Elizabeth Coriene Fischer (née Anstett) of R.R. #2 Mildmay, passed away suddenly with family by her side at Brucelea Haven, Walkerton on Thursday, December 29th, 2016 in her 80th year.

Beloved wife of Tom Fischer.

Loving mother of Greg Fischer (Paula) of R. R. #2 Teeswater, Gary Fischer (Joan) of R.R. #4 Walkerton, Shelley Weber (Gerald) of R. R. #2 Mildmay, Sherry Cronin (Paul) of Teeswater, Grant Fischer (Diana) of Toronto and Graham Fischer (Matt Schroeder) of R.R. #2 Mildmay.

Sadly missed by her 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at the Tiffin Funeral Home, Teeswater on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with Knights of Columbus Rosary at 8:30, followed by Vigil Prayers at 8:45. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Formosa on Thursday, January 5th, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Father Michael Anderson officiating.

Dearly loved husband of Anne (nee deJong) for 60 years. Cherished father of Harriet (Bill Potters), Ellen (Ron Lakusiak), Bill (Jacqui), Trish (Dave Petersen), Bob (Anita) and Bert (Liz). Adored Opa of Lindsay (Chris Tansey), Mike, Mark and Meghan Potters; Mike, Chris, Garret, and Trevor Lakusiak; Cole, Lauren and Taylor VandenBygaart; Rush and Annie Petersen; Beck and Nyall VandenBygaart; Hannah, Ava, and Tyler VandenBygaart. Wonderful great-Opa to Hailey and Hannah. Casey is also survived by his sister, Gerry, as well as many nieces and nephews. Casey was born November 20, 1929, in Oisterwijk, the Netherlands and moved to Canada in 1954 with $29.00 in his pocket. Casey was a life-long nature lover, enjoying his 29 year career at Pinery Provincial Park. He loved learning, teaching and talking about birds and trees, but above all, he loved chocolate. Casey spent many years selling fresh eggs and Christmas trees from his home in Grand Bend. SIMON, Mary Jean Shaw (nee Andrew) – Age 93 of London passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at London Health Sciences – Victoria Campus. Born on October 20, 1923 in Sarnia, Ontario. Daughter of her predeceased parents John and Mary Andrews.Predeceased by husband Rudolph Simon.
Survived by daughter Bonnie Darmanin and her husband Lee of Thamesford, Ontario and son Leonard Simon of Windsor, Ontario. Beloved grandmother of Blaine Duffield and wife Kelly. Mary Jean will be missed by great grandchildren Alex (Greg), Jarrod and Sara Duffield and Nichole and Lee Wm. Darmanin and Great great grandchildren Sebastion and Theodore. Sister of Alicea Van Alstein of Florida, and many dear nieces and nephews. Predeceased by siblings Bert (Ione), Albert (Orise), John Orlo, Alvin (Marion), Clifford, Lloyd, George, Walter, Leonard, Vera (Irvin), Elizabeth (Jack), Gladys (John, Wm), Berth (Gerald) and two stillborn sisters. Predeceased by son-in-law Gerald Duffield. Mary Jean was the youngest of 17 children and was fondly known to everyone as “M.J.” She was always young of heart with a zest for life. Mary Jean was a 2x cancer survivor and was loved and pampered by all of her nurses. She was a resident of Dearness Home in London, Ontario for 18 plus years. Mary Jean enjoyed working as a waitress, hospital dietician and P.S.W and was a lifelong member of the “Community of Christ” (RLDS). The Family of Mary Jean would like to thank all the staff at Dearness and Dr. McKeough- you are the best! Also a big thank you to Victoria Hospital 7A and her team Blue Doctors and to the Steadman Brothers Funeral Home for all their help and kindness to our family.

Jonkman, Harry (Harm) – May 29th, 1922 – December 24th 2016 – Harry Jonkman, the original owner/Dad of “Mom & Dad’s Bakery” on Little Avenue of Barrie, was born in Meppel, Holland to Jan & Pieteke Jonkman (predeceased) and is predeceased by his sister Roelie VanSprang, (Jonkman).  He passed away in his home in Midhurst with family by his side following a lengthy hospital visit at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie.  He was beyond deserving of the most amazing Christmas gift received, which was going home to be with the Lord, to be reunited with his beautiful wife Elly Jonkman and his much loved daughter Cindy Warnar (Henk).  He is survived by his son, John Jonkman (Viona) and his two daughters, Patricia Anderson (Scott) and Marian Sweetland (Byron). He will be fondly remembered by eleven grandchildren:  Greg, Kari, Brad, Mark, Hendrik, Paul, Philip, Roxanne, Santana, Jesse and Skylar and eleven great-grandchildren:  Dylan, Brooke, Riley, Kassidy, Madison, Colby, Drake, Madeleine, Brook, Emma and Samantha.  A long time church member of Hi-Way Pentecostal Church in Barrie since 1966, Dad’s faith was apparent in all that he did and to all who knew him.  His 69 years of marriage to Elly was a true example of love and devotion.  Friends will be received at Hi-Way Church, 50 Anne St., N., Barrie on Thursday January 5th, 2017 at 12:30 PM for visitation until 2:00 PM at which time Dad’s celebration of life shall begin.  As an expression of sympathy, Dad loved supporting the children with World Vision, Canada and would love others to do the same.  We will forever be grateful for his example, his heritage and legacy.  Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family by visiting the website:  www.drivercremation.ca

Cherished great grandmother of Ethan, Cate, Gracie, Ben, Thomas, Khloe, Matthew, Evie and Audrey. Jean is pre-deceased by her siblings Douglas, Lewis, Allan, Stephen, Donald and Margaret Robinson. At Victoria Hospital in London, on Wednesday, December 28, 2016.  Corey Edward Collins passed away at the age of 33 years.  Corey was born in London, Ontario, on December 19, 1983.  Beloved son of Ted and Linda Collins of Plympton-Wyoming.  Cherished brother of Tamara of Sarnia, Jillian (Tomasz) of Thamesford, and his loving grandma, Gladys East of Clinton.  Predeceased by his grandparents, Murray East and Myrtle and Earl Collins.  Corey will be missed by his aunts, uncles, cousins, and his many friends he has made throughout the years.  A private family service to honor Corey will be held at DENNINGS OF FOREST, on Monday, January 2, 2017.   Expressions of sympathy may be made through donations to the Inn of the Good Shepherd or Salvation Army.  Funeral arrangements entrusted to DENNINGS OF FOREST.  Condolences may be left at www.denning.ca

Jonkman, Harry (Harm) – May 29th, 1922 – December 24th 2016 Harry Jonkman, the original owner/Dad of “Mom & Dad’s Bakery” on Little Avenue of Barrie, was born in Meppel, Holland to Jan & Pieteke Jonkman (predeceased) and is predeceased by his sister Roelie VanSprang, (Jonkman).  He passed away in his home in Midhurst with family by his side following a lengthy hospital visit at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie.  He was beyond deserving of the most amazing Christmas gift received, which was going home to be with the Lord, to be reunited with his beautiful wife Elly Jonkman and his much loved daughter Cindy Warnar (Henk).  He is survived by his son, John Jonkman (Viona) and his two daughters, Patricia Anderson (Scott) and Marian Sweetland (Byron). He will be fondly remembered by eleven grandchildren:  Greg, Kari, Brad, Mark, Hendrik, Paul, Philip, Roxanne, Santana, Jesse and Skylar and eleven great-grandchildren:  Dylan, Brooke, Riley, Kassidy, Madison, Colby, Drake, Madeleine, Brook, Emma and Samantha.  A long time church member of Hi-Way Pentecostal Church in Barrie since 1966, Dad’s faith was apparent in all that he did and to all who knew him.  His 69 years of marriage to Elly was a true example of love and devotion.  Friends will be received at Hi-Way Church, 50 Anne St., N., Barrie on Thursday January 5th, 2017 at 12:30 PM for visitation until 2:00 PM at which time Dad’s celebration of life shall begin.  As an expression of sympathy, Dad loved supporting the children with World Vision, Canada and would love others to do the same.  We will forever be grateful for his example, his heritage and legacy.  Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family by visiting the website:  www.drivercremation.ca

KEMP, Lloyd Benson – Of Belleville, in his 92nd year, entered into rest on Tuesday morning December 27th, 2016 with his family at his side. Son of the late Hilda Keenan (nee Arkless) and step son of the late Tom Keenan. Beloved companion of Doreen Butler (nee McCaw) for over 35 years. Loving father of Nancy and Gordon (Tammy) and dear step-father of James “Jim” Butler (Lisa Charlton), Penny Dustin, Susan (Ken) Insley, Jackie (Bill) Blakely, Norma Benoit and Peggy Butler (Jim Harvey). Lloyd will be missed by his grandchildren and step grandchildren, great grandchild and step great grandchildren. Predeceased by step grandson Tom. Dear brother of the late Morris (surviving wife Ruby) and the late Ivy. Lloyd worked at General Motors in Oshawa for 30 years, retiring in 1982. He was also a life member of the Trillium 2000 Club, Parkdale Euchre Club and a loyal, dedicated fan of the Detroit Redwings/Tigers.

A graveside service will be held at Mount Lawn Memorial Gardens, 21 Garrard Road, Whitby on Friday December 30th, 2016 at 2:00p.m.

BENTLEY, Wayne Norman – Of Kingston, entered into rest at the Kingston General Hospital on Tuesday December 20th, 2016 at the age of 67. Dear son of the late Norman & Wanda Bentley. Cherished brother of Virginia Williams (late husband David) of Kingston. Dear uncle to Parker Williams (Shay) of Markham, Tyler Williams (Ann) of Edmonton and great uncle to Bennett and Cora Williams.

Funeral Service will be held at Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West, Belleville (613-968-2273) on Wednesday January 4th, at 1:30 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to service (12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.). Interment to follow at Belleville Cemetery.

Carr-Braint, Kenneth Howard “Coach” – at home, with his wife at his side, on Sunday, December 25th, 2016 in his 89th year.  Son of the late Harry and Mary Carr-Braint. Dearly loved Sweetheart and Husband of Edith Carr-Braint of Belleville.  Loving father of Bonnie (Ross) Kerwin, Larry (Margaret), Joel (Marjorie) all of Belleville, Scott of Kingston and the late David Carr-Braint.  Much loved step-father of Connie (Mark) Gallupe, Sylvia (Alan) Brockwell and Peter (Joanne) Petrick.  Ken will be missed by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He is also survived by his sister, Janice (John) Paton and predeceased by his brother, Don and his sisters, Ann, Kay and Joyce.  He will be remembered by several nieces and nephews.  Ken was a General Contractor and Master Builder in the Belleville area and an Olympian in his chosen sport of Weightlifting.

The family will receive friends at the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West (613-968-2273) on Monday, January 2nd from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The Memorial Service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.  Private Interment at Elmwood Cemetery.

SEWELL, Joseph Henry – At Bluewater Health on Friday, December 23, 2016 with his children by his side, Joseph died at the age of 86. Beloved husband of 60 years of the late Vera (2011). Loving father of Joseph (Dawn) Sewell, Angela (Mike) Clayton, Karen Sewell and Gail (Jeff) Forget. Proud grandpa of Tammy Lynn, Sean, Carl, Christopher, Melanie, Rodney, Ryan, Danielle, Logan, Andre and Devin; and great-grandfather of Jordan, Misty, Ally, Auston, Kayla, Reigen, Aiden, Emma, Zoe and Ethan and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Brother of Myrtle Vint, Violet (Jim) Mcclenaghan, Albert (Pat) Sewell, Hazel (Roy) Leckey, Maria (Dennis) Watson, Bobby (Elsa) Sewell and Maureen (Frank) Leitch. Predeceased by brothers Geordie, William and James. Joe retired from Ontario Hydro in 1993. This allowed him more time to enjoy his passion for antiques and collectables.
