It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Dorothy of Ottawa, at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, Monday November 26, 2012, at the young age of 90. Dorothy was the daughter of Minnie Miller(Varley) and Robert Colbourn Miller. She was predeceased by her loving husband Leslie Thomas Aldridge and was devoted mother to Leslie (Steve Weber), Laurie (Paul Craig) and Linda (Marcel Brunet). Dorothy (Nannie, Grandma) will be fondly remembered by grandchildren Jason (Kerry), Kristina, Nicholas, Michelle and Sophie and great grandchildren Samuel, Charlotte, Saydee, Chloe and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was born in Montreal Quebec, July 11, 1922. Raised in Noranda, with her sisters Florence Jean Peake (deceased) of Winnipeg and Isobel Margaret McPherson of St. Catharines, Dorothy met her husband, adding to her extended family. She is survived by her sister-in-law Hazel Plowman (Allan) and predeceased by brother-in-law Albert Alldridge (Peggy) of Ottawa. Following her husband’s Air Force career, she traveled abroad and in Canada settling in Ottawa. Dorothy valued family life, her longstanding CIBC career, her many friends and charities and was always ready with an easy smile and an extra place at the dinner table. The family would like to thank the staff at the Queensway Carleton Hospital for their kindness. Friends are invited to visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue (at Richmond), on Thursday, November 29th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Friday, November 30th at 11am. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Ottawa Food Bank or the charity of your choice.
