Roberta Rocher – passed away peacefully at her residence in Caressant Care Nursing Home, Listowel on Tuesday June 13, 2017 at the age of 89.

Beloved wife of the late Calvin Rocher who predeceased her in 1992.  Step-mother of Barb Argue, and Ross and Nora Rocher.  Step-grandmother of Scott, Catherine and their families.  Dear sister of Elma Cooke.  Fondly remembered by Lenore Moser and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Predeceased by her parents Henry and Ellen (Woods) Dale, sister Catherine and brother Carl.

In keeping with Roberta’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation.  A graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Listowel on Wednesday June 28, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ralph Dwarika officiating.

KRUGEL, Marion of Listowel

Marion Krugel – of Listowel passed away surrounded by the love of her family at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Saturday April 29, 2017 at the age of 76. Marion was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she had volunteered her time in various roles.  She volunteered with the Canadian Cancer Society, North Perth Hospice and the VON as a former leader of the exercise program in Listowel and Monkton.  Marion enjoyed travelling, loved the outdoors, gardening, painting and photography.

Fondly remembered by her siblings Rose Marie Wright (Burlington), Verna (Alfred) Young (Mitchell) and John Krugel (Listowel).  Dearly missed by her special nephew Bill (Cheryl) Young, great nephew Lucas, great nieces Anita and Catharine Young all of Monkton and loving Aunt Marjorie Kaufman (Listowel).  Also survived by her nieces Sandra (Vic) Farrow, Darlene Kosonic, Joanne Young, Yvonne Yarker, Carol Young and great nieces and nephews Donald, Julia, Stephon, Jeremy and Rebecca.

Predeceased by her parents John and Dorothy (Illman) Krugel and brother-in-law Ron Wright.

In keeping with Marion’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  Visitation will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Listowel on Saturday May 6, 2017 from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. followed by the memorial service to celebrate her life at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ralph Dwarika officiating.  Entombment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.

REDDECOPP, David of RR1 Linwood

David Reddecopp – of Linwood, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday April 26, 2017 at the age of 46. He and his family were on a trip when he died of complications of a grand mal seizure in Longview Texas.  David was a member of the Lighthouse Gospel Church.  He repented of his sins and received Jesus as his Lord and Saviour on May 8, 1996.  He was baptized on October 20, 1996.

Beloved husband of Susana (Peters) Reddecopp whom he married in 1996.  Loving father of Alexander, Sandra, Abigail, Jeremiah, Benaiah, Isabella, Anita, Theodor, Timothy, John, Galina and Armando.  Son of Aganetha (Froese) Redecopp.  Brother of Anna and John Thiessen, Maria and Jake Redecop, Nancy Redecop, Isaac and Susan Reddecopp, Pedro and Tina Reddecopp.  Fondly remembered by his mother-in-law Susana Peters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Henry and Maria Knelsen, Bill and Anita Dyck, Doug and Tina Kroeker, Martin and Eva Fast, David and Elisa Friesen, David and Margarita Harder, Abe and Vonda Dyck.

ROCK, Mark H. of Atwood

 Rock, Mark H. – of Atwood, went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Saturday April 22, 2017 at the age of 65. Mark was an organ donor who was able to give the gift of life to others.  He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Listowel.  Mark enjoyed talking to anyone and sharing his faith with them and was always seen wearing a cowboy hat.  He worked hard, participated in mission projects in Bolivia and also enjoyed travelling with Kathy especially to Tennessee.

Cherished and dearly loved husband of Kathy (McCallum) Rock whom he married in 1975. Loving father of Michelle Vanlochem (Marcel), Amanda Rock, Naomi Rock and April Rock.  Cherished grandpa of Eliana, Tobias, Myla and Zemirah.  Brother and brother-in-law of Joel (Marilyn), Marg Rock and Barbara Rock.  Fondly remembered by his mother-in-law Margaret McCallum, brother-in-law Jim McCallum, Rebecca Rock, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Predeceased by his parents John and Myrn (Diehl) Rock, brothers Raymond, Donald, and John and father-in-law Jim McCallum.

Berniece McEwen – of Route 3 Monkton, passed away surrounded by the love of her family, at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Tuesday April 4, 2017 at the age of 78. Berniece was an active member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Monkton.  She enjoyed knitting and reading and was a Monkton Wildcat, Monkton Muskrats, Toronto Maple Leaf and Toronto Blue Jay fan.  She worked for many years at the former Mary’s Truck Stop in Monkton.  Berniece lovingly supported her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in whatever endeavor they undertook.

George Smith – formerly of Atwood, passed away peacefully at Caressant Care Nursing Home, Listowel on Sunday March 12, 2017 at the age of 83. George was a member of Atwood Presbyterian Church where he had served as Elder.  He was a Charter/Life member of the Atwood Lions Club and a recipient of the Lions Club International Melvin Jones Fellowship, the foundations highest honor in recognition of his commitment to humanitarian work.  He enjoyed horse racing, playing Lost Heir with his Atwood friends, NCO dancing and when living in Atwood, walking his poodles with his neighbor Jack Peebles.

Beloved husband of Lillian (Pehlke) Smith with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.  Loving father of Kevin (Julia), Cheryl Dominski (Andrzej), Ted (Cara) and Sean (Kate).  Special grandpa of Mia, Michael (Charisse), Julianne, Travis, Kelsey, Jackson, Quinn, Emily, and Matthew.  Fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Joan Pehlke and many nieces and nephews.

Debbie Purcell – of Newton, passed away at Listowel Memorial Hospital with her husband by her side on Tuesday February 21, 2017 at the age of 57. Debbie joins her mother Barbara Nafziger who predeceased her eight days ago on February 13th.  She was a thrift store enthusiast and enjoyed gardening and walking her dog.  Debbie loved the times she spent baking, cooking and talking on the telephone with her family.

Beloved wife of Doug Purcell whom she married in 1977.  Loving mother and grandmother of Cory and Melissa and their children Cheyenne, Trevor, Caroline and Caitlyn; Natashia and Mike Cassel and their children Makayla, Dakota and Brielle; Devin and Tessa and their children Jack, Ruby and Grace.  Dear sister of Connie Cassel (Steve), Frances Royal (Joe), Paul Nafziger (Jen), Calvin Nafziger (Heidi).  Cherished daughter of John and the late Barbara (Herrfort) (2017) Nafziger.  Fondly remembered by the extended Purcell family and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

NAFZIGER, Barbara – of Newton passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kitchener on Monday February 13, 2017 at the age of 78. Barb enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting and making crafts which she exhibited at numerous fall fairs.  She was a yard sale enthusiast and loved spending time playing games with her family.

Beloved wife of John Nafziger whom she married in 1959.  Loving mother of Connie Cassel (Steve), Debbie Purcell (Doug), Frances Royal (Joe), Paul (Jen), and Calvin (Heidi).  Special grandma of Shane, Dean (Erin), Cory (Melissa), Natashia (Mike), Devin (Tessa), Sabrina (James), Jordan (Melissa), Michael, Samantha (Matthew), Jessica, Rachel and great grandma of 14.  Remembered by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Marlene Herrfort, Bernice Herrfort, Edna Tigani, Robert Nafziger (Rose), Jake Nafziger (Sharon), Donald Nafziger, Bill Nafziger (Judy) and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

HAHN, Melissa (Dippy) – passed away peacefully at her residence RR 3 Monkton on Friday February 3, 2017 one day before her 42nd birthday. Melissa was a dialysis patient at Stratford General Hospital for twelve years.  She will be remembered by everyone for her determination to live through one crisis after another.  She taught everyone around her to live in the moment.  Melissa enjoyed many things in life – family celebrations and attending her brother’s midget hockey games.  Faith, family, friends and her love of music fulfilled Melissa’s life.

Cherished daughter of Bruce and Diane (Metzger) Hahn.  Dear sister of Darrick Hahn (Jane Barkley), Bill Hahn (Jennifer MacNeil), Pam Brame (Trevor), Charlene (Punk) Hahn, Adam Hahn (Megan Weitzel), Christopher Smith.  Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews Noah, Mira, Eadie, Kaden, Ashlyn, Jimmy and Owen.  Also remembered by special friends Aaron Smith, Lisa Satchell, Heidi Long, Mary Ellen Ropp and her aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbours and friends.

KENNY, Christina Victoria of Calgary

KENNY, Christina Victoria, passed away of viral meningitis at her residence in Calgary on January 25, 2017.  Beloved daughter of Clare and Stirling Kenny, twin sister of Mark Kenny (wife Jennifer) and aunt of Lauren Lee Kenny, all of Guelph, sister of Brent Kenny (wife Danielle) and aunt of Grace Katharine Kenny, all of Toronto.  She was predeceased by her sister, Katharine (Katie) Kenny.  Vikki attended Avon Public School and Stratford Central.  She always had wonderful memories of growing up in Stratford and spending every summer at the family cottage in Oakwood Park, Grand Bend, where, for many years she enjoyed working at J Dee’s Summerhouse.  After high school she spent two years as an au pair living in Oldenburg, Germany, followed by a year in Paris.

After graduating from college, she served as a Master Corporal in the Canadian Armed Forces, for ten years at CFB Borden near Barrie, then three years in Edmonton in the Military Police. In 2013 she transferred from the Regular Forces to the Reserve Force.  She then moved to Calgary when she was employed by the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires for Southern Alberta, and also worked at the Calgary Drop-In and Rehabilitation Society.

She missed Ontario and wanted to move back to be closer to family and friends. Vikki was to arrive shortly to be Godmother for her new niece, Grace Katharine Kenny.

Vikki had the most amazing blue eyes and always lit up every room with that wonderful smile. She loved animals and walked dogs for the Humane Society and always had a cat for a companion.  She will be sorely missed by her many friends here in Ontario and in Edmonton and Calgary.

Cremation has taken place in Calgary. A private family service will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Stratford, Ontario.  A celebration of Vikki’s life will take place at a later date in the summer, at the family cottage in Oakwood Park, Grand Bend, at which time her ashes will be committed to the family garden alongside those of her sister Katie.

PETRIE, Muriel of Milverton

Muriel Petrie – passed away peacefully at Knollcrest Lodge, Milverton on Monday December 12, 2016 at the age of 94.  Muriel was a member of the former Donegal United Church, Donegal UCW and a past president of the Donegal Women’s Institute.  She was a former 4H Leader in Perth County and a former crossing guard in Milverton.  In the late 1950’s, Muriel obtained her nurses aid certificate and proudly worked at Knollcrest Lodge.

Dear mother of Donna Patterson (Jim), Ken Petrie, Bill Petrie, Maureen Houston (Vince Bergin) and Bob Petrie.  Special grandma of Ken, David, Richard, Scott, Kyle, Jill, Amy, Jonathon, and Jennifer.  Sister of Earl Buchanan.  Fondly remembered by her 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents William and Alice (Thorndyke) Buchanan, daughter-in-law Deanna Petrie, sisters Marie Blackwell (Tom), Mary Park (Steve), brother Alvin Buchanan (Minnie) and sister-in-law Vera Buchanan.

Lilias Posliff – formerly of Monkton, passed away peacefully at Knollcrest Lodge, Milverton on Sunday December 11, 2016 at the age of 102. Lilias and her husband Charles (Parker) operated a hardware store in Monkton for 20 years and later an antique store known as Parker’s Ponderosa.

Beloved wife of the late Charles Posliff who predeceased her in 1991. Loving mother of Marian Harvey (Bob) of Stratford and Jake Posliff (Heather) of Nanaimo, BC.  Special grandma of Alandra (Wanda) Anderson (David), Janice Harvey (Bob), Robert Posliff (Hang), Stephen Posliff (Jamie) and great grandma of Mason (Jenelle), Sam, Aidan, Brendan, Jessica, Tim and Tanis.  Sister of Robert Adair (Alice) of Mississauga.  Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

kropf-estherEsther Kropf – passed away peacefully at Knollcrest Lodge, Milverton with her family by her side on Saturday November 26, 2016 at the age of 91. Esther was a member of Poole Mennonite Church where she was a former member of the ladies Sewing Circle.  She enjoyed working as a Home Care worker in the Waterloo area for many years.  Esther also enjoyed crocheting and quilting and loved spending time at their trailer at Miller’s Family Camp at Miller Lake.

Beloved wife of Ralph Kropf with whom she celebrated 69 years of marriage on November 9th.  Loving mother of Karen Schultz (Robert), Larry (Debbie), Bruce (Donelda) and Terry Lynn Gropp (Bruce).  Cherished grandma of Julie White (Ron) and their children Lexi and Dawson; Mark Schultz (Henrietta) and their children Zach and Chloe; Stephanie Kearsey (Mark) and their children Quinn, Koen and Saige; Samantha King (Mark) and their children Addyson and Gavyn; Amanda Wagler (Eric) and their son Miles; Anthony Kropf; Eric Kropf and step grandchildren Hillis, Damon and Shane Halbert.  Dear sister of Laura Kipfer and sister-in-law of Margaret Henning.  Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Poole Mennonite Church, 6475 Road 121, Poole, on Wednesday November 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Thursday December 1, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Steve Brnjas officiating.  Interment to follow in the adjoining church cemetery.

amentWilla Ament – formerly of Atwood, passed away peacefully at Caressant Care Nursing Home, Listowel on Sunday November 6, 2016 at the age of 82. Willa was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Listowel.  She enjoyed knitting, time spent at the trailer in Port Elgin, campfires, singing, playing cards and board games and especially cherished time spent with her grandchildren.

Beloved wife of the late Gordon Ament who predeceased her in 2000. Loving mother of Brian (predeceased 1985), Linda (Keith) Holmes and Paul (Mary Lynne) Ament.  Special grandma of Kelly (Wes) and their children Aaron and Brennan; Stacey, Mark (Lindsey), Marlee and Brynn.  Sister-in-law of Edith Schalk and Eileen Ament.  Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Willa was the last surviving member of her family being predeceased by her parents Gerard Sr. and Marie (Schyff) Schalk, brothers Henk (Janet), Cor (Joyce), Gerard, and sister Erna (Bill) Lucas.

Harvey was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Monkton and a former volunteer firefighter with the Monkton Fire Station.  He enjoyed playing cards and fishing for speckled trout.

Beloved husband of Eldeen (Raycraft) Ward with whom he would have shared 66 years of marriage on November 4th.  Loving father of Doug (Elaine), Daryle (Kim), Lyle (Heidi).  Special grandpa of Cory (Sherry Lynn), Tarra (Gary), Angie, Jennifer, Tim (Rosanna), Jeremy (Melinda) Christina (Ben), Micheal (Angie), Derek (Andrea), April (Derek), Devon (Sarah), 31 great-grandchildren and 5 step great-grandchildren.  Brother and brother-in-law of Sally Scott, Jim Ward, Olive Ward, Terry Ward and Ruth Ward.  Fondly remembered by the Ward nieces and nephews, Rick Davidson (Diann) and the extended Raycraft family.

dewar-tom2-001DEWAR, Thomas (Tom) – of Listowel, formerly of RR2 Atwood, passed away after a brief illness at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Thursday October 13, 2016 at the age of 77. Tom was a true farmer, spending time at the farmer’s markets at Kitchener and Waterloo Stockyards and Listowel Livestock, but always found time to enjoy camping at Family Paradise Campground and playing Lost Heir.  He took great pride in his Ford 8N tractor.

Beloved husband of Lorraine (Pestell) Dewar whom he married in 1960.  Loving father of Deb Best, Paul (Jodie) and Greg (Cindy). Special grandpa of Dennis (Mel), Darryl (Lisa), Candace (Jeramey), Chelsea (Steve) and great- grandpa of Lily and Bryson.  Dear brother of Shirley Buchanan, Jessie Buchanan, Marj (Paul) Krauter and Dorie Wagner (Ron Hartman).  Brother-in-law of Mary Strachan, Larry Pestell (Arlene Riehl), Faye Welsh (Ken), Robert Pestell, Andy Buchanan, Elaine Pestell, Lillian Pestell and Pauline Pestell. Remembered by many cousins, nieces, nephews and Barry Wagner.

Jo-Anne Hurst – of Newry, after a 4 1/2 year illness passed away peacefully with her husband by her side at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Saturday October 8, 2016 at the age of 60. For many years Jo-Anne worked for Newry and Monkton Veterinary Services.  She then started her own secretarial services business with 22 years at Hutchinson Welding and 14 years at Maitland Terrace.  Jo-Anne’s commitment and gift to the work force was her compassion and love she extended to everyone she touched.

Beloved wife of Glen Hurst whom she married in 1974. Loving mother of Ann-Marie (Ken) Rehberg and Travis Hurst.  Special nana of Jocelyn who predeceased her in 2012 and Jordan Rehberg.  Dear sister of Gerard (Karenann) Herrgott, Donna Herrgott, Julie (Rick) Brubacher and sister-in-law of Lloyd (Mary Ann) Hurst.  Fondly remembered by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Beth resided at Country Meadows Retirement Home, Brunner and was a faithful member of Redeemer Lutheran Church Monkton.  She enjoyed spending time with her family at the cottage, knitting, crocheting and gardening.

Beloved wife of the late Elmer Pehlke who predeceased her in 2004.  Loving mother of Diane (deceased 2012) and Terry Dietrich, Eric and Kathy Pehlke, Brian Pehlke, Keith and Kathy Pehlke, Janet and Donald Buchanan. Jean was a member of Atwood United Church and a former member of the Listowel Chapter of the Rebekah Lodge.  She was well known for operating Jean’s Snack Bar for 29 years.

Beloved wife of the late Harold McNaughton who predeceased her in 2007. Step-mother of Glenn (Ada) McNaughton.  Sister-in-law of Anna Blatchford.  Dear aunt of Clarence (Donna) Johnston, Anne (Graham) Kaufman and Ernest (Janette) Blatchford and their families.  Fondly remembered by the extended McNaughton family.
