lois herrington 002HERRINGTON, Lois, of Sparta, passed away at her residence on Thursday, October 29, 2015, in her 68th year. Dear sister of Victor Herrington of Sparta. Lois is also remembered by several cousins and friends. Born in St. Thomas, ON, February 15, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Dorothy (nee Sutton) Herrington. Lois formerly worked on the Schneider farm, south of Sparta, and at Essex Wire, St. Thomas. She was a member of the former Sparta United Church. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no public visitation or funeral service. Private interment of her cremated remains will be made in Sparta Cemetery. Memorial donations to the charity of one’s choice will be gratefully acknowledged. Arrangements entrusted to the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519) 631-1160.

Nickels: Wilfred “Roy” formerly of R.R.#3 Bothwell was called home to be with his Lord and Saviour surrounded by his family on Friday, October 30, 2015 at the age of 92. Siebe was born on March 26, 1927 in Lemmer, Friesland, Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1955 with his wife and two sons. Loved and missed by his wife Elisabeth (nee Speelman), and by his children Bob (Dorothy), Sim (Joanna), Anita Locke (Dail Young) and Brenda Ibey (Clayton). Loving grandfather of Jason, Sara, Naomi, Lindsey, Jessica, Alex, Eric, Nick and great grandfather of Talan, Aiden, Brycen, Norah, Ada, Nathan, Mackenzie and Rebekah. Survived by his brother Hendrik (Sylvia) and sisters Nellie (Bernard Kloosterman), Mien (Folkert Harlaar), Peta Frantsz-Wierdsma, Atje (Eddie Van Zeben) and sisters-in-law Ali and Maartje “Mary” Wierdsma. Predeceased by his parents Bouwe Wierdsma and Attje (Sybesma), brothers Gerrit (Dicky), Andries “Andy”, Bouwe (Pia), Brand and sisters Geertje and Liesbeth. Peacefully, surrounded by loving family in his 82nd year. Cherished husband of Gloria Simas for 59 years. Dear father of Lucy (Emanuel) Pires, Luis (Laura) Simas and Carlos (Melissa) Simas. Loving Avô of Stephanie (John) Furtado, Kyle Simas, Matthew Simas, Emillie Simas and Matthew O’Neil, and Visavo of Zelia Furtado and Trinity Simas. He is survived by sister Irene Melo and brother Francisco Avila of Portugal. He will be missed by his sisters and brothers-in-law and many nieces, nephews, family and friends in both Portugal and Canada. Manuel was born in Azores Pico, Portugal and moved to Kitimat, British Columbia in 1971, his main focus being to create a better life for his family. He was passionate about wood working and will be fondly remembered as a man who loved his family. After a short, valiant fight with cancer we announce with great sadness the peaceful passing at home of Thomas W. Brooks (1934 – 2015) on Saturday, October 24, 2015.

Tom was the loving husband of Ann Marie (Bedore) and much loved father of Conrad, his wife Pauline of Australia.

He was predeceased by parents George and Daisy – siblings; Sylvia, Harry, Victor, Winnifred, Stanley and Robert. Survived by Sid (Joyce), Evelyn (Mike), Jean (Jack), Jim (Eleanor), Brenda (Frank), and Ken. Many nieces and nephews.

He was employed by Bethlehem Steel Co. In Marmora, Ontario, decided to return to University in 1970.

Tom graduated Cum Laude in 1974 from University of Western Ontario, with a degree in Physical Therapy. He and his family then moved to Bracebridge in 1978 when he became the head of the Physio Department at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital.

A long time member of Masonic Lodge 360 Bracebridge, Scottish Rite Barrie and Rameses Temple Toronto, and Past President of the Muskoka Shrine Club.

No job was ever too big for Tom when it came to helping the kids at Shriners.

A Masonic Service will be held on November 7, 2015 at South Muskoka Curling and Golf Club, 10 Golf Course Rd beginning at 2pm, followed by a Celebration of Life. Reception to follow.

Dale WebWith sadness in their hearts the family would like to announce the passing of JUNE PATRICIA MARION DALE (nee James), age 84 of Sarnia, on Wednesday October 28, 2015. She was the loving wife of Bernard James Dale of 56 years.  Dear mother of Andrew Dale and his wife Sue, Catherine Dale, David Dale and his wife Gayle, also loved and survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sister of Angela Jarret, She was predeceased by brothers Phillip and Sandy. June was born in Scotland and was a retired Speech Pathologist with the Lambton/Kent District School Board.  She loved swimming and playing badminton and tennis, she was very proud that she swam the St. Clair River in a competition. June’s wishes were for a private family cremation arrangements to take place. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts made to the Canadian Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family.  A tree will be planted at the Wawanosh Wetlands in her memory   Arrangements have been entrusted to the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre.

IRVING, Heather Lynne (Kennedy) – 1947-2015.  Passed away peacefully in­­ her Barrie home, with her family by her side on Wednesday, October 28th 2015 at the age of 68.  Heather was the beloved wife of John Irving, and loving mother of Stacey (Doug), Julie (Thomas), John-Michael (Jenna) and Jacqueline (Matt).  She adored her grandchildren Kennedy and Morgan.  She will be missed by many, but especially her younger brother Douglas Kennedy, his wife Vanessa and children Robert, Christine and Stephanie.

Ever the fighter, she fought Multiple Myeloma for 15 years with the support of the wonderful doctors, nurses, clinical trial coordinators and other health care personnel at both Princess Margaret Hospital and RVH.  She chose to live each day with a passion for life and a courage for living.

A Requiem Mass will be held for family and friends on Wednesday, November 4th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 65 Amelia St, Barrie from 10-11 am, followed by a Celebration of Life from 11am – 1pm also at St. Mary’s.

Karen Jeanne Shackleton (nee Leinster) slipped away from us, back into the arms of her true love, John S. Shackleton (2001), on Tuesday, October 27, 2015. Remembering her always with love and laughter, she was the cherished Mom of Andrew and Johanna (Greene), Belinda and Cliff Hazlewood, Wendy, Angela and Dino (Gagliardi). Adored Grandma of Maddison, Chelsey and Jacob; Miranda, Desirae, Ashley and Kyle; Nelson and Haylee; Ethan, Dawson, Erin, Lenny and Victoria; and her Great Grandbabies Liam, Emily and Ellianna. Predeceased by her parents William and Jeanne Leinster (England), and her sisters Jewel (Australia) and Genevieve (Norway). Karen was a classically trained pianist whose life was filled with music. A member and Director of Sweet Adelines for over 45 years, she will be greatly missed and most fondly remembered by so many women whose lives she touched with her love and devoted skill in music. Karen and John shared in their love of four part harmony and its wonderful family of singers worldwide.

Cremation has taken place. On Tuesday, October 27, 2015, James Joseph Charron passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 90. Beloved husband of the late Kathy Charron. Loving father of Janet Charron. Dear brother of Irene Smith and her husband Don, Marie Rose Demers and her husband Don, and Diane Sacher. Brother-in-law of Joan Charron and Shirley Charron. Cherished companion of Susan Chong. Predeceased by his siblings Fern Charron, Wilf Charron, Yvon Charron and Colette Raymond. In 1942, Jim volunteered to serve in WWII with the Lincoln Welland Regiment and was wounded in Holland in 1944. He will be deeply missed by many friends, nieces, nephews and extended family overseas. Suddenly on Wednesday October 28, 2015 WILLIAM (BILL) KIMBALL passed away at the age of 87.  Beloved husband of the late Jackie (Welsh) Kimball (2005).  Loving father of Lesley Kimball-Stephenson and her husband Jeff (London) and Jim Kimball (Sarnia).  Cherished grandfather of Vicky and Sarah Stephenson.  Brother-in-law of Gary and Gail Welsh (Sarnia).  Predeceased by his parents William and Tressa Kimball, sisters Vi Chapman (Ted), Kay McPhail (Gord), Marion Pusey (Bert) and Noreen Marlatt-Grauman (Mike)(Chuck).  Also survived by several nieces and nephews.  Bill was the co-owner of Tme-Delta for over 40 years.  Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the D. J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTRE on Saturday October 31st at 2:30 p.m.  Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from the hours of 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Donations to the Lambton Lung Association, Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice.

Kribs, Donald

Peacefully, on Oct 26, 2015, at the age of 54, Donald Webster Kribs (Don) succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his loving parents, Walter Unsworth Kribs (1915- 2003) and Dorothy Joan Kribs (1922-2001) and is survived by his brother John Kribs, half brother late Tom, husband to Janet Kribs. Survived by four nieces and one nephew. Don faced many difficulties in his life, and although he was born and raised in Windsor, he spent many years living in Florida and had wonderful memories of those days. Many thanks to the nursing staff at Hotel Dieu Grace Palliative care unit on CC8 who gave him such great care in his final weeks, and to Twila and Shari, who did all that they could to make his final weeks more bearable. If you so desire, memorial donations to the Downtown Mission would be appreciated by the family. A Graveside service will be held at Victoria Memorial Gardens at a later date. Surrounded by her loving family on October 28, 2015. Cherished wife of the late John Roach. Dear mother of Harold and Judy Marentette. Loving grandma of Greg (Rachelle) Marentette and Jamie (Kelly) Marentette, and great-grandma of Olivia, Emma, Logan, Mikayla and Bree. JAQUES, Lyle Franklin – Age 77, of Oil Springs, passed away peacefully at Bluewater Health – C.E.E. Site, Petrolia on Wednesday, October 28, 2015. Beloved husband of Beth (nee Japp) Jaques for 55 years. Loving father of Shelli (Jim) Verbeek of Pain Court and Daryl (Teresa) Jaques of Petrolia. Dear grandfather of Brent (Eva) Baker, Meghan (Dean) Schives, Jeremy Baker, Amberly Jaques (Dillion) and Brandon Jaques. Survived by his sister-in-law Muriel Jaques and brother-in-law William Bryan. Predeceased by his parents Ed and Lena (nee Eagleson) Jaques, brothers Gerald Jaques and Russell (Dolores) Jaques, sisters Eleanor Bryan and Connie Johnson.
