Chislett, ReginaldReginald Chislett – passed away peacefully at his residence in Ritz Lutheran Villa, Mitchell on Wednesday January 20, 2016, one week short of his 87th birthday.  Reginald was retired from the Royal Canadian Air Force where he served as a flight engineer on the Hercules Aircraft.

Beloved husband of Margaret (Hawkins) Chislett whom he married in 1954. Loving father of Doug Chislett and Debra Woodske of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Dodi and Grant Morgan of Listowel, Bill and Leslie Chislett of Smithville.  Special grandpa of James Morgan, Jessica and Mike Carter and great grandpa of Jimmy and Annabelle.  Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends.  A special thank you to the friends and staff at Ritz Lutheran Villa.

Predeceased by his parents James and Suzanna (Jones) Chislett.  Reg was the last surviving member of his family being predeceased by eleven siblings.

In keeping with Reg’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral home visitation.  A private family memorial service will be held at Brenneman Funeral Home, Atwood at a later date.

Schalk, GerardGerard Schalk – of Listowel, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Saturday December 26, 2015 at the age of 75. Gerard was a member of Atwood Presbyterian Church.  He was a former businessman in Atwood/Listowel as owner of Gerard Schalk Auto Body and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 259 Listowel.  Gerard cherished the time spent with his family while camping, snowmobiling, travelling across this country and travelling abroad.  He was an avid Nascar fan who followed his Fords from the livingroom as well as visiting many of the tracks.

Devoted husband of Edith (Ropp) Schalk whom he married in 1964.  Loving father of Susan and Jamie Murr, Laurie Schalk, Donald Schalk.  Proud grandfather of Michelle and Chad, Mahria and Mike, Cody, Kurtis, Danielle and Eileen, and Derek.  Great-grandfather of Cohen, Carter and Hadley. Dear brother of Willa Ament.  Fondly remembered by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Bill Ropp, Fred and Verna Ropp, Marg and Bruce Bates, Doug and Valerie Ropp and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Predeceased by his parents Gerard Sr. and Marie Schalk, brothers Henk and wife Janet, Cor and wife Joyce, sister Erna and husband Bill Lucas and brother-in-law Gordon Ament.

(Bill) – of Route 1 Atwood, passed away peacefully on a crisp sunny morning in the comfort of his home, with the wood stove on, and the smell of bacon in the air, surrounded by his family on Wednesday December 2, 2015 at the age of 90. Well known as the owner of Frank’s Jewellers in Waterloo which he inherited from his father, and since 1975 the proud owner of the family farm near Atwood, Ontario.

Loving father and best friend of son Jim, son Bill and wife Heather, and son Bob and partner Leanne.  Special grandpa of Brittany, and Kelsey and friend Nathan.  Remembered by his niece, nephews and Helen Ann.

Predeceased by his parents William P. and Roxie B. Frank and his brother Douglas Frank.

The Frank family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all Dad’s caregivers and friends who made it possible for him to live his entire life in the comfort of his home.

Beloved wife of the late Jack Stone who predeceased her in 1994. Loving mother of John and Janette, Jamie and Louanna. Special grandma of Shane and Amanda, Dawson, Nicholas and Natalie.

Marcotte, Robert4Robert (Rob) Marcotte – of Listowel passed away after a lengthly battle with cancer, at KW Health Centre of Grand River Hospital on Wednesday October 21, 2015 at the age of 65. Rob was an avid outdoors man. He was a member of the Listowel Rifle and Revolver Club, enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, motorcycling, coaching and playing hockey and wood carving.
Beloved partner of Faye Yost. Father of Erika Marcotte and fiancé David Schwarzer of Utopia. Brother of Donald Marcotte, Gloria Floristein LeClair, John Tower and his wife Jean, and Joan Dougall. Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, cousins and by Faye’s family, Jenn and Curt Berfelz and their children Taynton and Brynn, Craig and Julianne Jantzi and their daughter Blakleigh and the extended Yost family.

Dunnell, William2William (Bill) Dunnell – of Trowbridge passed away unexpectedly at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Monday October 19, 2015 at the age of 71. Bill was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Listowel Br. 259 and the Army and Navy St. Mary’s Br. 265. He was a former player and Alumni of the St. Marys Lincolns hockey club. Wearing No. 3 he played defense for New Jersey in the American Hockey League. Bill was a player with the Listowel Oldtimers Hockey team, an avid golfer and former member of the Listowel Golf and Country Club.
Beloved husband of Judy (Hamilton) Dunnell. Loving father of Andrea and James Haines of Ottawa and Melissa and Paul Bartman of Listowel. Special grandpa of Madelyn, Ben, Hanly and Peyton. Step-father of Jeff Mathers and his son Charlie, Brad Mathers and Pam and their son Lane. Nethercott, KenKenneth (Ken) Nethercott – It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of Ken in the early morning hours of October 3, 2015 at Listowel Memorial Hospital in his 89th year. Ken was a faithful church member and very dedicated to Atwood United Church where he held many offices over the years. He was a former member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge No. 332 Atwood. His hobby was woodworking and over the years he made many treasures for family and friends. Ken loved reading, but farming was his passion and he was well known for the acres of strawberries that were enjoyed by so many.
He leaves to mourn his wife Eileen, daughter Nancy Sinnamon (Wayne), son Jim Nethercott (Christina), son Jeff Nethercott (Marie Claude), grandchildren Tyler, Natasha and fiancé Chris, Ryan, Noah, Adam and Clara, and sister-in-law Myrtle Nethercott. Fondly remembered by the Sturgeon and Smith families and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Clarence and Clara (McCrackin) Nethercott, his first wife Helen, his second wife Barbara, son John and brother Roy.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and appreciated nature, especially watching birds.

She was a member of the former Monkton Optimist Club, a participant in Monkton Minor sports as a coach and enjoyed playing slo-pitch. She had a great love for animals especially her dog Bella and her cats Sam and Pawz.

Machan,  LarryLarry Machan – of Monkton, passed away peacefully at Stratford General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer, on Sunday August 2, 2015 at the age of 76. Larry was the President of Machan Construction Ltd which he owned and operated with his brothers. Larry enjoyed going for drives with his friends to Goderich Harbour to watch the big ships and touring through the pits, and enjoyed getting to Tobermory to ride the Chi-Cheemaun. He spent plenty of time drinking a warm Canadian and was greatly interested in going to the Ritchie Bro’s Auctions.
Beloved husband of Wanda (Davey) Machan whom he married in 1971. Loving father of Sandra Machan and Tom Crowley, and Tammy Machan and John Newbigging. Dear son of Aldeen Machan. Brother of Bonnie Golightly and friend Phil Hudson, Fay Machan and Bob Mayberry, Gord and Joanne, Robert (Whitey), Russ, Gerald (Sam) and Roy. Brother-in-law of Elroy Davey, Sheila and Jerry Burrows, Nancy Steinbach and Jim McLlwain, Tom and Teresa Davey, Delbert and Kim Davey, James and Cindy Davey, and Brent Davey. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Semple, Beryl2SEMPLE, Beryl – formerly of RR1 Atwood, passed away peacefully at her residence in Listowel surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with ALS on Sunday July 5, 2015 at the age of 75. Beryl was a faithful member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Listowel where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for many years. She was Past President of Knox Presbyterian W.M.S., volunteered at Youth for Christ in Listowel and was an active member of the Retired Women Teachers Association of Ontario. After her retirement, she tutored children with learning disabilities and those who struggled with reading, writing and arithmetic. Beryl loved spending time with her family, especially her two grandchildren.
Beloved wife of John Semple with whom she would have celebrated 55 years of marriage with on July 30. Loving mother of Karyn (Brad) French, and Brad Semple. Special grandma of Emma and Josh French. Fondly remembered by her nephew Greg and his wife Shannon Byermann and their children Courtney and John.
Predeceased by her parents Ken and Ialeen (Stimore) McFarlane and her sister Doreen and husband Melvin (Bob) Byermann.

Thompson, MacTHOMPSON, Andrew McKeever (Mac) – of Listowel, formerly of RR4 Listowel, passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer on Thursday June 18, 2015 at the age of 85. Mac was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Listowel where he served as Elder for over 30 years. He was an active member of the North Perth Seniors and the Independent Order of Oddfellows Avon Lodge. Mac was also past president of the Listowel Agricultural Society and a charter member of the Listowel Curling Club.
Beloved husband of Phyllis (Armstrong) Thompson whom he married in 1954. Loving father of Ross Thompson, Rick Thompson and Marie Laidlaw, Julie and John Haug, Lynn and Marc Lagerway, Jane Wahl and friend Randy Schubert, Joan and Paul Deacon, Bruce and Shellie Thompson, Lisa Thompson and friend Tammy VanKoughnett. Special grandpa of Ryan, Shawn, Andrew, Leanne, Matthew, Josie, Jackson, Aaron, Jessica, Carrie, Cody and great-grandpa of Zack, Brooklyn, Pheonix, Jaxon and Jase. Jack was a member and Elder Emeritus of Knox Presbyterian Church, Listowel. During his dairy farming years, Jack was active with the Milk Marketing Board and the Cheese Board. He enjoyed reading and was a fan of all types of sports.
Beloved husband of Donalda (Jackson) Corry whom he married in 1957. Loving father of David and Tanya Corry of Red Deer, Alberta, Mary Corry and Jim Moisse of Kitchener, James Corry of RR1 Atwood and Robert Corry of Wallace Township. Gerber, DanDan Gerber – of Millbank, passed away suddenly as a result of a heart attack, at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Wednesday June 3, 2015 at the age of 70. Dan was a member of Poole Mennonite Church. His hobby of restoring John Deere tractors began in 1996 and turned into a full time job with his son Tony in 2003. Dan loved spending time with his family, especially sports events with his grandchildren and more recently enjoyed time riding his motorcycle.
Beloved husband of Darlene (Schwartzentruber) Gerber whom he married in 1970. Loving father of Jamie Gerber and Livian Gould, Tony Gerber and Cathy Steckly. Cherished grandpa of Jordyn, Brady and Joshua. Dear brother of Mahlon and Anna Mae Gerber, Dorothy and Amos Lichty, brother-in-law of Gloria and Gary Boshart, and Bonnie and Dennis Stemmler. Fondly remembered by Jordyn and Brady’s mother Lynnette and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Theresia Clazina (Freeman) Cadeddu, formerly of Atwood, passed away peacefully at her residence in Caressant Care Nursing Home, Listowel on Saturday May 23, 2015 at the age of 87. Theresia was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Listowel.
Beloved wife of the late Salvatore (Sam) Cadeddu who predeceased her on August 6, 2014. Theresia and Salvatore met each other in the sixties in Perugia Italy, where Theresia studied the Italian language and Sam lived at that time. They were married in 1967 and they had a very close relationship together. Fondly remembered by her sisters-in-law Paula Van der Putt, Annerieke Smulders and her nieces and nephews in Holland.
Predeceased by her parents Gerard Pieter Freeman and Adriana Helena Raats, brothers Robert Freeman, Gerard Pieter Freeman, sister Helena Adriana Freeman and brother-in-law Jan Peters.
In keeping with Theresia’s wishes, cremation will take place. A memorial service for Theresia and Sam will be held at Brenneman Funeral Home, Atwood on Thursday June 11, 2015 at 7:30 p.m.

Lindner, VeraVera Louise Pehlke-Lindner – passed away peacefully at Guelph General Hospital on Saturday May 23, 2015 at the age of 88. She was born on October 9, 1926 to William and Freda (Kahle) Bennewies. On June 2, 1948 she married Wilfred Pehlke. They farmed in Elma Township until they retired to Monkton in May of 1979. Wilfred passed away December 26, 1979. She later married Milton Lindner on June 23, 1984 and he passed away October 16, 2001.
Survived by her children Howard and Ruth Anne, Linda, Ron and Jacquie, Jeff, Brad, Steven and companion Norma Wilker, her brother Ivan Bennewies and his friend Vera Ahrens. Remembered by her grandchildren, Kim, Janice (Trevor McLeod), Lee, David, Barb and Tonya, great grandchildren Michelle and Andrew and many nieces and nephews. Sister-in-law of Lorene Ryan, Lillian and George Smith, Elsie Tryfry and Joan Pehlke. Fondly remembered by five step-children Bernice Lindner, Wayne and Dianne Lindner, Maryann and Norm Yost, Linda Lindner, Murray and Lorraine Lindner, Mark and Patty-Jo Lindner, several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
