of Atwood.

Beloved husband of the late Betty (Rock) Broughton who predeceased him in 2005.  Loving father of Debbie Wilson (Frank), Richard (Bev), Robert, Greg (Diana) and Tom (Tammy).  Special grandpa of Trevor, Amy (Andrew), Todd, Jamie (Kyla), Laurie (Wayne), Brad (Chelsea), Taylor, Nicole and great grandpa of Abbigayle, Aiden, Leah and Jake.  Fondly remembered by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Gwen and George Barrie, Joanne and Doug Aitchison, Iris Rock, Karl Campbell and by many nieces and nephews.

Bill was the last surviving member of his family being predeceased by his parents Jim and Lou (Coulter) Broughton, brother Jack (Mary), sisters Dorothy Lannin (Fergus), Laurene Corriveau (Paul) and Annie Primrose (Gerald).

Lloyd McLaughlin – formerly of Listowel, passed away peacefully at Huronlea Home for the Aged, Brussels on Wednesday August 23, 2017 at the age of 87. Lloyd enjoyed spending time with his family at the cottage and fixing old cars.

Beloved husband of Marg (Bell) McLaughlin with whom he celebrated 65 years of marriage on August 9th.  Loving father of Ron and Lois and Randy and Wendy. Special grandpa of Trisha and Clint, Curtis and Sandi, Ryan, Becky, and Drew.  Poppa of Reed, Jesa, Jaxon, Camdyn, Destiny, Madison, Parker and Violet.  Brother of Harold McLaughlin. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Harvey Clarke – of Atwood passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Monday August 14, 2017 at the age of 83. Harvey was a former 4H leader and square dance caller.  He enjoyed coaching hockey and square dancing.

Beloved husband of Marg (Conley) Clarke whom he married in 1958.  Loving father of Shirley and Alan Baker and their children Thomas (Nicole), Sara (Brian), Emily (Cody), and Isaac (Tasha); Murray and Sharon Clarke and their children Torie (Derek), Alanis (Ryan) and Austin; Brian Clarke and Jackie Birk; Tracy Courtney and her children Jillian (Graeme), Scott (Jess) and Tina; Paul and Tanya Clarke and their children Travis, Matthew and Samuel.  Special Great Gramps of Bexlie.  Brother of Vivien Laidlaw, Cecil Clarke (Barb), Ruth Kirkpatrick, Linda Clark.  Fondly remembered by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Wilma and Doug Rathwell, Doug and Virginia Conley, many nieces and nephews and Dave Courtney.

Roberta Rocher – passed away peacefully at her residence in Caressant Care Nursing Home, Listowel on Tuesday June 13, 2017 at the age of 89.

Beloved wife of the late Calvin Rocher who predeceased her in 1992.  Step-mother of Barb Argue, and Ross and Nora Rocher.  Step-grandmother of Scott, Catherine and their families.  Dear sister of Elma Cooke.  Fondly remembered by Lenore Moser and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Predeceased by her parents Henry and Ellen (Woods) Dale, sister Catherine and brother Carl.

Marion Krugel – of Listowel passed away surrounded by the love of her family at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Saturday April 29, 2017 at the age of 76. Marion was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she had volunteered her time in various roles.  She volunteered with the Canadian Cancer Society, North Perth Hospice and the VON as a former leader of the exercise program in Listowel and Monkton.  Marion enjoyed travelling, loved the outdoors, gardening, painting and photography.

Fondly remembered by her siblings Rose Marie Wright (Burlington), Verna (Alfred) Young (Mitchell) and John Krugel (Listowel).  Dearly missed by her special nephew Bill (Cheryl) Young, great nephew Lucas, great nieces Anita and Catharine Young all of Monkton and loving Aunt Marjorie Kaufman (Listowel).  Also survived by her nieces Sandra (Vic) Farrow, Darlene Kosonic, Joanne Young, Yvonne Yarker, Carol Young and great nieces and nephews Donald, Julia, Stephon, Jeremy and Rebecca.

Predeceased by her parents John and Dorothy (Illman) Krugel and brother-in-law Ron Wright.

David Reddecopp – of Linwood, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday April 26, 2017 at the age of 46. He and his family were on a trip when he died of complications of a grand mal seizure in Longview Texas.  David was a member of the Lighthouse Gospel Church.  He repented of his sins and received Jesus as his Lord and Saviour on May 8, 1996.  He was baptized on October 20, 1996.

Beloved husband of Susana (Peters) Reddecopp whom he married in 1996.  Loving father of Alexander, Sandra, Abigail, Jeremiah, Benaiah, Isabella, Anita, Theodor, Timothy, John, Galina and Armando.  Son of Aganetha (Froese) Redecopp.  Brother of Anna and John Thiessen, Maria and Jake Redecop, Nancy Redecop, Isaac and Susan Reddecopp, Pedro and Tina Reddecopp.  Fondly remembered by his mother-in-law Susana Peters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Henry and Maria Knelsen, Bill and Anita Dyck, Doug and Tina Kroeker, Martin and Eva Fast, David and Elisa Friesen, David and Margarita Harder, Abe and Vonda Dyck.

ROCK, Mark H. of Atwood

 Rock, Mark H. – of Atwood, went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Saturday April 22, 2017 at the age of 65. Mark was an organ donor who was able to give the gift of life to others.  He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Listowel.  Mark enjoyed talking to anyone and sharing his faith with them and was always seen wearing a cowboy hat.  He worked hard, participated in mission projects in Bolivia and also enjoyed travelling with Kathy especially to Tennessee.

Cherished and dearly loved husband of Kathy (McCallum) Rock whom he married in 1975. Loving father of Michelle Vanlochem (Marcel), Amanda Rock, Naomi Rock and April Rock.  Cherished grandpa of Eliana, Tobias, Myla and Zemirah.  Brother and brother-in-law of Joel (Marilyn), Marg Rock and Barbara Rock.  Fondly remembered by his mother-in-law Margaret McCallum, brother-in-law Jim McCallum, Rebecca Rock, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Berniece McEwen – of Route 3 Monkton, passed away surrounded by the love of her family, at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Tuesday April 4, 2017 at the age of 78. Berniece was an active member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Monkton.  She enjoyed knitting and reading and was a Monkton Wildcat, Monkton Muskrats, Toronto Maple Leaf and Toronto Blue Jay fan.  She worked for many years at the former Mary’s Truck Stop in Monkton.  Berniece lovingly supported her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in whatever endeavor they undertook.

Beloved wife of Doug McEwen whom she married in 1958.  Loving mother of Brian, Shirley Verhoeve (Rob), Janice Stahlke (Greg), Dennis (Mary Lynn), Colleen McEwen.  Special grandma of Brianne (Travis), Heather (Ryan), Jason (Nicci), Janelle (Jordan), Kristen, Taylor, Erin, Quintin (Rachel), Kyla, Brooklynn and great grandma of Everly, Carson, Brady, Harper, Dylan, Mckenna and Willa.  Cherished daughter of Olive (Osborn) and the late Edwin Hoppenrath.  Dear sister of Doris McLean (Ron) and Roger Hoppenrath (Angie) and sister-in-law of Marie Brohart (Vern), Joyce McLaughlin, Roy McEwen (Joan) and Marj McEwen.  Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

George Smith – formerly of Atwood, passed away peacefully at Caressant Care Nursing Home, Listowel on Sunday March 12, 2017 at the age of 83. George was a member of Atwood Presbyterian Church where he had served as Elder.  He was a Charter/Life member of the Atwood Lions Club and a recipient of the Lions Club International Melvin Jones Fellowship, the foundations highest honor in recognition of his commitment to humanitarian work.  He enjoyed horse racing, playing Lost Heir with his Atwood friends, NCO dancing and when living in Atwood, walking his poodles with his neighbor Jack Peebles.

Beloved husband of Lillian (Pehlke) Smith with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.  Loving father of Kevin (Julia), Cheryl Dominski (Andrzej), Ted (Cara) and Sean (Kate).  Special grandpa of Mia, Michael (Charisse), Julianne, Travis, Kelsey, Jackson, Quinn, Emily, and Matthew.  Fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Joan Pehlke and many nieces and nephews.
