Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, in the company of family.  He was in his 97th year and still celebrating life up to the very end.  He will be dearly missed by his devoted wife Odette (nee Suess), they shared a wonderful life together for 61 years.  Archie will be sadly missed by daughter Elisabeth, son Andrew and wife Michelle, grandchildren Emily and Daniel.  He is remembered and loved by relatives in Scotland, England, and Switzerland and the many friends he gathered over his years. Immigrating to Canada in 1952, Archie started his long career with Imperial Oil. His retirement years were spent volunteering in many wonderful ways.  He was the beloved Mr. Bubbles at Bluewater Health for over 30 years, and loved the sing songs in the intermediate care every Monday.  Archie was still driving and volunteering one month ago.  He always filled his heart with fun, laughter and smiles.   Blessing the Haggis at Robbie Burns suppers, with his strong Scottish accent was a treat to hear.  He was a loving, open-hearted man and will be loved and deeply missed by his family and friends.  The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care that Archie received from the doctors and nurses at the palliative care unit at Bluewater Health and during his final days at the St Joseph’s Hospice. Memorial of Archie’s life will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Sarnia, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation at 10:00 a.m., and reception to follow in the church hall.  Memorial gifts to St. Joseph’s Hospice, St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, or charity of your choice would be much appreciated by the family.  Arrangements entrusted to SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
