Peacefully with his family by his side at Bluewater Health on Saturday September 29th, 2012, MICHAEL GERRARD HAMELIN of Sarnia passed away at the age of 59. Loving father to Lisa (Ken) McLean of Strathroy, Michael-Paul Hamelin (Heather Fellows) of Guelph. Proud grandfather of Brayden and Cohen McLean. Cherished son of Joan Hamelin of London. Mike is survived by his sister Judy (Peter) Smith of London, their children Jenn and David Smith and all of their families. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at SMITH FUNERAL HOME (1576 London Line, Sarnia) on Wednesday October 3rd, 2012 at 11:00 am with one hour prior of visitation. Cherwonka, Nancy Ann (Kohut) of St. Thomas. It is with great sadness, that we announce the sudden passing of our Mother and “Baba” on Saturday, September 29th, 2012, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, with her family by her side. Beloved wife of the late Stan Cherwonka (2011) and loved mother of Gerry Yurkowski and his fiancée Kroa of East St. Paul, Manitoba, Mark Cherwonka of Ottawa and Jamie Cherwonka of Toronto. Loved “Baba” of Dallas, Dylan and future grandchild (Nov.) Loved sister of Elsie (Alex), Sonya (John) and Joan (Frank) of Winnipeg. Dear sister in law of Leonard (Sheila), Violet (Walter), late Eleanor, Eugene (Maxine) and late Bob (Theresa) of Alberta. Sadly missed by a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and dear neighbours. Nancy was born in Vita, Manitoba on May 6th, 1943, the daughter of the late John and Agnes (Mandziuk) Kohut. She worked for Great West Life and the C.N.R. in Winnipeg for the National Research Council of Alberta and for NSW Plastics. Nancy was a member of St. Anne’s Church and sang in the funeral choir.

Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas until Thursday morning and then to St. Anne’s Church where Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Holy Angels’ Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Wednesday at 8:45 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Passed away at Strathroy-Middlesex General Hospital on Friday, September 28, 2012, at the age of 65 years.  Beloved husband of Kathy and dear son of Dean Passmore-Bryce (Bill Bryce) and the late Doug Passmore.  Dear father of Trina Nolan (Ed) and Tanya Passmore (Kyle Pewtress).  Grandfather of Josiah, Zachary, Elijah, Sarah, Darian, Jenna, and Jack.  Brother of Linda Alpaugh (late Brian) of Forest, Lee & Chris Passmore of Ipperwash, Lisa & Ken Pettit of Forest, Carol & Bob Benson of Toronto, and Dave & Shelley Bryce of Petrolia.  Lonnie will also be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews.  Lonnie was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 1256 for 40 years.

At Lonnie’s request, cremation has taken place.  Friends may call at the Forest United Church on  Thursday, October 4, 2012, from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm.  A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 pm at the Forest United Church with Rev. CHAPMAN, Herbert Horace 1921 – 2012

 Passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at the age of 91. He will be deeply missed by his wife of almost 64 years Cecelia Marie, his children Laura (André Juneau), Anthony and Victoria (Don Hansen) and grandchildren Martine and Nicholas, their father David Paget and by his brother Laurence. He is predeceased by his daughter Jane, his brother Gerald and his sister Marjorie.
Harry was born in Truro, Nova Scotia where he grew up loving big band music and dancing. He always referred to the Maritimes as home. Harry served in the RCAF during WW II and, although he never spoke of it, was decorated for bravery. He was an alumnus of Nova Scotia Agricultural College and McGill and a committed federal public servant for more than 25 years. Harry loved flying and sailing. He flew his own small plane and built his own sailboat, but his greatest passion, aside from his family, was farming to which he devoted himself full-time for more than 30 years until his 85th year.
There will be a private family funeral. Donations to the War Amps of Canada would be appreciated.

Dear father of Nela Kauenhofen and husband John, Anna Hiebert and husband Philip, Peter Abrams and wife Margaret, John Abrams (deceased), Eva Giesbrecht and husband Issac, Sara Zacharias and husband Frank, Will Abrams and wife Debbie and Helen Stoesz and husband Carl. Father-in-law of Valerie Abrams. There are 30 grandchildren, 70 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Also survived by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.  Passed away peacefully with his wife Jenny by his side at Leamington District Mem. Hospital. Born in Bridgeburg (Fort Erie), Ont. Predeceased by his parents, Steve and Elizabeth Sabina and his cousin Douglas Kaltenecker. Beloved soul mate of 57 years to wife Jenny. Loving father of Steve (Edwarda) of  Windsor and Les (Evelyn) of Allegany,

N.Y. Cherished “Papa” of Heather, Anne, Robb and Christine. Les attended The Juilliard School, St. Bonaventure University and graduated from Cornell Universitywith an A.B. in Biology, He also received a Master of Science and Ph.D. from the Universityof Nebraska. Les was a professor at the University of  Windsor for 30 years, teaching microbiology and virology and publishing research in numerous scientific journals. Prior to his work at U of W., Les worked at Connaught Labs (Universityof Toronto) and Upjohn  Pharmaceuticals (KalamazooMI). Les was a former member of the Windsor Optimist Club. He was devoted to his family and was a gentle man in the true sense of the word.

Thank you to Dr. J. Maytham and the nurses and staff on 2E of Leamington Hospital for their compassionate care.

Dearly loved husband of 56 years of Joyce Mildred (Dennis) Kuranyi and much loved father of Joyce Parsons (Ross) of St. Thomas, Marion Vaughan (Brian) of St. Thomas, George Kuranyi (Nancy) of Exeter, Laurie Atterbury (Ken) of St. Thomas, Heather Coleman (Jeff) of Ingersoll and the late Jamie Kuranyi. Dear brother of Joe Kuranyi (Erna) of Rodney, Julie Raey (Don) of Hanover, Betty Rogers (Jim) of Hanover, Steve Kuranyi (Lorraine) of Hanover, Rose Lawrence (Nick) of Durham, Anne Harkes (Dave) of St. Thomas and Michael Kuranyi (Donna) of Hanover. Predeceased by a sister Cathy MacDonald. Sadly missed by 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. George was born in Sandwich, Ontario on December 7th, 1934, the son of the late Steve and Margaret (Foldy) Kuranyi. George served with the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1949-1952. George retired from the Ford Assembly Plant in Talbotville to the family cottage on the Rocky Saugeen, spending his time doing the things he loved. George was an avid outdoors man, and he cherished family gatherings.

Peacefully at the Northumberland Hills Hospital on Saturday September 29th, 2012 in her 83rd year.  Beloved wife of the late Gerard Marchand.  Loving mother of Gerard Marchand, Betty Marchand, Richard Marchand (Andrea), Debby McBride (Warren) and John Marchand (Lisa).  Dear grandmother of Brian, Wayne, Lisa, Amelia, Erica, Adam, Ashley, Ethan and Tegan and great grandmother of Jacob, Joshua, Isabella, Victoria, Tristin, Abigail and Nathan.  Pre-deceased by her brothers John Soulliere, Eddie Soulliere and Ernie Spickett and sisters Helen Michaud, Rose Packwood and Theresa Brown.  Fondly remembered by her brother-in-laws Donald, Jim and Renee Marchand and sister-in-laws Mary Lou Spickett and Bernadette Soulliere.  Friends are invited to call at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St., E., Cobourg on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.  A funeral mass will be held in St. Michael’s Church on Wednesday October 3rd, 2012 at 10 am.  Interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Cobourg.  If desired donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Heart & Stroke Foundation.   Parish Prayers will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday evening at 8:45 pm. GROZDANOV, Rev Fr. Iliya – Passed away suddenly on Saturday September 29, 2012 at the age of 51.  Beloved husband of Marusya Grozdanova.  Dear father of Lyuba (David) and Nikola.  Son of Lyuba and Lyuben of Bulgaria.  Brother of Maria (Hristo) ofEngland and Uncle of Gergana and Victoria.  Fr. Iliya was born inBulgaria and arrived inCanada 10 years ago and finished his East Orthodox Seminary at Holy Trinity Monastery inJordanville, USA.

A funeral service for Fr. Iliya was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Todor Grosdanov on Sunday September 30th at St. John of Rila Bulgarian Orthodox Church followed by interment atFairviewCemetery.  For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to St. John of Rila Bulgarian Orthodox Church.

Suddenly at home on Friday, September 28th, 2012 at the age of 62. Beloved wife of Doug. Loving mother of Christopher (Sarah) and Kaitlin. Loving sister of Barry Pratt. Passed away quietly on September 25, 2012 at her home. Much loved wife of the late Carson “Red,” mother of Alan (Pat), Mary MacDonald, Kathryn Williams (David), Robert (Estelle Donoghue), grandmother of Jeremy, Jessica, Christopher and Aaron and cousin of Margaret Joyce MacIntosh. Maureen was born on March 18, 1924 to William and Loretto (nee Contway) Collum in Petawawa, Ontario. She graduated from the University of Toronto in Physiotherapy. Her work as a mother, wife, and later with the Transport Canada library filled her life until retirement in 1989. Her gracious enthusiasm for life will be missed by family, friends, neighbours and caregivers. The support Maureen received from the Palliative Care program and CCAC in the last 6 months is a credit to the Ontario medical system. Friends are invited to visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road at Aviation Parkway, on Sunday, September 30, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 9 pm.
