Passed away suddenly in an accident while working in Grand Prairie, Alberta on Saturday August 11th, 2012 at the age of 25. Brodie is the cherished son of Linda Patterson and her husband Paul Veriker and loving brother to Bailey and Briar Armitage and to Nick, Adam, and Mark Veriker.  Brodie is the nephew of Forrest (Frankie) and Don (Jeannie), Aunt Karen and cousin to Forrest Jr., Kevin, and Cassandra. Predeceased by his father Robert “Army” Armitage, Nanna Mae Armitage, and his Nanny (Gladys) and Papa (Fred) Patterson. Brodie, “Bro”, will be fondly remembered by his family and friends for his generous spirit, creativity, work ethic, sense of adventure, and love of cars. Brodie found his passion for auto mechanics early in life while working with his dad at his shop and later under the guidance of the staff at Alexander Mackenzie Secondary School. Brodie completed an apprenticeship program at St. Clair College and Air, Land and Sea to become a certified auto technician. When he wasn’t at work he could be found at home working on his own vehicles. Brodie customized several cars and trucks and became well known for his artistry and creativity.  His “lower truck”, “upper truck”, and “mud truck” were truly works of wonder. Brodie readily offered his knowledge and expertise to many friends needing a helping hand with their own vehicles. Brodie was a proud member of the car club, The Twisted Whips, and will be dearly missed by his fellow members and friends. The Filthy Five Hunt Club in northern Ontario held a special place in Brodie’s heart and many hunting and fishing adventures were had by him and his “boys” there. Brodie’s sense of adventure and desire to try new things recently drew him to Alberta where he was proud to work for Halliburton. Special thanks to the staff at Halliburton for their support at this difficult time.  Brodie left a large footprint in his short time with us. Family and friends will be received on Friday, August 17, 2012 at SMITH FUNERAL HOME 1576 London Line, Sarnia from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.  A celebration of Brodie’s life will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 12 noon.  Cremation will follow. In honour of Brodie’s achievements at Alexander Mackenzie S.S., a charitable bursary has been formed in his name. The bursary will assist students who have overcome adversity, and wish to enter an apprenticeship.
