Anderson- George Grierson of Elgin Manor and formerly of St. Thomas passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family on Sunday March 3, 2013 at his late residence in his 87th year. Beloved husband of 62 years of Margaret “Elizabeth”( Johnson) Anderson and loving father of Scott Anderson and Ian Anderson(Violet) all of St. Thomas and Diane Kharshoum (Joseph) of Brantford. Dear brother of Ruby Steel of Windsor. Predeceased by a sister Betty Schelhaas and brothers Jim and Stan Anderson. Dear grandfather of Nicholas, Christopher and Michael. Predeceased by a granddaughter Heather. Dear great grandfather of Mikayla, Austin, Hayley and Logan. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Dear brother-in-law of Ed Johnson of Michigan. George was born in Windsor on May 23rd, 1926, the son of the late John and Margaret (Robertson) Anderson. He was retired from Ford Motor Company, Talbotville (1976). George was a member of St. David’s Lodge #302 A.F. and A.M. , Scottish Rite 32’ , York Rite, Past Grand Master A.M.D., former member of the Eastern Star and was a Shriner. George served in the Navy during W.W.II and was a member of the Legion.
A Public service will be held at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. The Officers and Members of St. David’s Lodge #302 will conduct their service at 1:00 p.m. followed by the Memorial service. Cremation has taken place, with private scattering of ashes in the Scattering Gardens of the Old St. Thomas Churchyard Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:00-1:00 P.M. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
