Dear grandfather of Brent Lawrence of Goderich and Jessica Lawrence of Toronto. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Jane and David Harris of Ottawa, Ann Kikkert of Zurich, Tony Uyl, John and Ruth Uyl, and Peter and Linda Uyl all of Blyth, Bernice and Bob Brook of London, and Blossom Jones of London. Remembered by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son-in-law Paul Lawrence. Larry was a proud lifetime member and past-president of the Royal Canadian Legion – Branch #468 Hensall.
Friends and family may call at the Exeter Christian Reformed Church, 332 Huron Street West, Exeter on Monday, March 2nd from 9:30-10:30 AM, where the funeral service will be held at 11 AM. Peacefully, at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital on Saturday, February 28th, 2015, Margaret Thompson (nee Paff) of Lucan in her 78th year. Beloved wife of the late Carman Thompson (2010). Caring mom of Margaret Anne and Rodger Forrest, Wayne Paff and his fiancée Brenda Tulk, Brenda and Lyle Stubbs, Donna and Ken Smith, and Jody and Steve Morreau. Margaret will be fondly remembered by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her siblings, brothers and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her daughter-in-law Bonnie Paff (2013). Cremation has taken place. Friends and family will be received at Calvary Pentecostal Church on Thursday, March 5th, 2015 from 11am until the time of the Funeral Service at 1pm. Grant will be fondly remembered by Tori, Alisana, Emma, Molly, Kent, Dayna, Tyler, Brittney, Christopher, Kailyn, Shannon, Jennifer, Talina and Amy. Great Grandfather of McKinlay, Ella and Rushton. PLANTT; James “Jim” and Ruth of Hanover

James “Jim” Plantt passed away on Friday, February 27, 2015 in his 90th year and his wife Ruth (Code) Plantt passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2015 in her 84th year both at the Hanover and District Hospital. Jim and Ruth were married for over 65 years.

Jim was born on May 15,1925 in Beaver Valley to the late Wilfred and Harriet (Armstrong) Plantt.  He was a Veteran of WWII enlisting in 1943 to 1946.  In 1943 he served in the European Theatre including France and Belgium and returning home to Canada in 1946. He was a member of the Hanover Legion Branch # 130 and chairman of the Hanover Hydro Commision. Jim was a proud partner of Grey Bruce Utility Service, Hanover Truck Bodies and Snow White Laundry which he operated alongside Ernest “Scotty” Duncan.

Ruth was born April 4,1931 in Hanover, Ontario to the late Lloyd and Norma (Helwig) Code.  Ruth was a secretary at Hanover Hoisery Factory and a member of the Hanover Horticultural Society. She loved being artistic and was an accomplished artist along with her talent to play the organ by ear in her spare time.

Survived by loving children Randy (Deborah) Plantt of North Bay, Rick (Bente) Plantt of Hanover, Debra (Homer) Emke of Wingham and Sonya (Alan) Hansen of Whitehorse, Yukon, beloved grandparents to 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. James was predeceased by his brother Wesley Plantt, sisters Lillian King, Elsie Dickson and Jean Pendelton. Ruth was predeceased by her brother Wes Code.

Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm.  A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 04, 2015 at 11:00 am, at Victory Fellowship Baptist Church, Hanover. Rev. Paul Holden officiating.  Interment in Hanover Cemetery.

Brother of Barbara Gilchrist of London, Joyce Burgin (James) of St. Thomas, Ruby Cromwell (Terry) of Fingal, Wendy Ward (Ken) of St. Thomas, Leonard J. Loving Father to sons Paul (Kimberly) and Mark (Kelly Zeray). Grandfather to Mathew, Christopher, Kyle H, Ashleigh, Kyle A and Kirk. Harry was born in Norwich, England on April 4, 1931 to Harry (1959) and Florence (1997). In 1966 he, Jasmine and their sons immigrated to Canada with a hope of creating a better life for their family. Harry worked in Toronto as a fire inspector and underwriter for the Royal Insurance Company before moving to Windsor as branch manager. In 1973 he joined Sidney Lazarus as a partner in All-Risks Insurance Brokers. Harry retired in 1996 and spent his retirement relaxing between his homes in LaSalle and Florida. He was an avid short wave radio enthusiast, hobbyist and also served with the Royal Air Force from 1952 to 1954. Harry will be greatly missed by us all for his sharp wit, anecdotes and unique view of life. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring and compassionate staff of St. Clair Villages for their care and attention during Harry’s final days. Cremation has taken place per Harry’s wishes and his remains will be returned to the UK for interment. Predeceased by her beautiful eldest daughter Deborah (1991), and beloved husband and best friend George (1998). Survived by her youngest daughter Rachel (Michael), sisters Jessica (Paul) and Roma (Peter), and brother Steve (Myra). She was a loving aunt to eight nieces and nephews, and six great nieces and nephews. Ilene was born in Poland on September 7, 1942, to Stanley (1991) and Mary (2006) Studenny. She came to Canada in 1960, where she met and married the love of her life, George, in 1963. They lived in both Toronto and London, raised two beautiful daughters and had a wonderful circle of family and friends both here in Canada and in Poland. Ilene’s family would like to express their gratitude to the Doctors and Nurses at the Parkwood Palliative Care Unit for the wonderful care she received. “Everything was almost perfect”

Following a rich and happy life, Bob passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the age of 75 from heart-related problems.  Beloved husband for 51 years of Carol Lynne (née Jacques). Loving father of Stephen of Guelph, Gordon (Milena) of Ancaster, and DHead (edited)onald (Carrie) of Oakville.  Bob was the adored Poppa of Megan and Evan.  He was the son of Marion (née Smeltzer) and Melville Head.  He is survived by his sister Patricia (Jim Williams), niece Carolyn (Richard Williams), nephew Andrew, and grand-nephew Oliver.  A beloved teacher and mentor for 33 years, he inspired the passion for music among countless number of students.  He taught for the Toronto District School Board and the Thames Valley District School Board (Beck, Banting, Lucas and Saunders).  He was a co-founder of the National Music Camp of Canada and was its inaugural Music Director for 31 years.  His passion for music was felt around the world, as he introduced the classroom method of teaching music in Germany for almost 8 years.  An avid bridge player, who was just short of his Gold Life Master.  Later in life he discovered the thrill and frustration of the Links.  His infectious laugh could be heard across the golf course as he thoroughly enjoyed playing with good friends and family. Relatives and friends will be received at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where the memorial service will be conducted on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 1:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior. whiteman-webDonna Whiteman, formerly of Hanover, passed away peacefully at Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce, Owen Sound with her family by her side on Friday, February 27, 2015.  She was 68.

Survived by loving husband Wayne Whiteman of R#1 Shallow Lake, their daughter Miranda (Aaron) Keeling of R #1 Shallow Lake,  Donna’s children Wanda (Gary) Whiteman of Carlsruhe, John Pollard of B.C., Dale Pollard of Hanover, Jason Pollard (Tracey Leroux) of Owen Sound, Wayne’s children Susan Haskett of Barrie and Bill Powell of Niagara Falls, several grandchildren, step grandchildren and one step-greatgrandchild.  She will be remembered by her step mother Verna Simpson of Balmy Beach and sisters Gail (Ron) McKibbon, Kathy Simpson both of Owen Sound, Lynn (Bob) Leighton of Elmira, Carol (Ray) Rankin of Wellsley, Barbara (Doug) Maluske, Betty Simpson both of Owen Sound, Kirby Simpson of West Bank, B.C., Susan (Hank) Mosher of North Bay, Debbie (Murray) Aiken of Allenford, Jackie (Jim) Perry of West Bank, B.C., Lori (Dale) Morton of R#1 Hepworth, Sandra (Joe) Shipley of R#1 Wiarton and by her brothers Bill (Sandy) Simpson, Carey (Annie) Simpson both of Owen Sound, Mike (Debbie) Simpson of Brampton, Jerry (Debbie) Simpson, Peter (Belinda) Simpson both of Owen Sound, Rob (Linda) Simpson of Park Head and Jim Simpson of Windsor. Donna will be remembered by her brothers and sisters in law, many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews and a great great nephew. Predeceased by her father Lloyd Simpson, mother Kathleen Schnurr and step father Henry Schnurr.

Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Monday, March 2, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.  A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 03, 2015 at 11:00 am, at Hanover Baptist Church.  Rev. Jim Kinsman officiating.  Interment in Hanover Cemetery.

After a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s, it is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Joy on Feb. 25, 2015 at 87 years of age. Beloved wife of 60 years to Hugh. Cherished mother of Ian (Mary), Keith (Anna), and the late Kathryn (1963). Loving grandma of Courtney, Trevor, Eric and Michael. Dear sister of the late Jack & Pat Campbell, and Gord & Barb Campbell. Survived by her sister-in-law Joan Vickers (Bert). She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. 80 years, of Tilbury, passed away at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Thursday, February 26, 2015.  Beloved husband of Diane Martin-Gardiner and the late Darleen (Bagley) (2001).  Loving father of Debbie (Peter) Mindorff, Joan Gardiner-Quenneville, Kathy (Gerry) Desaulniers, Bill (Jennifer) Gardiner, and step-father of Ken Martin (Lisa), Ron (Tracey) Martin, Don (Nicole) Martin, and Janice Martin (Steve).  Dearest grandfather of Joshua, Nathan, Matthew, Christopher, Nicholas, Bret, Brenna, Nolan, Victoria, Brydon, and Nicholas.  Predeceased by parents William Gardiner (1978) and Annie (Ross) Gardiner (1999).  Dear brother of the late Helen Gardiner, the late Billy Gardiner, the late Agnes (surviving husband Charles Robinson), Margaret (late husband Myles Cowan), and Betty (late husband Jim Ford).  Dear brother-in-law of the late Darwin Bagley, the late Barton Bagley, Jean Waddick, and Jerry (Angie) Lozon.  Doug was co-owner of Wilson Plumbing and Heating with the late Robert Brooks.  Dearly missed by many nieces and nephews.  Visitation and Reaume Funeral Home, 6 Canal St. W., Tilbury on Saturday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., and on Sunday from 1-4 p.m.  Funeral service at the funeral home Monday, March 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.  Pastor Doreen Hewitson officiating.  Interment at Stewart Cemetery.  Memorial donations to The Lung Association or Chatham-Kent Hospice appreciated.

Passed away at Rockwood Terrace, Durham on Wednesday, February 25th, 2015. Carol McLean-Hearn, the former Carol Frances Elizabeth Lawson, in her 77th year. Beloved wife of the late Peter Hearn. Dear mother of Bob & Cheryl McLean, Ingersoll, Don & Angela McLean, Walkerton, Scott & Robin McLean, England, Susan Skelton, Midland and Steven & Pamela McLean, Harriston. Grandma of Rob & Karrie, Sarah & Jared, Ryan & Zoe, Donald & Jo-anne, Jason & Stephanie, Carly & Connor, Blake & Katie, Kahland, Kyle and Keiran. Great Grandma of Logan, Hannah, Grace, Dominic, Max and Vivian. Dear sister of Albert Lawson, Ayr, Ethel Bertin, Winnipeg, Marion Skitch, Brantford and Bill Lawson, Golden, B.C. Passed away at Hospice Simcoe, Barrie on Tuesday, February 24th, 2015.  Mary Donna Margaret Rands, of Barrie and formerly of Stayner and Durham, in her 64th year.  Beloved wife of the late Paul Rands. Cherished friend of Michael Kenwell of Barrie. Loving daughter of Isabel Edge. Dear sister of Donald (Shirley) of Durham, Dale of Alberta, Norleen (Keith) Hie of Orangeville and Judith (Jerry) Beausejour of Alberta.  Fondly remembered by niece Cassandra Edge and nephews Colin and Tristin Edge and Leon Beausejour.  Predeceased by her father, Daniel Edge.
