Loved and missed by her husband of 52 years, Gordon Samson. Also missed by her sons Derrick (Jessie) of Bolton and Trevor (Tammy Clark) of Brantford. Dear grandma of Holly, Tyler and Chantel Samson. Peacefully, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Bluewater Health, Larry Douglas “Ty” Smith passed away at the age of 63. Beloved fiancé of Cathy Champagne. Loving father of Michael Douglas Smith of Toronto. Cherished son of Betty Anne Fraser Tyrie (Douglas R. Tyrie) and the late Harold Douglas Smith. Dear brother of Alan Tyrie of Moose Jaw, Debraha Metcalf of Vancouver, and the late Harold Smith Jr. Special nephew of Sharon Case of Brights Grove, and Jack and Shirley Fraser of Brigden. Survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his grandparents R.W. Fraser. Ty was a longtime member of the London Carpenter’s Union Local 1946. He loved riding his Harley, his home in Oil Springs, and his truck. Ty will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 4, 2016 at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia. It is with saddened hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Yuriy Kordonskyy at Bluewater Health-Sarnia, on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, surrounded by friends and family after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was 2 days shy of his sixty-ninth birthday. Yuri is survived by his loving wife Svitlana, daughters Nataliya and Mariya, son-in-law Johnny and grandson Jacob as well as his sister Natasha and her family. Yuri was born on March 31, 1947, in a remote area of Russia, but family soon relocated to Kiev, Ukraine. In 1968, Yuri married his best friend and the love of his life Svitlana. Together they built a happy home full of love, laughter, and adventure. His career as an oil and gas engineer took him internationally and in December 2001 the family immigrated to Canada. Yuri fell in love with this beautiful and generous country and truly considered Canada his home and native land. Yuri’s unparalleled work ethics and genuine passion for his job marked his 14 year’s career in Colt Engineering (Worley Parsons) where he successfully implemented many complex projects, until it was interrupted by a disease. Yuri will be deeply missed by his beloved family and friends, and his sense of humour will allow us to cherish many happy and fun memories with him. Cremation has taken place. Loving father of Nataschja Storozuk & her husband Kevin, Sarnia and Ingmar Strybosch, Calgary. Cherished Opa of Jordan Storozuk (Joel Rocque), Ottawa and Andie Storozuk (Mitch Hansen), Ottawa. Dear brother of Henk Strijbosch (Winny), and their children Mirjam Strijbosch (John) and Hans Strijbosch (Agatha) and great niece Jennifer Molenaar (Boaz). Also survived by special friend Irma Klaassen. Predeceased by his parents. Hans was a graduate of Kings College, London. He loved helping people which led to his career as a Social Worker at London Psychiatric Hospital for over 20 years. Hans was instrumental in founding the London Aids Society. He had a wonderful sense of humour, an incredible zest for life, enjoyed travelling and spending quality time with his family. Hans has been battling dementia and Alzheimer’s for the last several years, but through it all kept his sunny outlook which was best summed up in his favorite toast “To Better Days”…..Cremation has taken place and private arrangements have been made. She was the wife of the late Frank Sallai (2003). Irene is being fondly remembered by her only child Georgina Davidson (Drew) and her granddaughters Sara Lam (Francis) and Andrea Davidson. She will be sadly missed by her beloved cat Smokey. Predeceased by 3 brothers, Julius Kovacs, Louis Kovacs and John Ondrasek. Irene was the very proud owner of Irene’s Bridal, first on Ottawa St. and then on Tecumseh Rd. She was also an awesome seamstress! At Irene’s request, a private family remembrance is being observed. web_sharron_paulOn March 28, 2016 Paul Sharron peacefully passed away with dignity at a vibrant 91 years of age.  Reunited with his beloved wife Mickey, oldest son Greg, youngest daughter Kim, son-in-law Ralph Farrugia and daughter-in-law Kim Sharron. Loving grandfather of Brian (Jen) Renaud, Christine (John) Sapardanis, Randy (Alba) Renaud, Kevin Eden, Jennifer Eden (Paul Lucas), and great-grandfather of Kayla, Tanya & Jacob Sapardanis, Brandon & Christian Renaud and Ryanne Lucas. Predeceased by his parents John George & Martha Eden, and siblings Everette, Charlie, Bill, Garnet, Jack, Carl and Norma. Clem retired from Ford Motor Company after 41 years of dedicated service. He loved camping with Uncle Gordie, Aunt Jean, Aunt Phyllis and Uncle Nelson, fishing, gardening and the great outdoors. He will be remembered as a dedicated husband, family man and a real good dad, always friendly, neighbourly and a Jack of all trades. Loving father to David (Rosa) Masse, Krystina (Cliff) Rutledge and Katherine (Bill) Mackenzie. Adored Pipi to Marco and Christian Masse, Adam Rutledge, Kaitlyn and Sabrina Mackenzie. Dear son of the late Theodore and Mary Masse. Cherished brother of Connie (Jack) Chambers, Vicki (Ron) Moulden, Debra (David) Kostanjevec and Richard (Sheree) Masse. He will be greatly missed by his brother and sister-in-laws, many nephews, nieces and cousins. Dave was a hardworking diesel mechanic, welder, word worker and bodyman for many years. He was a union stewart of Teamster 938 for many years and always fought for justice and fairness for his co-workers. Dave loved the outdoors especially: camping, fishing, hunting, 4-wheel driving and snowmobiling. He had the biggest heart and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, whether he knew them or not. Dave will greatly be missed by so many and this world will not be the same without him.

God saw him getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So, He put His arms around him and whispered “Come to me”. Although we loved him dearly we could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating and hard-working hands put to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us that He only takes the best.

He was the beloved husband of the late Lillian Raymond; the son of the late Walter Jewer and of the late Marybelle McIsaac; the loving father of Lynn (Steve Boileau), Roderick (Diane Corriveau), Rae, Lorraine (John Owen), Maureen (Don Casedy), Alan (Linda O’Toole) and Kathleen (Daniel Guay); the adored grandfather of many grandchildren and great grandchildren; the dear brother of Rose, Jean, Kay, Francis and Wilfrid (Janet). He was predeceased by three sons: Frederick, Kevin and Christopher ”Kit”.

Valentine, John (Jack) Douglas died suddenly, yet peacefully on Wednesday March 30, 2016 at the General & Marine Hospital, Collingwood in his 72nd year.  Jack of Wasaga Beach, formerly of Mississauga, beloved husband of Sandra.  Loving father of Tracey (Chris Campbell), Kim and Alison (Chris Ross).  Cherished grandfather of Hayley, Tyler, Jenna, Jackson and Brody. Caring Uncle & Unckie to many.  Jack is survived by his brother Lawrence Valentine (Cheryl) & Sister-in-Law Paula Valentine. Jack will also be missed by his Probus colleagues and his many friends.  He was a quiet man with a wonderful sense of humour.  He was devoted to his family, to his beloved Montreal Canadiens and was passionate about all things baseball.  He was a lifelong player, umpire, coach and fan.  He will be missed.  Friends will be received at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Wasaga Beach Chapel on Friday April 15, 2016 from 12 Noon for the Memorial Service in the Chapel at 1 o’clock. Jane (Gillespie) died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday March 24, 2016.  Her husband Jack died in 2007.  Her sons Angus (Sandy) and Tam (Jan) and grandchildren Alec, Christopher, Geoffrey and Alison are happy to know that Jane and Jack are reunited again paddling their canoe with Jane no doubt steering from her seat in the bow.

Jane and Jack grew up together in Peterborough, Ontario. They were high school sweethearts at PCVS and spent 56 happy years together. Jack and Jane were an inseparable team who provided care and guidance to the students of Lakefield College School and Lester B. Pearson College of the Pacific in Victoria from 1954 to 1983.  Jane was incredibly kind and helpful to students, faculty and staff, regularly opening her home for dinner, receptions and her strawberry shortcake.  In their senior years, Jane continued to shape many of Jack’s ideas for the Trent University International Program and the Canadian Canoe Museum. Jane was a keen member of the Lakefield Architectural Conservation Authority Committee. Summers with family at Stony Lake sailing, canoeing and touring in the Dispro were especially happy times.

A private family celebration of life with be held in August at Stony Lake. Donations in memory of Jane may be made to the Jack and Jane Matthews Endowment c/o Trent University (trentu.ca) that supports a lecture series shared by Trent, Lakefield College School and the Canadian Canoe Museum.

IMG_1116Peacefully at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by family and close friends; Patricia “Pat” Levitt (Henderson) of Strathroy passed on Wednesday, March 30th, 2016 in her 56th year. Beloved wife of George Levitt for 33 years. Loving mother of Jenny (Kevin) Sousa, Gregory Levitt and Debra Levitt (Darryl). Cherished Mimi of Reece and Remy. Daughter of the late Glenn Henderson (2005) and Audrey Henderson of Strathroy. Dear sister of Jim (Apolonia) Henderson, Linda (Patrick) Lewis and her twin Pam (Kevin) Mitchell. Also survived by Aunt Connie (Ken) Fenney. Will be missed by her many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends Sue and Diane.

Predeceased by her mother-in-law Margaret (1997) and father-in-law Jim (2000).

Friends will be received at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY on Sunday, April 3rd, 2016 from 12 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at a later date. Davis GeorannSuddenly at the Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg on Wednesday, March 30th, 2016, Georgann Davis (nee Lounsbury) at 82 years of age. Beloved wife of Raymond Davis. Loving mother of Patricia Jones (Dave), Ross Davis, Warren Moore, and the late Trina. Cherished grandmother of Julie and Stephen. Dear sister of June VanHooydunk (Casey) and Gary Lounsbury (Patricia). Also missed by her nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Rindlisbacherpassed away peacefully at the age of 88. Predeceased by his parents Arnold and Rose, brothers Arnold and Donald, and sister, Pauline. Loving husband of Eleanor (nee Nussio) and adoring father of Peter (Ellen), Paul (Lois) Mary (and Fattollah Nejat-Bakhsh), Tom (Lisa), Tim and Julie (and Geoff Butler). Proudest grandfather of 15 grandchildren. Owner of Windsor Print & Litho for 49 years. Coach of minor hockey for a decade. Served on St. Clair Beach council for seven years. He was an innovator and environmentalist before his time, with remarkable drive and resilience. Harold had an enormous, kind and generous heart, amazing work ethic and indomitable spirit. He leaves an impressive legacy of love, and will be dearly missed. Donations may be made to The Heart and Stoke Foundation. Proud grandmother to 23 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and 9 ¾ great great grandchildren. Florence is predeceased by 5 sisters and 4 brothers. Passed away peacefullyFilipowitz on March 29th, 2016 surrounded by his family at Hospice of Windsor in his 80th year. Loving husband to Violet (nee Pettinato) for 55 years. Beloved dad to Manfred (Diana), Ron (Elaine), Kathy (Paul) Mazak, and Steve (Patricia). Cherished grandpa to Krista, Daniel, Brian, Madeline, Sarah, Nathalie, Shawn, Andrew, Jenna, and Adrian. Dearest brother to Ulrich (Mireille) of Switzerland and Helmut (Karin) of Germany. Will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Gustav and Charlotta of Germany. Today our world stoManchurekod still as we said goodbye to our beautiful mother and we gently passed her into the arms of our Lord in her 88th year. Viola will be dearly missed by husband Mike; her four children Michael Manchurek (Linda), Jean Fields (Barry), Mary Wiseman and Donna Manchurek; her four grandchildren Kristina Wiseman, Dan Manchurek (Trish), Daryl Manchurek (Karen) and Jenny Winter (Hank); and her four great grandchildren Katelyn, Baylie, Rhiannon and Kody. She will also be sadly missed by her sister Marjorie Morgan and many nieces and nephews. Viola is predeceased by her mother and father Ellen and Samuel Bardwell; brothers Jimmy and Eugene, and sisters Ethel, Thelma, Fern and Evelyn. Viola’s children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her life. She brought joy, love and tenderness to each and every one of them. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and residents of Riverside Place. Throughout Viola’s six years of living at Riverside Place she made many special friends and experienced a quality of life that our family will always be thankful for.
