HatzenbuhlerwebHATZENBUHLER, Nikodemus “Nick” – Passed away with his family by his side at University Hospital, London on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at the age of 82.  Beloved husband of Erna Hatzenbuhler (nee Haase).  Loving father of Eric Hatzenbuhler (Crystal), Rita Butler (Kelly), Elizabeth Campos (Larry Maheux) and Edward Hatzenbuhler (Laura).  Loving Opa of Alex, Victoria, Kendra, Jessica (Steve), Brittany (Jason), Cory, Nicholas (Christina), Mitchell, Stewart and Joshua.  Great Opa of Lucas, Anika and Aliyah.  Fondly remembered by his nephew Val Beilar (Janice).  Predeceased by his parents Nikodemus and Franziska (Himmelspach) Hatzenbuhler as well as his sister and brother-in-law Elizabeth and Paul Beilar.  Nick was a member of the German-Canadian Club of Woodstock for many years.  He had many passions, but he especially loved soccer, music and dancing, and was an avid fisherman in his younger days.  The family will receive friends at the SMITH-LeROY FUNERAL HOME, 69 Wellington St. N., Woodstock on Sunday, May 3 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.  Parish Prayers will be said at 4 pm.  A complete Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, May 4, 2015, 11 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, 1420 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock with Fr. Switzer Helen (nee Landra) Sept 2 1924 – April 28 2015 Passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side at Grove Park Home. Helen was the beloved wife of Bill for 69 years and the loving Mother of David (Marion) Tom ( Barb) Carolyn , Nancy (Mike) Stephen ( Chris) John (Lise) , Michael (Kathy) . She was the very proud Grandma of 19 grandchildren and Great-Grandma to 17.5 great grandchildren. Helen was a lifelong active volunteer with many organizations.

Beloved husband and best friend of Marni (Stilson) Rogers for over 55 years. Loving Dad of Jim (Kathy) Rogers, John (Janet) Rogers and Mary (Steve) Biro all of London. John Milton “Jack” Gray passed away at The Village Senior’s Community in Hanover on April 29th, 2015 from Alzheimer’s disease.  Jack was born on September 25, 1922 in Kenilworth and lived his married life in Durham.  He leaves behind his much loved wife Yvonne who loved him more than words can say.  He loved and was loved by his three children, Marilyn (Brian) Ross, Bob (Deb Schmidt) Gray and Paul (Nancy Sorbie) Gray.  Fondly remembered by his seven grandchildren, Andrea (Bryan) Rowe, Amy (Drew) De Veas, Joanna (Jamie) Rushton, Andrew (Juliette) Gray, Matthew Gray, Dan (Amanda) Gray and Laura (Evan) Low, and his five great-grandchildren, Steven Rowe, David Rowe, Samuel Rushton, Chloe Low and Paige Gray.  He is also survived by his sisters, Ruth Orchard, Marjorie Crane, Marlene Pryde, Shirley Seiler and predeceased by his sister Jean Weber and his parents Arthur and Mae Lou Gray.  Also sadly missed by his sisters-in-law Arlene (Sam) Inglis, Marilyn (Tom Roscoe) Preston and his brother-in-law Aubrey Brown and their families.  Jack ran a successful grocery business in Durham and retired in 1971.  Jack never really retired.  He was always a helping hand in both Durham and the retirement community in Florida. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of a dear son, brother and uncle. Don passed suddenly at his home in his 45th year. He is survived by his ever-loving parents Albert and Teena [Bosma] Vanderploeg of Payne Mills. He is deeply loved and remembered by his three siblings, Cheryl [Gerben] Vanderveen, James [Mistie] Vanderploeg all of Dutton and Marilyn [Peter] Carr of Shedden, and a number of nieces and nephews. Don was born on March 28, 1971 in Richmond B.C. He came to Dutton, ON with his family when he was two . He graduated from West Elgin Secondary School and went on to graduate from Mohawk College, Hamilton, with a Diploma in Business. Don worked for PowerVac for a few years before the call of farming drew him back to Dutton. Though his life journey took him many places, Don’s heart never left the farm. He worked as a Sales Representative for Pioneer Seeds while he joined the operations of Vanderploeg Farms. He loved the outdoors and nature, and he went on many canoeing and snowmobile expeditions with his brother and friends. He will be deeply missed and will live on in our hearts forever. In the sure promise and assurance that he was not his own but belonged body and soul, in life and in death, to his faithful Saviour Jesus Christ, Ted John Deelstra of St. Clair Township died on Wednesday, April 29 at St. Joseph’s Hospice in Sarnia, Ontario. Ted was 54 years old, husband to Mettha (nee Klunder) and father to Cheryl and Aaron Thompson, Tom and Melissa Deelstra, Amanda and Jamie Bydeley, Mike Deelstra and Samantha Deelstra. He was a loving Pake to Phoebe, Vivian and Juliet Thompson, Hannah and Breanne Deelstra, and Jaxen and Lyla Bydeley. Ted was the son of John and Pauline Deelstra and brother to Clarence and Lois Deelstra, Herb and Catherine Deelstra, Sonja and Pete Vanderheide and Chris and Lisa Deelstra.  He was a son-in-law of Georgina and Wytze DeRoos and brother-in-law to Alice and Sid Nutma. He will be missed by many extended family members. Ted was predeceased by his infant daughter Crystal, his father John and his mother-in-law Georgina DeRoos. Ted was a proud farmer, a promoter of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, and an active member of Living Hope Christian Reformed Church. Ted enjoyed road trips, good food, farm shows and time spent together with his family and friends. Peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at London Health Sciences Centre, Marion Keith Young passed away at the age of 82.  Beloved wife of the late Dan Young (2013) and loving mother of JohnYoung (Cathy).  Survived by siblings David West (Sharon), Anne Pennock (Paul), and Paul West (Heather).  Also survived by sisters-in-law Myrtle Young and Joyce Young (Bob). Predeceased by her cherished granddaughter, Hannah (2005); her parents, James and Marion West; brothers-in-law, Robert, Angus and Douglas Young, Del Weatherstone, and sister-in-law, Jean Weatherstone. Keith was born in Hillsdale, Ontario.  Her father was a Presbyterian minister and their family moved to several areas of Ontario during his ministry.  Throughout her life, she enjoyed time spent at the West family cottage at Bruce Beach near Kincardine. A graduate of the University of Western Ontario, she was an elementary school teacher-librarian.  Keith and Dan lived and farmed in Sarnia Township on the farm that has been in Dan’s family since 1855. Keith and Dan enjoyed travel to many parts of Canada and the US, the Holy Land, Southeast Asia, China, Bermuda, Europe and the UK. She was a member of the Mandaumin United Church and the United Church Women. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia. Buchanan, JimmieBUCHANAN, William James – of Listowel, formerly of Atwood, passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Tuesday April 28, 2015, three days before his 94th birthday. Jimmie was a member of the former Donegal United Church and a former member of the Canadian Order of Forresters and the Donegal Chapter of the Loyal Orange Lodge.
Beloved husband of the late Eva (Stone) Buchanan who predeceased him in 2006. Loving father of Lyle and Barbara of RR1 Atwood and Mary and Brad Smith of Goderich. Special Papa of Bonnie and Alex, Tyler, Curtis and Alysia and Jillian and Mark. Brother of Nina Cummings, Andy Buchanan and friend Marion. Brother-in-law of Shirley Buchanan, Howard (Barb) Darroch and Jessie Buchanan. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Bert and Margaret (Broughton) Buchanan, brothers and sisters Edna and husband Jim Laurie, Olive and husband Laird Cummings, Glen Buchanan, Myrta Darroch, Gladys and husband Ross Scott, Alex Buchanan, infant brothers Ross and Lorenzo and infant sister Emily, sister-in-law Delores Buchanan and brother-in-law Nelson Cummings.
Relatives and friends are invited to share their memories at the Elma Memorial Community Centre, Atwood on Friday May 1, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Ruth Long officiating. Interment in Donegal Cemetery, Donegal.

PUSTAY, Helen of Glencoe

Pustay HelenIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Helen Mary Pustay of Glencoe, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Four Counties Health Services. She was in her 83rd year. She is the beloved wife of Steve, and loving mother of Ann and Bill Edwards of Glencoe, Ed and Julie Pustay of Mt. Brydges and Cindy and Fred Staels of Newbury. She was a very proud grandmother to Ryan and Jen Edwards of Toronto, Kelly and Richard Galbraith of Appin, Brendan Edwards of London, Sarah (Jared) and Haley Pustay of Mt. Brydges, Nathan (Brittany), Justin (Megan) and Jordan (Sandee) Staels of Newbury. She is a special Great-grandmother to Charlotte and Sophie Edwards and Ryerson and Kennedy Galbraith. Helen is predeceased by her 2 brothers and a sister in Slovakia. She is also survived by her brother-in law, Peter Pustay and his wife Joyce of Kanata, and her sister-in law Mary Janicek of Oil Springs. Steve and Helen lived in the farming community of Model Centre for 54 years. Even after moving into town, they always felt part of the community they left behind. Steve and Helen celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in February. Helen enjoyed playing cards with her friends at Millstone Manor and the Horizons Senior Centre. She always looked forward to family get-togethers so that she could serve her famous cabbage rolls and pastries. Visitation will be held at Van Heck Funeral Home, 172 Symes Street, Glencoe Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Charles Garnier Church, 244 Stella St. Glencoe on Friday May 1st at 11am. Rev. D. Matthew Bedard officiating. Interment at North American Martyrs Cemetery. KUNEJEW, Stepanida “Stephanie” – Peacefully on April 28, 2015 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital, at the age of 94 years.  Loving wife of the late Peter.  Beloved mother of Lydia Polstra (Archie) and Alex (Joanne).  Cherished grandmother of Kyle and Nikki Kunejew.  Stephanie will be dearly missed by her nephew Musalym “Misha” Mingazutdinov.  Family will receive friends at the MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main Street, on Thursday April 30th from 7-9 p.m.  Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday morning at 10:00a.m.  A private interment will be held at a later time.  As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

TERRYBERRY, Marilyn Elizabeth (nee Walton)

Terryberry, Marilyn blvigAfter a short illness, Marilyn passed peacefully at Roy T. Adams Centre, St. Catharines, on Monday, April 27, 2015, at the age of 80.  She leaves behind her husband Sonny, son Scott, daughter Tracy Ellerbeck (Rick), grandchildren; Diane, Andrew and Nicole.  Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.  We will all miss her good humor and contagious laugh.

A service to honor Marilyn’s life will be held at Morse & Son Funeral Home, 5917 Main St. on Monday, May 4, 2015 at 2 p.m.  Inurnment to follow in Fairview Mausoleum.  Those who wish may make a memorial donation to either the Alzheimer’s Society or to Heart & Stroke Foundation.
