ahrens-webGeorge Ahrens, of Hanover, passed away at Hanover and District Hospital on Sunday, February 01, 2015. He was 90.

George was born in Brant Township, son of the late Arthur and Magdelena (Hossfeld) Ahrens. He was a mechanic by trade working for New Life Mills and Rothsay.

Survived by son Jim Ahrens of R. R. 1 Hanover, daughter Susan Teahen (George Schleifer) of Windsor, grandchildren Tara Teahen (Ted Ward) and Jodie Schleifer. Fondly remembered by Adela’s children Patricia Westerhout (Tim Widmeyer) of Hanover, Dennis (Marg) Schneider and Danny (deceased) (Helen) Schneider both of Southampton and their families.  He is remembered by his sister-in-law Helen Ahrens of Hanover.  Predeceased by his first wife Ruth (nee Harrison) Ahrens, second wife Adela (nee Yandt) Ahrens, brothers William Ahrens and Gerald Ahrens, sisters Lillian Ahrens and Margaret Rhody.

Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 04, 2015 at 11:00 am, at St. Matthew’s Ev. Lutheran Church. Rev. John Polacok officiating. Interment in Hanover Cemetery.

Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Parkinson Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
