Fisher, ErlmeFISHER, Erlme Anne – passed away quietly at ListowelMemorialHospital on Saturday April 19, 2014 at the age of 78. Erlme was a member of Atwood Presbyterian Church and the Women’s Missionary Society. She taught school in HowickTownship, CarrickTownship, Maryborough, City of Brampton and at the Midwestern Regional Centre for many years. Erlme’s stories and love of her very good friends will be missed.

Erlme was the daughter of the late Clifford and Isobel (Dixon) Stewart. She was predeceased by her brother Alex in infancy, her brother Beverley and nephew Sean.

At Erlme’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Atwood Presbyterian Church on Friday April 25, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Andrew Thompson officiating. Interment in CliffordCemetery.

In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to acknowledge Erlme’s life are asked to make a donation to a charity of one’s choice.

Shinkle, MargaretMargaret (Polly) Ida Christina (Hulley) Shinkle – passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday April 3, 2014 in Mesa, Arizona.  Margaret was born July 2, 1935 in Silver Corners, Ontario.

Cherished mother of Gilbert Shinkle (Christine) and Rebecca Christensen (Michael).  Loving grandmother of David Whitton, Christopher Whitton (Erin), Sergeant James Patrick Christensen, Petty Officer Second Class Rickie Lee Shinkle, Corisa Christensen and Miranda Christensen.  Great grandmother of Joshua Whitton, Courtney Whitton, Noah Whitton, Jackson (Jax) Whitton and Kylie Whitton.  Great great grandmother of Oliver Burnham.  Loving sister of Gordon (Porky) Hulley (Elsie), Gladys Haldenby (Doug), Lawrence Hulley (Joan), Warren Hulley (Sharon) and sister-in-law of Nancy Hulley.  Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Margaret has left us to join her beloved husband Donald Shinkle, her eldest daughter Debra Whitton, her loving parents Jack and Margaret Hulley, her brothers Robert and Norman Hulley, her niece Donna Rutledge and her great nephew Kasey Pestell.

Beloved wife of the late Lee Wardlaw who predeceased her in 1980. Loving mother of Susan Wardlaw Beales of Waterloo and Carol and Beny Craftchick of Brantford. Special grandma of Calan Beales and Lindsay Craftchick.

Predeceased by her parents David and Ethel (Ford) Finley.

Beloved partner of Ken (Clem) Davidson.  Dear sister of Rose White of Stratford, Fern and Paul Maedel of Thedford, Ross Illman of Stratford, Bob and Barb Illman of Gorrie, Ted and Judy Illman of RR1 Monkton, Joyce Deslippe of St. Marys, Neil Illman of Brussels and sister-in-law of Tony Peachey of Brussels.  Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and the Davidson family.

Predeceased by her parents Frank and Lillian Illman, her husband Bob Gropp, daughter Tabitha, sister Lillie Peachey and brother Douglas Illman.

Upper, PearlPearl Upper – passed away peacefully at Caressant Care Nursing Home on Saturday December 21, 2013 at the age of 97.  Pearl was a member of Atwood Presbyterian Church, a life member of the Presbyterian Womens Missionary Society, a charter and life member of the Bruce Chapter Order of the Eastern Star Kincardine and past Noble Grand of Huron Star Rebekah Lodge Ripley.

Beloved wife of the late John Upper who predeceased her in 1991.  Loving mother of John and Marilyn of Ottawa.  Special grandma of Tracey Beaupre and her husband Todd, and Sheri Upper and her husband Neil Wiltshire.  Pearl experienced much love from two great grandchildren, Claire and Cameron Beaupre.  Fondly remembered by nieces and nephews.

Pearl was the last surviving member of her family being predeceased by her brothers George and his wife June Dahmer, Alfred and his wife Dorothy Dahmer and her sister Margaret and her husband Lloyd Sage.

Partridge, LeonardPARTRIDGE, Leonard – of Mitchell, formerly of Monkton, passed away peacefully at Stratford General Hospital on Wednesday September 4, 2013 at the age of 91.  Leonard was a member of Monkton United Church where he taught Sunday School for 40+ years.  He was a very proud member of the Monkton Lions Club where he held various positions including President.  Leonard was the first Monkton Lion to receive the Melvin Jones Fellowship as recognition of humanitarian work.  He enjoyed fishing and looking after the electrical maintenance at Monkton Poultry Farm.

Beloved husband of the late Doris (Davidson) Partridge who predeceased him in 2005.  Loving father of Larry and Lillian Partridge of Kinmount, Don and Ruth Ann Partridge of RR1 Atwood.  Special grandpa of Terry and Tammy, Paul and Karen, Bruce and Cathy, Karen, Nancy, great-grandpa of Jackie, Trevor, Erica, Lauren, Ian and step great-grandpa of Jaimie, Danielle, Kaleb, Sharayah, Joshua and Leland.  Dear brother of Janet and Klaas Kroesen of Monkton.  Fondly remembered by the Davidson family and many nieces and nephews.

Crawford, FredaFreda (Pfohl) Crawford – of Brussels, formerly of Cranbrook, passed away peacefully at Huronlea Home for the Aged on Wednesday June 12, 2013 at the age of 87. Freda was a faithful member of Cranbrook Presbyterian Church.  She will be remembered by many as a firm but fair school teacher.  Freda was most rewarded by time spent with her husband Murray working with and registering purebred Holstein cows.  She also took great pride in the drawings she did of Holstein calves.

Beloved wife of the late Murray Crawford who predeceased her in 2003. Loving mother of Mary Lynn and Charles Bray of Walkerton, Glen and Brenda Crawford of RR1 Monkton, Hugh and Joanne Crawford of RR1 Monkton.  Special grandma of Bonnie and Jeff and their children Gregory and Samantha; Cindy; Melanie and Trevor and their children Natasha and Wade; Adam and Melissa and their children Austin, Tanisha, Cheyenne; Mark and Erin; Steven; and Christopher.  Fondly remembered by her sisters-in-law Marie Simpson and Lillian Masselis both of St. Marys and many nieces & nephews.

Barton, JimJames (Jim) Barton – The Massey tractor stands quiet as Jim Barton of Atwood has taken his final drive, passing away at Listowel Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family on May 18, 2013 at the age of 87.  Jim was a passive man who loved to tinker in his shop rebuilding cars, tractors, and making anything old new again.  He enjoyed spending time with family and special great grandchildren at the Point Clarke cottage telling long stories of past times.

Beloved husband of Dorothy (Johnson) Barton whom he married in 1949.   Loving father of Elizabeth Long of RR1 Elmwood and Lois Robertson of Atwood. Special gramps of Shelley Long, Kelly Robertson and Kevin Jackson, Tim Robertson and Carla Shaw.  Very special papa of Brody and Sophie Jackson.  Fondly remembered by sister-in-law Elaine Carson of Listowel and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Hamilton, Don 3Hamilton, Don – of Listowel formerly of Kitchener, passed away peacefully with family by his side at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Tuesday May 14, 2013 at the age of 79.  Don opened his heart to many people.  This was shown by his ten years of volunteering to drive patients to and from their many appointments for the Canadian Cancer Society.  He became a good friend to many.

Jacklin, DorisDoris Jacklin – passed away peacefully at her residence in Huronlea Home for the Aged, Brussels on Monday April 29, 2013 at the age of 88.  Doris was formerly of RR2 Bluevale, was a member of the former Ethel United Church and Ethel Women’s Institute.  She enjoyed quilting, sewing, bingo and had received numerous trophies for her bowling at Molesworth Lanes.

Beloved wife of the late Archie Jacklin who predeceased her in 1995. Loving mother of Gloria Bowman of Listowel.  Predeceased by her children Barry (2008), Keith (2009) and Ruth (2003).  Special grandma of Barry and Laura, Wayne and Doreen, Tammy, Trevor and Carrie, Charlotte, Virginia, Mike and Janey and great grandma of Jordon, Destin, Daunte, Brody, Taylor, Shaelee, Abbey, Amelia and Zoe.  Dear sister of Elmer and Eileen Hall of Trowbridge, Mildred Schnock of Dublin and Edith Stevenson of Ethel.  Fondly remembered by many nieces & nephews.

Brown, Margaret Belle (nee Leake) – passed away peacefully at her residence in Royal Terrance Nursing Home, Palmerston on Saturday April 27, 2013 at the age of 98.  Margaret was formerly of Monkton where she was a faithful member of Knox Presbyterian Church.  She will be lovingly remembered for her love of gardening and needlework.

Beloved wife of the late Howard Brown who predeceased her in 1978. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents Benson and Georgina (Lawson) Leake and her brother Dr. Lawson Leake and his wife Marion.

GERBER, Doreen – of Brunner passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday March 27, 2013 at the age of 79.  Doreen was a member of Poole Mennonite Church where she was active in Poole Women in Mission and had served on the Food Committee and as a Bible School teacher.  She was a coordinator for the Diner’s Club and volunteered at the New to You Thrift Store in Milverton.  She enjoyed knitting, sewing, quilting and reading.

Lucas, William (Bill) – Tragically, as the result of a car accident, Bill passed away on Saturday January 19, 2013 at the age of 84.  Bill resided in Atwood and was a member of Atwood United Church.  He farmed his whole life and enjoyed hunting and bowling.  Bill was well known for his lengthy and interesting stories.

Beloved husband of the late Erna (Schalk) Lucas who predeceased him in 2001.  Loving father of Jim and Bernice Lucas of RR2 Atwood.  Special grandpa of Laura, Jason and Maria Lucas.  Brother of Annie Briscoe of California and brother-in-law of Cor Schalk of Milverton, Willa Ament of Listowel, Gerard and Edith Schalk of Listowel.  Fondly remembered by many nieces & nephews.

Lloyd Smart passed away peacefully at his residence in Knollcrest Lodge, Milverton on Friday November 9, 2012 at the age of 81. Lloyd was a member of Heritage Mennonite Church, Millbank. He enjoyed singing and song leading as music was a big part of his life. Lloyd also enjoyed traveling and socializing with his Christian community of friends who were extremely important to him. Lloyd worked in the medical profession where he met his wife Lydia over 50 years ago. He always looked forward to spending time with his family and extended foster children family.
Beloved husband of the late Lydia (Overholt) Smart who predeceased him in 2005. Loving father of Russell Smart and Lia Gebremicael of Stratford, Sherry Smart of Milverton and Connie Walters of Stratford.
