Doug was a member of the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union  U.A. 496, Calgary and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Loving father of Alan Smith of Windsor, Sherry Martin (Don) of Texas. Dear husband of Norma (Jewett) McNeill. Loving dad to sons Gordon (Deanna), Jeffrey (Jodi); daughter Pamela; step dad  to Nathan, Rodney (Marion), Lorey and Jeffrey (Julie); Grandpa and Papa Ray to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survived by his sisters Ruth Drost and Ruby Klassen (Bill); brothers Bruce (Betty), Maurice (Kristi); also survived by several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Born in Thamesville, son of the late Alexander and Johanna (Mackenzie) Bain, George owned and operated A. Bain and Son Welding in Thamesville from 1950 until his retirement in 1993. George was in the Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment reserve, was Past President and life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br.#367, Thamesville and a member of St. James Presbyterian Church, Thamesville. Beloved husband of the late Shirley (Black) Bain (2004). Loving father of John and Susan Bain of Waterloo, Charles Bain of Banff, Beverley and Dennis King of Georgetown. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Spencer and Fraser Bain, Madeleine, Allyda, and Ian King. Dear brother of Joanne Watson. Predeceased by his sister Barbara Atkinson and brother William “Bill” Bain. The Bain family will receive friends at the John C. Badder Funeral Home, 72 Victoria St., Thamesville on Thursday evening from 7-9pm. A Legion Memorial Service will take place at 6:45pm. He was the 4th of 7 children born to Archie and Dorothy (Munro) McNeill on the family farm which he worked until the last few years. Beloved husband for 29 years of M. Elizabeth (Betty) McNeill. Kind brother of Ruth Drost  and her late husband Bill, Bruce and Betty McNeill, Maurice and Kristi McNeill, Ruby and Bill Klassen, Roy and Norma McNeill,and  the late (Lloyd) and his wife Betty McNeill.
