Suddenly at her home on Saturday, April 29th, 2017 of Exeter in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late Bill Berends (2001) and Leonard (Bunny) Schenk (1972). Dear mother of Mary Lou and Rudy Villeneuve of Kitchener, Marj Green of Huron Park and Darlene Schenk of Exeter. Much loved grandmother of Karen Jones (Todd); Carrie Villeneuve, Chad Villeneuve; Jodi Green (Peter) and David Green (Michelle). Dear great-grandmother of Devon, Riley, Justine, Curtis and Jonathon and great-great-grandmother of Kiarra. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Mildred and Milan Nash, Ruby and William Bacon all of Scarborough, Alice and Robert Faveri of Winnipeg and Delmar and Maxine Miller of Goderich. Rosaleen will be sadly missed by the Berends and Schenk families as well as her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her son Jack (1999), grandson Jon (2013), sister Merla and brother Tom.

Friends may call at the Haskett Funeral Home, 370 William Street, EXETER on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM where the funeral service will be held on Friday May 5th, 2017 at 11 AM with Pastor Jim Vellenga officiating. Interment Dashwood Lutheran Cemetery.

Peacefully at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital on Friday, April 28, 2017 Ivan Samuel Smith of Alvinston, at the age of 87.  Loving husband of the late Irene Smith (nee Wauthier).  Ivan is survived by his daughter Debra Smith (Scott) of Strathroy and their children Chandler and Donovan.  He is survived by his sister Blossom Smith (Clare, deceased) of Alvinston, brothers and sisters in-law Shirley (Earl) Armstrong of Alvinston, Elizabeth (Leon) Mortier, Jean Harris and Russell Wauthier all of Chatham, Janetta Joyce and Robert Wauthier both of London, and several nieces and nephews.  Pre-deceased by his daughter Rosemary (1986), parents William and Winnifred, sisters Mary (in infancy), Violet McLachlan, Ruby Leitch and his brothers-in-law Gordon Wauthier and George Wauthier. DILLEY: Arthur James of Strathroy

Peacefully at his home on Friday, April 28th, 2017 – Arthur (Art) James Dilley of Strathroy passed away at the age of 87.  Cherished husband and forever love of Linda Dilley (nee Armstrong).  Beloved father of Cara Schnellback, Colleen (Charlie) Kennedy, John Dilley, Justin Dilley, Shannon (Kelly) Kadonaga and the late David Dilley.  Loving granddad of Jason (Cara), Dayna, Julia, Christopher, Michael, Paige, Lindsay and Lucas and great grandfather of Remington; predeceased by his six sisters.

 

Art spent many years as Senior Electrical Engineer at Esso Chemical in Sarnia. Art’s love of aviation and electronics grew out of his service as a young man with the Royal Air Force. A modest man, many are unaware of his earlier accomplishments. After immigrating to Canada he was involved in the development of the Avro Arrow. He also worked on the development of sonar and radar detection devices for the armed forces. At one point, he found himself aboard a warship in the Caribbean during the Cuban missile crisis.

 

Art had many passions and interests. He would often be heard quoting Shakespeare or listening to his classical music collection. An avid tennis player and fan, he rarely missed a televised match.  Art and Linda were longtime members of the London and Sarnia ballroom dancing clubs; achieving their Goldstar Status.

 

Cremation has taken place.  Friends will be received at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY 519-245-1023 on Wednesday, May 3rd from 12:00 pm until the time of the memorial service at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Karen Nelles officiating.  As expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army or the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Foundation.  Online condolences accepted at www.denning.ca

Ferguson; Harvey of Wyoming

John “Harvey” Ferguson passed away peacefully in CEE Hospital, Petrolia, in the early hours of Friday, April 28th, in his 82nd year.

Harvey was the much-loved husband of Julie Kelly for almost 30 years.  He is survived by sisters Inez and Wayne Gare, Helen Pearen, and brother Lloyd and Donna Ferguson and their family.

Harvey is also survived by a special step-daughter, Katharine and Barry Currie, and his dearly loved grandson, Ethan.

Harvey was predeceased by parents John and Ruby (Lampman) Ferguson, brother Eugene, an infant brother, and brother-in-law Verne Pearen.

He was born, raised and spent his years in the Petrolia area residing for many years on LaSalle Line, where he had his cattle farm and drainage contracting business.  Harvey was one of the first drainage contractors in Lambton County, laying hundreds of miles of both agricultural and municipal tile.

Harvey was a longtime, proud member of Burns Lodge, Wyoming, the Lambton Shrine Club, the Mocha Shrine, and was a founding member of Island View Hunt Club, where he went each fall for as long as he was able.

When he wasn’t working, Harvey thoroughly enjoyed his card games with his circle of friends.

He fought long and hard against failing heart and lungs but kept daily activities as he was able.

Visitation is at the Wyoming Chapel, 650 Broadway St., Wyoming on Monday, May 1, 2017 from 6 – 8 pm, with Burns Lodge No. 153 A.F. & A.M conducting a service immediately following at 8pm.  A funeral service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday, May 2nd at 2pm.  Interment in Wyoming Cemetery.

Died peacefully with her parents by her side on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Bluewater Health, Sarnia.  ANGELA MARILYN ILA BARNES, 34 years, was of Brigden.   Angela will lovingly be missed by Parents Ed and Ila Barnes of Croton.   She was a loved niece to James and Valerie Lynne, Ernest and Bonita Lynne, Dorothy and Kari Lylander, Shirley and John Hall Susan and Junior Hamel, Melvin (Ted) and Faye Barnes and the late Richard Barnes.   She will also be missed by many cousins.     Angela was predeceased by her grandparents Gilbert and Marilyn Lynne and Isabelle and Robert Barnes.   Angela was also loved by her friends and caregivers and Lambton County Developmental Services, who deserve great praise for their care and compassion over the years.   Visitors will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm from the Needham-Jay Funeral Home, Petrolia where a funeral service will be held on Monday, May 1, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.   Interment will follow in Oil Springs Cemetery.   As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Lambton County Developmental Services (lcdspetrolia.ca).  Memories and condolences may be shared on-line at www.needhamjay.com.

 Died peacefully with his granddaughter by his side on Monday, April 24, 2017 at Victoria Hospital, London.  JOHN YANKOVICH, 78 years old.  John was predeceased by his loving wife Patricia (nee Yager) (2004).  He will be missed by his granddaughter Emiley “Elizabeth” and her fiancée Nic Ward.  He was the father to Deborah (Karl) Kloos, Tamara (Ian Swanson) Yankovich, Jackie Yankovich & Pamela Yankovich and a grandfather Darren Kloos.  He was great grandfather to Patricia Ethan and Arya.   He will also be missed by his sister Anastia Kainz.  John was retired from Ford Motor Company where he was an electronics engineer.   In his spare time, he enjoyed fulfilling his passion for sailing.  A service celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2017 at 4:00 pm from the Needham-Jay Funeral Home, Petrolia.   As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made the Terry Fox Foundation.  Memories and condolences may be shared on-line at www.needhamjay.com.

Died at St. Josephs Hospice is Sarnia on Sunday, April 23, 2017.  JOHN VandenBROEK, of Petrolia, was in his 88th year.  John was a loving husband for 61 years to Joanna (nee VandeSchoot).   He will be missed by his children Bill (Terry), Frank (Ruth Anne), Mary VandenBroek, Michael (the late Denise), John, Jim, Theresa (Ron) White, Stephen (Kathy), Stuart, and Mark (Dawn).  He was grandfather to twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren.   John was the son of the late Martin and Wilhelmina, and a step-son to Frances. He was the brother of Mary (the late Tony), the late Wilhelmina (the late Tony), Cathy (Andy), the late Harry (Tina), Henk (Ria), Rieka (the late Bill), the late Joe (Kathy), Wilma (the late Ted), Pieta (Herman), Clara (Mark), Nolda (Carl), Marty (Karen), Fran (Barry), Harold (Adrianne), Frank, Rick (Kim), and Chuck (Dee). He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews.  Visitors will be received on Tuesday from 6 to 9 pm at the Needham-Jay Funeral Home, Petrolia where a funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment to follow at a later date at Mt. Peacefully, surrounded with love and family on Friday April 21, 2017 at Bluewater Health, Sarnia, Reo Dick Cieslar passed away at the age of 70.  Beloved partner to Cathy Hull.  Loving father to Melissa and her husband Gerry Wrobel, and Scott Cieslar and his wife Renee McKenzie. Proud grandpa to Emily, Hannah, Lyndsi, Tanner, Owen, Ryan, Gavin and Evan.  Dick will be missed by his siblings Esther Topper, Lil Somers, George and his wife Linda Cieslar and Harry and his wife Judy Cieslar, and Bill and his wife Pat Lozon and many nieces and nephews.  Dick will also be missed by his lifelong best friend Roy and Liz Sager and their family.

 

Cremation has taken place.  A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, June 3, from 4-6pm at Hiawatha horse park in Sarnia.  Anyone wishing to stay for Dick’s favourite activity of racing is welcome to join the family at the races that evening.

It is with heavy hearts we say goodbye to a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend who passed away on April 25, 2017 at 58 years of age. Beloved husband of Lynn (nee Bewick) for 30 years. GREENSIDE, Joan (née Brooks), of St. Thomas, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Thursday, April 27, 2017, in her 86th year.  Wife of Edward F. “Ted” Greenside.  Mother of William “Bill” Vaughan (Rosemary) of London, and Judy Angyal of Grand Bend.  Grandmother of Angela, Pamela, Craig and Melissa.  Sister of David Brooks (Diann) of Oakville.  Also survived by 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Joan was predeceased by her sister, Betty Paul and by her brothers, Bob and Clare Brooks.  Born in London, ON, April 22, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Ona (née Pyman) Brooks.  Joan was a retired clerk at Stedman’s Department Store, Aylmer. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place.  There will be no public visitation or funeral service. Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday April 27, 2017. Predeceased by Philip Dupuis and Judy (Ken Ryall). Survived by his spouse Lorraine (Bouma Nee’ Pierre) and brother Dennis; Leonard will always be remembered by his loving children and step-children; Leonard Jr., Alan (Bonnie), Carol (Mike), Gerald (Vesna), Randy Bouma (Terra), Carol (Rick Murphy), Sandy (Marc Quenneville), Jim Bouma (Janice), Grant Bouma (Debra), Robert Bouma (Michelle), Elizabeth Bechard (Dave Standel), Diane (Joe Leboeuf), Jean Paul Bouma. Over 100 Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren he will be dearly missed and always loved by each and everyone. Leonard will be greatly missed by all his family and many friends. Leonard proudly served in the Royal Canadian Airforce during WWII (1942-1946). Born in Casalvieri, Frosinone, Italy. Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family by his side. Loving and devoted husband of 61 years to Antonietta (Nee Matrundola). Loving father of Diane (Arduino) Colasanti and Mario (Rachelle) Petrilli. Caro Nonno of Linda (Michael) Guadagno, Davide (Dina) Colasanti, Melissa (Ciro) Sperduti, and Erica Petrilli. Caro Bis-nonno Tu Tu to Mila, Tavia, Cinzia, Diano, Della and Sandro. Dear brother of Clara (late Michele) Vennettilli, late Gina (Giuseppe) D’Angela, Emalia (Ulderico) Liegghio. Dear Brother-in-law of Italia (Biagio) Bosco, Ersilia (Angelo) Sirizzotti. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and friends in Windsor, Michigan, Sarnia and Italy. Tullio was retired from GM Transmission and a member of the Ciociaro Club of Windsor. He had a passion & love for his garden and will most of all be remembered for his love for his family, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Joan Marie McRae on April 25, 2017. Joan is reunited with her best friend and love of her life, Bernard McRae. Devoted and cherished mother to Bernard, Constance (Rick) Weldon, Brian (Colleen), Thomas, Karen (Noman) Russette, William (Kelly), Christine (Michael) Barichello. Loving grandma to Scott, Adam, Danielle, Diana, Chantel, Rachelle, Mitchel, Matthew, Olivia, Marcus and Connor-Jacob. Proud GG to Ryker, Britta and soon-to-be baby Maverick. Predeceased by her parents, William and Bula Danaher and her 10 brothers and sisters. Joan will be forever missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends both in Ontario and Michigan, USA. Joan was a devoted mother and grandmother, who will be forever remembered for baking her famous cookies and pies. Passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, April 24, 2017 at the age of 86 years.
Tony will be reunited with his late wife, Zenia (2000) of 46 years.
Dear father of Terry and wife Mary Ann, Brian and wife Shelly, Carla and husband Jeff, and the late Barbara Ann.
Adored grandfather of Derek, Melissa (Kevin), Jason, Caitlyn, Rachael, Zoe, Caiden, and the late Ingrid. Cherished great-grandfather of Caleb. Loving brother to Joe and wife Rosalie. Tony will be missed by his many sister & brother in-laws, nieces, nephews and extended family members. Predeceased by his parents, Joseph (1991) & Barbara (1961) Matz. Cherished friend of Elaine Savoy, her children, Reneé (Mike), Lisa (Larry), and grandchildren, Kaitlyn, and Emily. A special thank you to Nick and Margaret for the help and support over the many years. The family would like to extend a thank you to the nurses and staff at the Berkshire Care Centre.

Loved mother of Anne and the late Bill Schade (2003), Doris and the late Joseph Wragg (1990).
