(nee Lowes) – A resident of Blenheim, and formerly of Chatham, Selina Goodbrand passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus on Friday, November 29, 2013 at the age of 92. Born in Ingersoll, Selina was the daughter of the late Richard and Cissy Lowes. Beloved wife of the late J. Lloyd Goodbrand (1984). Loving mother of Howard Goodbrand (Lu-Ann Minchin) of Blenheim and Joy Simmons (Richard) of Pembroke. Will be missed by very close friend Cheryl Brook. Proud grandmother of Jonathan Goodbrand (Ashley) of London. Dear sister to the late Richard “Charles” Lowes. Also missed by friends and extended family. Selina was a retired R.N. and had worked at both the Public General Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chatham. She also worked at Dr. Pierce’s office, as well as many private homes when required by a physician. She loved baking and making cakes and cookies for friends and neighbours. She also baked and decorated cakes for private parties, anniversaries, birthdays and retirement parties. Selina was an active member at the Blenheim United Church for over 30 years. She loved to sing in the church choir. Selina was also active in the I.O.D.E. Randolph Churchill Chapter, Blenheim for over 30 years.  She had volunteered at the Blenheim Community Village for many years before she became a resident. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Blenheim at a later date. Peacefully at Trillium Villa Nursing Home on Saturday, November 30, 2013, ROSE ELLEN LINDSAY (nee Eheler), age 95 of Sarnia passed away. Beloved wife of the late Orville Richard Wesley Lindsay (1960).Dear mother of Wilbert Norman Lindsay and his wife Mona of Sarnia and David Graham Lindsay and his wife Donna of British Columbia.Cherished grandmother of Christopher, Darrin, Kevin and Rhonda and great grandmother of Lily and Maia. Rose was a longtime employee of the Sarnia Jail where she worked as a Matron. The family would like to thank the staff at Trillium Villa Nursing Home and Vision Rest Home for the excellent care Mom received. Cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held at Lakeview Cemetery at a later date. Beloved wife of the late Leonard Travis (2010).  Loving mother of Gary D. Travis of Chatham, and the late Leonard D. web_Vance, WilliamOur lives have forever changed. It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Scotty after a long struggle on November 29, 2013 at the age of 86 years. Beloved husband of Phyllis (Newton) for 63 years. Cherished father of Carol and Carl Amlin, Bobby Vance, Susie and Rick Anderson, LeeAnn and John Gillies, and Phyllis Butler. Proud grandfather of 16 grandchildren and 26.5 great grandchildren. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. Scotty retired from Union Gas Co. (1986) and worked for 13 years at the Hook and Ladder Club as a bartender. Scotty together with his son Bobby were long time fixtures at the Windsor Arena as season ticket holders for the Spitfires. He also loved his Detroit Red Wings along with the Tigers and the Lions. He was most passionate about the time he spent with his family. Watching his family and friends have fun gave him his true joy. A special thanks to all the staff on 2 North at Windsor Regional-Ouellette Campus for their care and compassion. We would also like to thank Stephen from PariMed, who was not only our father’s PSW but became a friend. Betsie passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 28, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family and friends at the age of 64.  She is the beloved wife of 45 years to Silvino ‘Dave’ Cabral.  Cherished mother of John Cabral, Dave Cabral (Lisa), Silvino Cabral (Cathy) and predceased by an infant son (1969).  Loving grandmother to Darien, Jonathan, Devin, Courtney, Kyle, Cody, Charlee, Chase and Mason.  Dearest sister of Abraham De Waal (Hilda), Gerry De Waal (Barbara), John Jr. De Waal (Diane), Martin De Waal (Carol) and the late Gerry DeWaal.  Betsie will be missed by her extended Cabral relatives, nieces, nephews, godchildren, many friends, and especially by her four legged friend Chloe.  Betsie was a beautiful woman, full of life.  She cherished spending time with family and friends.  A special thank you to Victor and Roxanne Belli, Maria Couto and Aurelia Charamba whom never left our sides in Betsie’s final days.  A warm thank you to Madeline Shanks for her compassionate care and support to Betsie and her family during her illness.  And thank you to each and everyone of you whom offered support with visits, cards, flowers and phone calls.  Visiting at the Reid Funeral Home & Reception Centre, 14 Russell Street, Leamington on Sunday from 2-5 & 7-9 p.m.  Parish Prayers Sunday at 3 p.m.  Funeral Mass to celebrate Betsie’s life will be held Monday, December 2, 2013 at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph’s Church, 310 Sherk Street, Leamington.  Fr. Norris, Agnes ORIG Peacefully with family by her side on Thursday, November 28, 2013 at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital, Agnes Marie Norris (nee Moore) passed away on her 91st birthday.  Loving wife of the late George D. Norris (1991).  Dear mother of Ron Norris of London, Judy (Edward) Walsh of London and Gerry (Lori) Norris of Strathroy.  Loving grandmother to  Devin, Ryan and Iain Walsh, all of London.   Step grandmother to Amiel  Houghton-Seaton (John) of St. Thomas and Ashley Houghton of London.  Great grandmother to Bloom and Juno.  Sadly missed by her sisters Doris Sudicky of London,  Dorothy Nesbit (Hugh) of Dorchester and brother Edward “Ted” Moore of Strathroy.  Forever remembered by many nieces and nephews.  Special Aunt to Donna (Glenn) Thomson.   Predeceased by sisters Jean Watson, Vie Morrison and Hazel Moore, brothers Donald Moore, Lewis Moore, Howard Moore and Robert Moore.  Agnes was most known for her independence, love of family and love for her canine companions.  Agnes joined the Lorna Rebekah Lodge in West Lorne in 1948 and later the Lady Howard Rebekah Lodge in Strathroy.  During this time she was proud to have served a term as President of the Rebekah Assembly of Ontario.  She was also an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion.  She was an avid fan of the London Knights hockey team and skated with the team when she was in her eighties at a “Skate With The Knights” event.  Agnes worked many years as a Registered Nursing Assistant at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital. Cremation has taken place.  A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, December 3rd at the Sir Arthur Currie, Branch 116 of the Royal Canadian Legion, 266 Metcalfe Street West, Strathroy, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.  As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the London Humane Society.  Online condolences accepted at www.deningfuneralhomes.com.  A tree will be planted as a living memorial to Agnes.

Beloved husband of Shirley (McKerrall) Houston. Loving father of Stephen Houston (Julie) of Chatham, and Karen Vandecaveye (Brian) of Wyoming. Loving grandpa of Grayson, Andrew and Hayley. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sisters Grace Adams, Doris Jackson, and Lois Arnold. Born Alma Glasser in Wistin, Lithuania on April 15, 1923, the daughter of William and Bertha Glasser, died in her apartment on Monday, November 25, 2013. Alma was predeceased by her parents, her daughter Connie Reeves, her sister Hertha, and her brother Oswald. Alma had three children, Connie, Wendy, and Doug. She is survived by her sister Velma, her daughter Wendy, her son Doug and her four grandchildren Jeff Williams, Cathie Orfali, Mark Reeves, and Beth McNatt. Her nine great grandchildren are Laura, Kyle, Caroline, Natalie, Justin, Deanna, Ryan, Genevieve, and Elise. Alma Howe was a long time member of the First Lutheran Church in Windsor where she taught Sunday school and led the children’s choir. Finally at peace Ashley Michelle Ross (Giresi) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at the age of 25, joining her beloved Grandma. Young, vibrant, devoted and loving mother of Anjay, Aliviah, Ryleigh, and Taylor. Beautiful special daughter of Michelle Ross (Ron). Cherished granddaughter of Clair (the late Maxine) Ross. Loved sister of Aaylea Giresi. Dear niece of Mike Ross. Treasured great-granddaughter of Thelma Ross. Survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family. Fondly remembered and adored by her many close friends who will miss her infectious smile. Ashley was a student at Lambton College, a loving mother, and a passionate singer with a beautiful voice. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. A celebration of Ashley’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2013, at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, with family and friends being received one hour prior to the service. A private family interment will be held at Lakeview Cemetery. After a courageous battle with cancer, David Allen Birchmore passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at the age of 82. Beloved husband of the late Molly Kathleen (Wild) Birchmore (2003). Loving father of Beth Anne Neil (David), Jeff Birchmore (Sylvain Cardinal), Jon Birchmore (Sandy Nicholas). As an only child, he was predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Beulah Birchmore, and is fondly remembered by his extended Wild family. Dave lived a full life. In his youth he was a pilot and OPP officer, then focused on technology in both his careers and free time. He was always up for learning something new. His warm sense of humour and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A special thank you to the CCAC team and his amazing neighbours for enabling him to be at home, and to his friends for their support and care. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Dave’s life will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the SMITH FAMILY CENTRE (in front of Smith Funeral Home), 1576 London Line, Sarnia. Dear father of Christianne of Portland, Ryan of Maberly and Josh at home. Predeceased by son, Lucas and his parents, Edgar and Claire (Grant) Serson. ranger jeannetteJeannette Ida Ranger born Myre passed away peacefully at the Prescott-Russell Residence on November 16th 2013 at the age of 93. Wife of the late Charles-Auguste (Ti-Gus). She leaves to mourn her cherished children, Claudette (late Stuart Bower), Robert and Lynne, her son-in-law Ivan Lavoie, her grandchildren Sara (Greg McDonald) and Nicolas and three loving great grandchildren Adam, Alexander and Kayla. Daughter of the lates Aurore (Roy) Myre-Charbonneau, Philippe Myre and Ludger Charbonneau (stepfather).She was predeceased by three brothers, Dorice, Philippe (late Thérèse), Noël (Annette), two sisters Georgette (late Charles Waite) and Reina (late Richard Ouellette, late Elwood Grandy). She is survived by her sisters Marcelle (late Raymond Larocque), Sergine Rachelle (Claude-Yves Bouchard), her sisters-in-law Annette Myre, Yvette Laviolette, Rita (Lionel Goulet), Dolline (Gérard Hoffman), her brother-in-law Philippe (Ti-Noir) Ranger and many nephews and nieces including her goddaughters Carole (Larocque) Berthiaume and Murielle (Goulet) Morin. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella since 1958. The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff at the Prescott-Russell Residence for all the excellent cares given to their mother. A very special thanks to her niece Marlaine Waite for her priceless assistance for many years.
