Passed away at Rockwood Terrace, Durham on Easter Sunday, March 31st, 2013.  Dorothy Jean Beaton (nee Gomm), formerly of RR#2 Priceville, in her 88th year.   Beloved wife of the late Keith Beaton.  Loving mother of Shirley and her husband Vince Judge of Listowel, Betty Lou and her husband Dave Morrison of Durham, Gloria and her husband Ben Morris, Mary and her husband Steve Wyma, and Bruce Beaton all of Priceville.  Fondly remembered by her 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.  Survived by her sisters Anne Lehman and Ruby Brown.  Predeceased by her parents Harry and Anne Gomm, her sisters Nellie Brown and Marion Weppler, her infant sister Ruth Gomm, her brothers-in-law Alfred Weppler, Vic Brown, Vince Lehman and Gordon Brown.   Friends may call at the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham on Wednesday, April 3rd from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m.  A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at the Glenelg Centre Baptist Church on Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock, with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Spring interment at McNeil Cemetery.  As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Glenelg Centre Baptist Church (Accessibility Fund), the Alzheimer Society or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.  www.mccullochwatsonfuneralhome.ca

Mrs. KerrJoan passed peacefully at home with her husband and daughters at her side, after a courageous battle with Cancer.  Survived by her loving husband Larry, children Sheri Dzierwa (Chris) of London and Heather Kerr (Hank Johnson) of St. Thomas, grandchildren Bryan, Matthew, Alexander and Mackenzie.  Also survived by her sister Dianne Oliver (Larry) of Mitchell, niece Denise Oliver, nephew Shaun Oliver, both of London and five godchildren, Jim Elders, Jana Quik, Juli Elders, Jeni Spicer and Jeff Elders.  She will be missed by cousins and friends.  She was an elementary school teacher and homemaker.  Joan volunteered with Girl Guides of Canada in several positions and received provincial recognition.  She also provided volunteer service to CKHA.  She was an active member of Victoria Ave. and First Presbyterian churches.  She enjoyed camping, canoeing, RVing, swimming, gardening, sewing, crafts and car shows.  She took an active interest in supporting her grandchildrens’ sporting activities, teaching them crafts and included them in her camping outings.  Her determination, adventurous spirit, dedication to family and church will be greatly missed.  Family and friends are invited to the Alexander & Houle Funeral Home, 245 Wellington West, Chatham, 519-352-2710, on Wednesday, April 3rd, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.  The funeral service for Joan (JoKer) will be conducted in the chapel in the funeral home on Thursday, April 4th, at 1:30 pm. with Rev. Whelihan Mary webPeacefully, at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance-Sydenham Campus, Wallaceburg on Saturday, March 30, 2013 of Lucan, recently of Chatham, in her 100th year. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Whelihan (1993). Dearly missed by her son Patrick (Donna) and their children Carol and Andy Gates, Sharon and Scott Jordan, and Brian Rouble and Kate Latimer, as well as their six grandchildren. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, especially Gordon Mitchell (Joanne), Mary Anne Forrest and Stephen Mitchell as well as many friends and relatives too numerous to mention, including Meintje Ferwerda (Peter) and Lauretta Blake. Predeceased by her brother, Frank Mitchell (1980) and his wife Edith (2007).

Mary was born in Biddulph Township. She grew up surrounded by cousins by the dozens and lived most of her life on the farm and in Lucan, ON. Her door was always open and her witty sense of humour delighted all who knew her. In 1934 Mary graduated as a nurse from St. Joseph’s Hospital, London and served as a private nurse for many years. She was a sixty year member and past president of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Women’s League, Lucan.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Maple City Retirement Home, Chatham, especially Deanna Hansor, for making Mary’s last years so comfortable. Special thanks to Dr. Don Hastings and the staff at Chatham-Kent Alliance and to Father Frank Leslie, Chaplain, for taking such good care of her in her last days.

Beloved wife of the late  Ronald William Myers.  Loving mother of Brenda Darling (Larry) of Prescott and Kevin Myers of Brockville. Cherished grandmother of Addianna Darling. Sister of Alice McLean, Art Throop (Kay) both of Prescott, Earl Throop (Helen) of Maitland, Mary Reynolds and Dureen Robinson both of Prescot. Loving mother to her son, Norberto Mota and daughter, Maria Inez Faria. Survived by her daughter-in-law Beatriz and son-in-law, Fernando. Grandmother to Paula Mota, Paul Faria, Fatima Mota, Victor Faria, PollyAnna Faria and Danny Mota. Great Grandmother to Matthew, Marcus, Jamie, Brandon, Mercedes, Joshua, Bradley, Alexandria, Azarha, Anthony, Mackenzie, Isabella and Lexa. Loving mother of Dale Aitken  Tull and his wife Rose of London. Loved  aunt of  Rosalie  Branagh of St. Thomas.  Sadly missed  by several great nieces, nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Noreen was born July 9, 1925 in St. Thomas, the daughter of the late Herbert and Dorothy (Roberts) Aitken. She was a member of Trinity Anglican Church. She retired from Elite Fashions.

Loved son of the late Claude and Blanche Ryckman and step-son of the late John Shannon. Dear brother of Victoria (Harry) Ryckman of St. Thomas. Predeceased by 2 brothers Clfton and James Charlton. Dear uncle of  Anthony Ryckman, George (Miranda) Ryckman  and Dawn Ryckman (Byron) and great uncle of Sara, Ally, Emily and Isaac. Best friend of Jim (Gayle) Wray. Dear cousin of Ken Smith, Shirley Bobier and Matt and Sharon Marshall. Jack was born in  Yarmouth Township on April 8th, 1940. He was a farm equipment salesman.

Busby, George “Wray” of St. Thomas, passed away on Thursday, March 28th, 2013, at the Nipissing Manor Nursing Home, North Bay, in his 86th year. Beloved husband of the late Gladys (Colman) Busby and dearly loved father of Garnet “Wray’ Busby (Lisa Helm) of Kansas City and Jane Arlene Sauve (Rene) of North Bay. Much loved grandfather of Rusty Lee Busby, Erich Wray Busby, Courtney Leigh Busby, Tawnecia Shirley Tai, Tamara Dorothy Sauve and Chad Aldege Omer Sauve. Dear great grandfather of Mackenzie, Nathan, Logan and Sydney.  Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Wray was born in Bridgeview, On (Fort Erie) on August 19th, 1927, the son of the late Garnet George and Katherine Madeline (Bunn) Busby. He was a retired locomotive engineer. Wray was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of St. David’s Masonic Lodge #302 A.F. and A.M.

Walzak, Michael Charles “Mike” of St. Thomas, passed away on Wednesday, March 27th, 2013, after a short illness, in his 70th year. Dearly loved husband and best friend of Linda (Leith) Walzak. Loved father of David Walzak and Jenny (Daren) Brown and children Bradley and Brooke. Loved step-father of Martin and children Michael and Christopher; Michelle (Matthew) and children Joseph, Laura, Emma and Rachel; Rodger; Tony (Danielle) and children Alice and Jealyn; Angie and children Jack and Aaron. Dear brother of Patricia (Den) Storey. Jim Walzak (Val), Brian Walzak (Debbie) and the late John Walzak (Laurie). Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Mike was born in London, Ontario on November 23rd, 1943, the son of the late Charles and Katharine (O’Brien) Walzak. He has lived in St. Thomas over 61 years. He was a retired engineer with the CSX Railroad.

Potter, Diana Christine of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, March 26th, 2013, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in her 56th year. Dearly loved wife and best friend of David Potter and much  loved mother of Angela Christine and her husband David Shelton, Cassandra Eleanor Potter and “D.J.” David Howard Potter Jr. and his partner Donna Furtah.  Loved daughter of Frank and Ferne Horton and  dear daughter-in-law of Victor and June Potter. Specially loved grandmother of Trey Andrew Bembridge, Ryken David Kenneth Farr and Owen David  Shelton.  Dear sister of Frannie Schram and her husband Bruce. Dear sister-in-law of Kathy and John Cronheimer and Vicki and David Loucks and MarkPotter. Diana lived most of her life in St. Thomas, except for 6 years in Sudbury. She worked at Zellers. Diana was a member of First United Church. Diana believe that family was always  the number one priority.

McGregor, Leslie Ernest of Parkwood Hospital, London, and formerly of Dexter, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 24th, 2013, in his 86th year. Beloved husband of the late June Marie (Whiting) McGregor (Nov. 2, 1996) and loving father of Kenneth Stanley “Sandy” McGregor and his wife Lynn of Port Stanley and Robin McGregor and partner Audrey of London. Cherished grandfather of Mark, April , Jewel, Rob, Roy and Kim. Sadly missed by 4 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Mary and her husband Ed Mylrea of Rodney. Predeceased by 2 brothers Howard and Ken. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. He was born in St. Thomas on August 3rd, 1926. He was a former member of the Dexter United Church. Leslie served in the Merchant Navy during World War II.

Friends will be received at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Thursday, March 28th from 10:00-11:00 a.m. The funeral service to celebrate Leslie’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Elmdale Cemetery.Remembrances may be made to the charity of choice.The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Parkwood Hospital Veterans Care Program, 4 Bruce, London, for the compassion and care they showed Leslie.

Stocker, John Edward of St. Thomas, passed away on Saturday, March 23rd, 2013, at the L. H.S.C. (Victoria Campus), peacefully, in his 67th year. Dearly loved father of Michael Stocker and his wife Valerie and Janet and her husband Stephen Birch, all of St.,. Thomas. Loved partner of Joan Massicotte and her family Wayne and Cheryl and families. Loved grandfather of Justin, Jenney, Julia and Holly. Dear brother of Midge and her husband Dave Wilkins of St. Thomas. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. John was born in St. Thomas on March 8th, 1947, the son of the late Edward and Alice (Wood) Stocker. He was retired from Canada Post, Straffordville.

Beattie, Charles John “Jack” of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, March 23rd, 2013, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in his 80th year. Dearly loved husband and best friend of over 59 years of Shirley (Thomas) Beattie. Much loved father of Tom Beattie of London, Michael Beattie (Sharon Zegers) of St. Thomas and Heather Matheson ( Michael) of Kilworth. Specially loved grandfather of Taylor and Jeffery. Dear brother of Gary Beattie (Linda) of Fingal and the late Kenneth Beattie. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Jack was born in Niagara Falls on June 26th, 1933, the son of the late Thomas and Madeline Beattie. He worked as a police officer for the St. Thomas Police Department, then for the Railroad and then became an entrepreneur and builder. Jack built many of the buildings in St. Thomas and district.

The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Thursday, March 28th from 3:30-5:00 p.m. A celebration of life for Jack will be held at 5:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Remembrances may be made to the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital Foundation and Pets/Friends for Life. A very special thanks to the doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers of the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital for their wonderful, compassionate care.

Prendivoj- Stephanie of St. Thomas and formerly of Mississauga passed away at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Thursday March 21, 2013 in her 70th year. Loved wife of Joseph Prendivoj and loving mother of Joanne Buehler and Gordon Prendivoj . Loving grandmother of Aaron Buehler, Alisha and her husband Decota Collins and Ryan Buehler. Dear sister of Steve Dresar and his wife Branka, Ljubo Dresar and Danica Jurinic. Dear daughter-in-law of Kata Prendivoj. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Stephanie was born September 12, 1943 in Croatia, the daughter of the late Leopold and Barbara Dresar. She was a Jehovah’s Witness.

Loving father of Gary & wife Pat Cooper, Barbara & husband Mark Gellner, Bonnie & husband Eric Bjorkman. Cherished grandpa of Christopher (Lindsay), Julianne (Trevor), Janine (James), Jane, Isaac (1997), Cynthia (Joey) and Aaron (Sarah). Treasured great-grandpa of Nathan, Hannah, Bethany, Sarah, Kayli, Brooklyn, Joshua and Noah. Samuel was a proud WW II Veteran and was retired from Chrysler Canada. He was a long-time member of Parkwood Gospel Temple and was known for his participation in the Remembrance Service for Veteran’s reciting the poem, “In Flanders Fields”. Samuel found joy in ministering to others in song in various local nursing homes. Visiting Monday 3-5pm & 7-9pm at Families First 3260 Dougall Ave. South Windsor, 519-969-5841.
